Ok been playing since release last night, i think i am starting to get really bored with the game. I may had landed maybe 20-30 planets so far. They started to look same. Bases are same, npcs says same thing even puzzles are always same. It kinda destroyed my desire for exploration now. The vistas are really uhmm flat.. I mean i was expecting to see bigger mountains and deeper valleys etc but besides from some weird rock formations almost all planets share same topography. Lack of bio domes and lack of map (which at least can show the places you visit on a planet) kinda removes sense of progress. The only thing that make me realise that i walked or explored a lot is how far i am from my ship.

Since whole systems are created by a math formula it is expected to see patterns but its kinda letdown after 10th planet. Oh and space is so dull. so far maximum planets i had seen in a system was 5. No rings no other celestial objcets besides stations, planets and npc ships.

And i understand they tried those 50's sci fi pop look on the game with colors etc but its just doesnt work on me When i am in space i want total darkness and i want real night on a remote planet. It's just too purple green etc. I wish it had more contrast. It's so rare to get a really moody lighting in the game.

Played about 2-3 hours. Freaking loving it. Most of the OT talk seems very positive but why is the review/impressions thread overly negative with only one review to talk about and generally positive impressions from the other sites listed?

Some Gaffers just want to see the world burn.

most people in here are playing the game while other threads seem to be mostly people looking for confirmations on why they think it's shit
Ok that's what it seems like because what I've played is great and all I want to do is go home and play more. It has its hooks in me for sure.

Yup, most OT are positive unless a game is completely awful. I just stay out of the review thread and that one complaining about not being able to see others in the world.

Completely restarted my ps4... Load the game...

Pop open discoveries screen.... Insta crash

Load the game back up again... Do same thing, game DOESN'T crash.

Close and open discoveries screen around 4 times....

Crash

that sound you hear is my starter 7 slot multi tool weeping.

Found a neat little glitch. If you stop your laser completely right when it's about to overheat (wait until the laser is completely gone), then restart it, it will completely reset the bar. Super useful for bigger deposits.

The OT is often filled with people who, you know, have just actually played the game as opposed to say, the review threads where people who already decided something wasn't good fight against the game's defense force.

Hmmm....

Maybe pops up different for everyone?

Could be - can't say for sure. Can only say that I seem to be good and stuck at the moment. Have been doing nothing but Colonials and have had 0 luck with getting a random draw on it as well. That said, the system I'm stuck in has 5 planets which vary greatly, an abundance of wealth and tons of cool stuff to see. Still tons to see/do while I wait it out! This might start to wear on me though if it takes a couple weeks for a patch/solution. I just really don't want to restart 15hrs in...

Found a planet that was a fucking nightmare. Radiation rain storms, aggro dinosaurs and lethal plants. But Damn did it have good resources.

Worked the market place and amassed 1.5 million space bucks. Looking for at least a 23 slot ship to buy.

It's pretty indefensible that Hello doesn't explain how their system works, or really that there's no manual at all. I see icons that I have no idea what they mean.

rant: The UI is the worst thing about this game, it's a complete dumpster fire. Having to move a virtual mouse cursor around to do anything, even basic "oh shit i'm about to die" tasks like recharging, is such a failure to understand what good UI is. I mean at least they could do is let us use the trackpad as, you know, a trackpad to control it. And those slowass fade animations on every piece of UI transition. It's way too precious. The UI should get out of the way as much as possible.

Found a gold rich planet last night. Thing had giant pillars of gold reaching up into the sky and even deep into the ground. So I decided to farm gold for a bit and each 500 stack was roughly worth 110k. I might just stay here a bit.

The last planet I was on had flying eels and scorpion/spider hybrids. So much fun!!

Oh yeah those threads are fucking insanity, people on all sides are just going nuts. I think i'll stay here.

I've been using the digital preorder ship and have not run into this "bug" if you even want to call it that. I think its more of a misunderstanding of the game flow/systems.

I got the blueprints for a hyperdrive even while already having one. I can make anti-matter, warp modules etc.

Any one having a lot of crashes?

I have crashed

when warping to a new system
Opening up the discoveries screen (options menu) and has been causing the most crashes
Crashed exiting planets atmospheres

Note: apologies if my post is horribly formated I am posting from mobile

Holy shit. This takes me back to Battlefield 4 at PS4 launch.

I haven't had a single crash in NMS, though. Maybe try rebuilding the database?

You think incorrectly.

Has there been any word from HelloGames about the hyperdrive blueprint/pre-order ship issue? ETA for a fix? Wondering if I should just wipe ~6 hours of progress or hold out for a patch.

