Donald Trump suggests 2nd Amendment Folks do something about Hillary

Quite easily.

'Mr. Trump was merely stating that those who care about the second amendment need to come out and vote, unless they want to see it weakened or abolished'.

Something to that effect. Extremely easy to spin.

Edit: Apparently his team already has. Will be completely forgotten about in a few days.

But that's not what he said, he's getting roasted for that defense, and he just dropped to a new low of the campaign.

What's interesting to me if how the NRA would respond to this. They can't possibly be in favor of Donald Trump trivializing and joking about shootings if they want to be taken seriously as the pro-Gun and pro-Gun safety outlet. Even the NRA would have to condemn Trump for a statement like this, right?

.....right!??!

But hes helping gun sales because soon non-gun nuts will have to start arming themselves in preparation for when the "2nd Amendment people" try to stage a rebellion later this year so the NRA will say nothing.

This doesn't make sense in the context of the sentence he said. He specifically set the scene as WHEN Hillary is president and picking judges, there will be nothing you can do except....

Not "to prevent her from picking judges before it happens, go vote". His hypthetical is a post election scenario, not a current vote persuasion

FWIW, I watched his entire speech live and my initial thought in response to that comment was he was making a "joke" about the second amendment people being armed and in a position to fight back when Hillary's judges sent the government to take their guns. I can see how it could be read as assassination, too, although that's not how I initially took it.

Still, in context, the joke to me played specifically as referencing gun violence regardless of the target.
Still, the mention that her pick for SCJ should inspire an armed resistance is just irresponsible and another notch on the belt of the endless unethical and undiplomatic things Trump says. There's no defending it.

Edit: Oh, now we're classifying 2nd Amendment people? My eyes can't roll enough.

I'm actually impressed that he's able to keep topping his previous shit with new shit.

I can't phantom what he'll be saying in a coupe of months time.
Heck, I can't even imagine what will top this one...

Also the news media barely had picked up on that story so it's hilarious they respond to the dishonest media. Someone lost their shit and quickly put that out

If Trump meant 2nd Amendment supporters voting against Hillary there are so many ways he could have said it without looking like he's inciting violence.

"Hillary wants to take away our guns! Supporters of the 2nd Amendment should go out and vote in November to stop her from doing so!"

There, not exactly concise but you can tell exactly what it meant. "Maybe there is..." sounds like a stereotypical mafioso telling his henchman to "Take out the trash" or "deal with the situation"

I'm trying to figure out if he's trying to say something different here but I can't think of another way of interpreting that.

Any Trump supporters wanna take a stab at defending this?

actual tweets from Trump supporters:

@NBCNightlyNews I love how he speaks his mind some will hate the rest respect him either way if he's honest then he should be president

@NBCNightlyNews Her Secret Service detail was sloppy enough to let in Mateen's dad. Trump owns any consequences of his words.

non-rioteur @TrumpTronics
@NBCNightlyNews 1.Create inflammatory headline ✔ 2.Misconstrue facts✔ 3.Reorganize context to mislead ✔ 4. Distribute to reflect negatively✔

I'm between facepalming and outright vomiting. And no, I'm not censoring their fucking usernames, IDGAF.

I can only imagine what it must be like to be one of the Secret Service agents assigned to protect Donald Trump.

SO to SSA: "So how was work today, honey?"

SSA: "Well my charge upped the ante against Clinton, instead of instigating a foreign power to intervene on his behalf, he basically asked Pro-Gun Americans to assassinate her instead. That led to by far the strangest call I have ever had to make to my mirror in the Clinton detail"

In his hypothetical she's already elected and appointing judges. In that situation he said there's nothing his audience could do except [something] involving 2nd amendment voters. The only way to spin it is by interpreting what that [something] is.

I don't know. There's something there with the way he keeps referring to the second amendment. I think we just need to get to the bottom of it.

Seriously, asking Russian hackers to hack former Secretary of State email - borderline treason.

Asking 2nd Amendment folks to do something about Hillary - borderline conspiracy to commit murder there

And he'll say that he meant 'get out to vote to prevent that', blame the liberal media for misleading the American people, and the world keeps spinning.

It most certainly will not sink his campaign like some hope it could.

For all the "joke" dismissals: Trump's comments do not exist in a vacuum.

Putting this in context with every violent suggestion he's "joked" about regarding roughing up protesters, asking why we can't use nukes on a whim, trying to tell his supporters that there's a vast vote-rigging conspiracy against him. All of his comments too innumerable to list here must be taken into context. Donald Trumps's entire public persona from the campaign over the past year must be taken into context when considering this "joke".

This wasn't like some random joke from an otherwise stable, controlled candidate, where dismissing it as just an unfortunate joke is a plausible excuse.

This "joke" fits Donald Trumps' pattern as a dangerous, unstable ideologue to a T.

Lock this guy up please.

He has no power yet and look at what he is trying to do already.

Rob Ford- regular drinker and crack smoker was more stable/ less erratic and violent than Trump is now. I legitimately think he's breaking down.

Remember a few months ago when people claimed he was going to "pivot?"

Remember a few days ago when people claimed the GOP finally got to him and he was going to stop saying stupid shit?

I don't give a fuck if he was joking or not

You don't joke about the assassination of a president and supreme Court judges. Whether you're running for president or not.

"Nothing you can do folks. Although the second amendment people, maybe there is, I don't know."

Verbatim.

No way he can weasel out of this.

If he meant voting he'd have made it more clear and plain.

He sure as shit wouldn't have said "nothing you can do".

Just LOOK at the people behind him, some are astonished he said it, most are laughing.

They know full well what he meant.

A minor nitpick with the way some are reading this quote – he wasn't referring to "Second Amendment Folks [sic – he said "people"]" as some theoretical group of people. There should be a comma in the quote. "People" is used as an interjection.

"Although the 2nd Amendment, people, maybe there is."

He's speaking broadly to the entire audience (both physically present and those watching elsewhere), not to a specific group that identify as 'second amendment people.

Getting tired of people saying "he's trump nothing will hurt him"

Have people not seen numbers take a nosedive after the khan mess?

All this shit is already affecting him.

Jesus, do these idiots think they do background/identity screening of people who go to open rallys? Have they been to one?

They pat you down and scan you for metal. At least that's all they did when I went to see Obama.

It's doesn't matter what he ducking ment. He left it too vaguely and someone will have the idea that he ment an assassination
