Gosh the more I read about this the more I need to see the games running on it.

Console games on Neo and Scorpio with that power even at launch should make our eyes bleed.

My purchase of this thing depends on one of two things:

a) is FFXV upgraded for it?
b) is The Last Guardian upgraded for it?

If the answer is no, I'll happily live without a Neo for awhile.

FFXV on Neo ! Goodbye Old Ps4

Yeah, thinking about trading in my PS4 with the games I dont care to play soon. Though I suspect their might be some cool trade-in promotions.

Someone mentioned Amazon, might looking into that as an option so I can just have my neo shipped to me.

Hell yeah man, I'm really hyped for Neo and Scorpio. I know some people are against this change but as a tech junkie myself...I am certainly looking forward to these new consoles.

Can't wait for this unveil that underlines my current PS4 is a piece of shit and I shouldn't have invested in it!

You'll still get to play the latest AAA games at 20-30fps and call of duty at 60fps. But seriously it's been nearly 3 years so I don't personally think it's too early.

A more powerful console won't effect the functionality of your current ps4. I guess the main concern that some people have is whether future games will focus development on the Neo with the standard ps4 getting shitty performance.

I think the reality will be nowhere near as exciting. Expect Neo to be home to a few subtle differences in performance, performance so subtle that the likes of Digital Foundry need to highlight the differences.

I don't doubt that there might be a few games with pronounced differences but on the whole I don't see major performance improvements. Infact as much as I'd love 60fps on games, we're likely going to get a stable 30fps with perhaps higher levels of AA, as opposed to 20-30fps we see in some games.

Sony are very aware that they have a fine line to tread, they don't want to alienate existing ps4 owners, but at the same time want to give a good enough reason for people to purchase the Neo.

Oh so just I realised all PSVR games should be made to support Neo mode considering they're all releasing in or after October, when all PS4 games supposedly require a Neo mode from that point on... I do wonder what difference Neo will make for VR, should up the image quality substantially and possibly frame rates too, with IQ making huge differences in VR.

Imagine if they have FFXV running on it. But probably not, didn't the developer say it was only in development for PS4 and X1 right now?

But it would be quite something, a few weeks before its launch and they show it looking amazing on the Neo hardware. Speaking of FFXV, show some goddamn console footage already Square Enix.

I imagine I'll watch it but I'm more surprised by the fact that there's a PlayStation Theatre somewhere. Crazy stuff!!

Excited for games, but I still think the main point of Neo is for VR to be more impressive during it's big first impression.

No one can see em coming, and I doubt this is it, but VR or a specific VR experience has the potential to be a Wii moment. Just look a Pokemon go, you never know.

Antonio Banderas has a new movie in September too. perfect timing lol

Its called Finding Altamira, someone should change it to Finding Neo. The trailer could easily be edited into a Neo trailer

I absolutely believe SE has a Neo mode ready for FFXV to be shown off at the event. That game and Battlefield 1 need it more than any other games releasing this Fall.

For people looking to dump their old PS4s use eBay and stop being lazy.

If the answer is no, I'll happily live without a Neo for awhile.

From the article at Giant Bomb, "Starting in October, every PS4 game is required to ship with both a “Base Mode” which will run on the currently available PS4 and a “NEO Mode” for use on the new console."

FFXV launches in September. That means FFXV is not required to have Neo-specific performance (yet) and Tabata has stated that they have not been working on Neo-related performance improvements, so take that as you will.

Last Guardian, however, launches in October, so will be required to take (some) advantage of Neo's power. Hope that helps!

I hope they show off Dreams & other software rendered games in 4K & talking about the Point , Voxel & other rendering techniques.

I also hope that Sony was smart enough to take what they learned while working on Dreams & Tomorrow Children & updated the hardware to deal with volume rendering .

They don't need one with TGS in mid September and PSX in December.

Re: XV, of course SE isn't going to talk about a console that isn't officially announced yet.
Makes you wonder if PSX will be filled with European studios announcements, or they will bring them to PSMeeting.

In the leaked Sony presentation the situation has emerged to be a bit different.
Games that are released in October won't be approved without supporting Neo on release date.
But games being released in late September while not required to support Neo at release are required to have a patch to support Neo when it's launched.
So yeah FFXV is required to support Neo to get at least better performance and/or resolution through a patch that must be available the day Neo is released.

Of course all the Sony games like The Last Guardian, Gran Turismo Sport and Gravity Rush 2 being released from October onwards will fully support Neo.