So I finally get to properly sit down an play the game but now I have a problem. I was trecking back to my ship and when I finally reached to where it was supposed to be I couldn't find it. Looked around me and found nothing... but then I looked up

WTF do I do now? The nearest save point is too far away so I don't want to restart the game D:

It absolutely breaks my heart to see a game like this be torn apart by people.I've played for about 10 hours, and already consider it one of the most special experiences I've had as a gamer. It's a beautiful game. I hope the hardworking people at Hello Games aren't taking anything too personally, because they deserve better than this. Gamers really are the shittiest people, and it sometimes makes me ashamed to identify as one.

Discovered a planet with a lot of water and also realized you can actually explore underwater on foot too!

This planet is so fucking cool I don't wanna leave it.

I mean what happens if you don't do it like that. I have a multi tool with 10 slots and the upgrades are all over the place and I still get all the benefits. Other than OCD getting triggered I don't think you need to pay attention to this.

Yeah I dont know wtf is wrong with people. Bitching about shit.. missing features blabla. If they could play this they would realize this game is an amazing experience. Nothing like any other game Ive played really.

Yeah you do, because that's literally how it works lol

I feel your pain. I am glad I read this thread first and did not redeem the DLC code (mainly to want to experience the survival way first). I hope it gets addressed or works out for everyone soon.

The problem is you can't move an upgrade after you've built it.

True, this needs fixing.

You guys I need help. There's a waypoint for an abandoned building I'm supposed to go to, and kt's underwater. I don't know how to get in or what I'm supposed to do.

You'll probably have to either let it go or come back to it when you're equipped to explore underwater for more than a couple of minutes.

Stuff like this is one of the pitfalls of procedural generation.

I might have to shelve this game until Hello Games addresses the crashing because this is the fourth time it's happened, twice today.

Space dogfights might be my least favorite thing about this game. I don't always feel like engaging enemies but then I go into the menu to recharge my shields, which is a somewhat cumbersome experience. I don't know that I can warp out of the system (building a warp cell takes a number of items) but I certainly can't just do a pulse jump because they shut off in combat, which is dumb, and space stations are often too far before you're dead.

I have a new ship and an upgraded shield (and pending cannon upgrade) so maybe it'll be tolerable at some point. Otherwise I actually like the survival aspects when you're actually exploring a new system. I'm basically looking for new monoliths and any waypoint that has a suit upgrade. There's a weird serenity for me taking inventory, gathering resources and generally flying around scoping them out now that I know what the elements tend to look like.

The game isn't very good. Really like the idea but the way it came together left a lot to be desired.

Mining is fucking mindless and boring. The worst thing? It's what you're going to spend a lot of time doing. Maybe even the majority of your time will be acquiring resources. And it's a grind.

Animals, fauna, ect aren't exciting or interesting. Every planet for me hasn't felt like I'm finding new life, but instead the same creatures just reskinned. All doing the exact same things and not interacting in any way with each other or the planet.

Discovering landmarks could have been done better. A lot better. What we have now are basically the same 10-20 locations to be discovered over and over again. Oh, there's a monolith. Oh, there's an outpost. Again and again. nothing feels particularly important or substantial.

Inventory is horrible. You guys all know that.

Also the npcs look stupid.

Anyway that's my impressions thru 10 or so hours.

It's partly because quite a few people haven't played it.

But it's also because this is a really quirky, original, niche game. If you like it you'll absolutely love it. If you don't it'll leave you cold.

Personally it's my game of the generation. I really don't care what anyone else thinks.

Just figured out that you can click on an element and then use it to recharge... Seems easier than going into the item's sub menu and picking from a list.

It isn't. It depends when you redeem the ship. If you get the blueprints everything is fine. I could craft antimatter, suspenion fluid and warp cells on my previous game, but not the drive itself.

If you don't get it, ships for sale won't have hyperdrives either. Some have suggested that switching to a crashed ship can cause the beacon for the recipe to appear.

I had to force me to quit, otherwise I would be exploring a planet for the rest of the night. For the moment I love this game and I haven't even leaded my starting planet!

Just one question, how do you scan birds? They are moving or too far...

Mother fucker....so I have to dismantle/toss all my upgrades and then rebuild them so they are touching?

No one has the inventory slots for that!

How Hello Games doesn't allow you to move them is dumb.

Kill them and scan their bodies?

Same here. But whatever, fuck those people. I'm having an amazing time with this game.

It seems to make them even angrier that there are so many people that are enjoying the game.

Bought this today and played for about three hours. It seems great, just the super limited inventory you start with will be the death of me. Got like two-three slot upgrades, but that's not even nearly enough. Limited slots aside, there were a lot of near-death situations I've gotten into just because of the confusing implementation of multiple inventories. This is really the only thing bugging me about the game so far.

Me too. I knew it was going to be a problem when you were still getting the question "but what do you do" just a few months out from release. The fact that people wouldn't do 10 minutes of research to find out was just sad. Disappointed in some of my fellow gamers for sure. I think that some of the journalists/reviewers get to shoulder some of the blame too.
