Wait.... How do you barter?

When you go to a space station in your local planet cluster, you will see NPC ships come through the hangar. Walk up to one and interact with it. You'll get an option to purchase that ship if you have enough coin for it. What you see... is what you get though! There are a lot of different ships, colors and sizes of ships that will come through the station.

I have yet to see a planetary system without a Space Station either. Though I have interacted with ships that land at outposts on different worlds.

After you buy a switch your old one sticks around in an abandoned state just for "buyer's remorse" purposes. You don't get the cash back and you can't own more than one at a time (yet).
What happens when you head out to space and then use your scanner? Does it pop up a location to visit?

Sorry if you've tried this already, haven't kept up with the thread.
Yeah, I scanned all over the system I was in with that new ship. That's how I found the crashed ship. Wish I'd switched to that.

Damnit. I should have tried that with the crashed ship I found.

Good to know for people who are in the situation and find a crashed one, for sure.

Yup. There's no harm in swapping for it either, since your old ship stays where it was and you can switch back if you want.

I understand that, I thought you could barter.

Glad to see folks liking it. Despite what i rated it I am still playing. Lots of fun to be had despite the issues.

I got to say seeing a planet and dropping down into it without an idea of what it will has is awesome

Inventory is becoming a real bummer. Found one secret area that gave me a one slot suit upgrade, but yeah.

There's gotta be a place where I can buy new ships, weapons, and backpacks right?
Gif of the year. I just watched that scene for the first time the other night. Man.

Wait... so if i find a crashed ship (havent yet) I can switch from my bugged-no-hyperdrive-blueprint pre-order ship right there on the ground and it will sit there in the broken ship's place so if it doesn't work i can switch back?

Does scanning from your ship not work for anyone else? Idk if I need tech for it (my ship has no color in the scan tree)

Yes. Your old ship doesn't disappear, it just becomes un-owned. I made a mistake with my inventory when buying a new ship and was able to get it sorted out because I was able to reclaim my old one.

Well, yes, but you'll need to take off and scan in that new ship to see if you get the quest to go get the blueprints

Apparently, you get a hyper drive as a part of the tutorial. But the game starts nagging you about getting your preorder bonus immediately. If you get the bonus, it quits the tutorial, and if you quit the tutorial before you get the hyper drive, apparently you simply never get it.

Though I've heard from other comments that you'll simply find the hyper drive blueprints randomly if you simply continue playing the game, even if you aborted the tutorial due to that bug.

Thanks for the reply.

There's gotta be a place where I can buy new ships, weapons, and backpacks right?

Ships: you can buy the ship off any alien who flies into a space station. Just ask.

Weapons: some aliens you visit (on planet) will have a weapon vending machine on the wall. There will only be one for sale in the machine, but they are available. Sometimes interactions can reward you with a new one too.

Backpacks: I don't know that there's alternate backpacks available, but the suit upgrades get easier once you get an AtlasPass v1, as there's then a suit upgrade available for purchase in every space station.

KILL THEM

A lot of people asking this. They should
make it easier to scan birds.

Easiest way is to kill them and scan the body. But it def is possible to do it normally. I've managed to 3 times so far, took about 2-3 mins. Just have to use max zoom on the binos.

Get closer and then zoom in on them which still makes it hard but it's just a matter or focusing on one of them for long enough. Or just shoot them down.

Welp. Guess I'm murdering alien wildlife now. Sorry innocent creatures, all you had to do was land and I promise I would have been nicer.

I think I fucked myself over. I chose the
Atlas Path
and I think I followed the wrong line in the galactic map. I'm headed away from the
third Atlas Interface.

I may have to do a ton of backtracking.

Well, yes, but you'll need to take off and scan in that new ship to see if you get the quest to go get the blueprints

Hmm... im not sure what i should do. Finding a crashed ship on one of the planets in my starting system could end up taking as long as restarting and getting to where i am... though i had a crazy safe resource heavy starting planet with no hazardous temps etc. Decisions decisions...

Yes, your old ship stays where it was.

I was worried I was bugged so I went back to my starter planet to see if something would happen. Stumbled upon a crash site and did the swap. Now I'm walking everywhere on the planet trying to buy 4 sheets cuz the launcher is broken.

Damn, this is so good. I can't remember the last time I just sat there for a whole day playing the same game. I absolutely love the exploring, just spending ages on a planet just to se what I can discover. I'm surprised at the amount of resource management in the game, it really helps when you're learned to spot things on the planet's and you know what that item will give you. It means I can just slowly fly over the surface and stopping when I've found something that I need.

