I honestly don't have time to read the 130 pages here. Can someone please summarize GAF impressions? From the stuff I've read, it boils down to

--Game is relatively disappointing.
--Repetiive
--Combat Sucks
--Exploration is fun at first but grows tiresome
--Inventory system frustrations

The vibe I'm getting is about a 6.5/10. If I'm wrong, please let me know, but nothing about the impressions so far has made me think "I need to get this game, today".

I think the "get x units for 100%" is just the amount you can get total, not a bonus for 100%. I didn't get anything from my 100% either.

You absolutely get extra for scanning all the animals. You have to click that banner under the list of names I've complete.

I did it on my first planet and got >200k. That was well more than double my total at the time.

So I found something that kinda bothers me. I was leaving a planet and got the scan warning. As they threat of hostiles on their way came up I high tailed it back to the planet and they didn't chase me. It's weird because I've followed AI into and out of the atmosphere. I guess we won't actually be able to have battles that start in space and progress to a planet.

Nah, you press and hold Square on that thing that says get x units, but it's not working for these other planets I done in the system.

If that's the case screw scanning all the animals. I just spent the better part of 40 mins trying to scan birds. I still couldn't scan or shoot them.

It's pretty easy to shoot them down with the mining tool. You can scan them when they're dead.

I think you're cherry picking comments there. For every comment I've read about the game being boring, I've read another comment about how amazed someone is.

The game will be divisive, do you like exploring? Finding new plants and animals? Farming for minerals and upgrading stuff? You'll probably love the game.

Are you looking for dogfights on the level of Elite? Do you need direction in your games? Do you hate crafting and wandering? This game probably isnt for you.

Personally, I think the game is fantastic. It really simplified fly around. After play Elite for so long it was kind of nice to just hit square and have the ship park it's own damn self. I love crafting and wandering around. I'd give it a thumbs up, or a 4/5 or whatever scale you want to use, but it's not for everyone.

Planet - Akerike Rutsyano is the planet in the second system we both encountered and didn't rename (yet). Same planet. Same system.

The reason why not all of the other planets are listed (there's five or so) is I haven't landed on all of them yet.

One of the experiments is to see what the planet is called after the server connection is restored. It looks like the last person to name the planet is the one that sticks.

Most of the conversation switched to Party Chat after the initial exchange because it got a little bit difficult explaining and coordinating everything in a back and forth of messages.

It's funny, because that reads like my Witcher 3 opinion.

But seriously, if you are expecting some combat heavy rpg type game then it isn't for you. I only planned to play it for 30 mins before bed as I have work at 8 but here I am at nearly 4am just finished a session on it, just exploring the wonders of what I am going to find next and taking in the pretty vistas as I go along. It's going to be my relaxation experience for the next few months for sure.

My progress after 16 or so hours. Really enjoying this game. It's what I wanted NMS to be and it's delivering so far.

Yes it does. It's amazing how samey all the planets become after your first 5 or so, scattered with a few moments of brilliance when you find a cool creature or world or landmark. But those are few and far between and the pattern the game is based off of makes itself clear pretty quickly. It's still pretty amazing what they've accomplished, but landing on a planet just to find the same building with the same looking ugly dude sitting in the same chair asking you the same weird questions gets old quick. The densely packed "points of interest" are like the same set of 20 cycled on every planet, and the wonder will wear off quickly for most.

Does anyone else feel the same way?

Yeah, no. You need to decide for yourself. A lot of people love it. There are some who are the loudest who hate it, but really the people who bitch the loudest need to leave. What about all the good things people are saying about it? Precisely why you need to read a few pages. There are loads of people who are praising it here, the bad comments just stand out.