I've seen some amazing ships out there, I don't like the sleeker looking ships, the heavy duty industrial looking work machines are the ones that I really like.

I'm glad that they're going to increase the amount of stuff that you can carry as it's pretty tight at the moment. It would be nice to have the odd planet that had much larger settles on it, it's just a bit strange not have any out there.

It'd be nice to have a few more audio output options too, just to maximise what the game is doing with audio. I'd also like them to add an option for something along the lines of "unassisted flight" where people can switch off the assists that are in the game and deal with landing and taking off themselves. I'm not talking about full simulation but something that just allows you a bit more of a hands on approach with this stuff.

This has been amazing for me, this is pretty much the game that I've been wanting to play since I was a kid. I'm so happy with it. :)

So i purchase a new ship. So what do I do with the old ship?
The old ship is the one I redeem, and i can't remember what happen to the first starter ship.

All of my backpack upgrades I found have been out in the wilderness of each planet I land on. Once you see the space pod it sits in the first time, you can easily fly over the planet and use your eye balls/scanner to find the next one. I have around 23 total backpack slots with more slots I can add.

Also
getting shields added onto your backpack for protection against the elements is reaaally great when you set foot on hostile planets.

Sorry to be new and ignorant to the pre-order ship (I also have the LE ship). Should I just start over and refuse everything until I finish the tutorial?

So what's this preorder bug and how do I know if I have it and if j do how do I fix it?

Redeeming the pre-order ship during a certain part of the tutorial means you never get the means to build hyperdrives, an ability you need if you ever want to buy or switch into a new ship. If you do get a new ship without the ability to build hyperdrives, you're stranded in your star system.

Game is getting so frustrating and I've not left first world.

I've lost my ship. How do i find it?

It wants me to gather 200 heridium yet I can't find any

When you turn around and see this. I was literally like "holy shit".
Planet is so close. I'm on it's moon.

Moon vistas are my favorite!

22 slots from my first planet. ? Markers are your friend, walk around a bit.

You guys are lucky! I explore a lot and barely see those things.

So, I'm trying to install an upgrade for the jetpack. However, the jetpack icon is in the corner of the ExoSuit inventory, so, i cannot place anything next to it, because under there's the power icon, and to the right there's the environmental icon.

So, how can I install this upgrade if I cannot empty the space next to it?

I have already upgraded my Exosuit a bunch of times. It gave me new inventory space somewhere else, but not near the jetpack icon.

Suggestions?

My first impression isn't too good. My three main complaints:
- The limited inventory space is incredibly annoying. I spend way too much time shuffling stuff around.
- Movement feels too slow and clunky.
- While the planets may of course look totally different from each other, on any given planet everything basically looks the same. Are there no biomes? Samey mountains, caves and valleys don't do anything for me. The planets strongly reminds me of Mass Effect 1's planets.

if you want to absolutely be sure to avoid the preorder ship bug, avoid claiming the preorder ship until you have: warp drive blueprints, warp cell recipe, antimatter recipe

after that you can use the new ship worry free

Your ship is always on your compass, it's white. Just turn in circles until it pops up ont eh compass at the top of the screen.

Heridium is in the big rock monolith pillars.

Your compass at the top will point you to the direction of your ship. Heridium looks like a tall blue squarish rock.

Worse comes to worse, delete save and start over again.

I wonder if you bought a ship without one if that could possibly trigger the quest too?

There ya go!

When I bought another ship and left the dlc one behind I still got the warp drive tutorial

Noted.

Rats. I'll start over. Only an hour lost since I got motion sickness lol.

While it's not particularly a complaint for me, perhaps a solution to the frustrations of the limited inventory, would be to not include the upgrades taking up slots.

Planets are 1 biome only, this was already clarified long ago.

Hmmm...not sure if I have done this preorder ship bug thing or not....claimed my ship on start-up then fixed it up good as new before flying up to a space station...am I missing something?

Regarding elements and stuff, I only have 13 exo slots and 15 ship slots.....how do I hold all these elements/what should I be keeping in my inventory?

Well, like any RPG game, you start with limited space, but can get upgraded. Plus, having limited space forces you to play back and forth between your ship and exosuit.

- Movement feels too slow and clunky.

Walking, yes. But there's an exploit to run faster. Basically you need to sprint, press melee and right after you press it, press X to use the jetpack. If you done it right, you should see your weapon trembling for a bit.

This was known waaaay back. All planets have just the one biome. All videos and previews stated that.
