Limited Run Games - Putting digital games into your hands

Are we talking 15k on one platform or possibly combined? I could see Cosmic Star Heroine reach good numbers on both PS4 and Vita. At least 5k each. It's the game people are talking about becoming their first LRG purchase from what I have seen, or at least was before Shadow Complex.

Is it that popular though ? I had personally never heard of this game before following LRG. I know I can't keep up with everything but still...
If you're hanging on CSH forums that would explain the enthusiasm of these people talking about first purchasing an LRG game ^^

I'd be so in a Binding of Isaac Rebirth btw :O
If this is it, 5k on the Vita will be a bloodbath.

10k on PS4 and 5K on Vita? I'm going to go all in and guess Dead or Alive Xtreme 3.

The game is still widely available on import sites and price wouldn't even be all that different even if LRG picked it up. They wouldn't even be able to get an R1 or R2 version of the game to let dlc work in NA/EU, as there is no R1/R2 version that was made. The people who wanted that game most likely already imported it.

I Am Setsuna is out of question isn't it?

Considering it's 5k on Vita as well and there's no Vita version for the West, yes. The 10k/5k number was also made known on twitter almost 2 months before we had heard that LRG had made positive contact with Square, so it wasn't even an option when we heard about the print numbers. The game also wasn't even out in June here, so it being popular/having fans wasn't really a thing.

I looked up the original tweet and it was 15K combined. 10k on PS4 and 5K on Vita.

Right then, I had forgotten about this but I definitely have read it before.

That gap in print sizes is just insane. I'm really struggling to think what would be so much more popular on PS4.

The 'dedicated fans' part makes me think Skullgirls, but I think the print run is too big for that. Plus the Japanese version has English and will definitely have been imported by a few people.

So like I concluded last time, I think it has to be a game that's inferior on Vita somehow. Binding of Isaac and Guacamelee are the two that spring to mind, but are either of those worthy of 10k on PS4?

My other thought is Volume. If the PS4 release has all the Coda content on the disk, then maybe that's worthy of such a big gap. But is the game that popular?

While Vita releases sell faster in the 3-4k range, it's hard to say if they could also push close to 10k copies.

It's very well possible that the "small but dedicated" fanbase isn't large enough and PS4 could more easily sell big numbers for popular titles because of the install base.

That's just me guessing though. Also that tweet is from a while ago, maybe they'll adjust the print size.

So for Rainbow Moon and Show Complex on the 19th, is there any prep to be done? I know with Mondo releases you should be signed in and have payment info saved on google. But I don't know if 6900 copies will go that fast? XD

It's hard to predict how fast they will sell. It's probably good to be signed in, your shipping address checked and your payment details on hand.

I've noticed it in this thread, RPG communities and other communities, CSH is an anticipated game. JRPG fans (let's not debate the "J" here) are also very vocal and active on the internet and gaming forums in general and that is LRGs home field. I definitely think it could do higher numbers than the average LRG release. "Popular and with dedicated fans" doesn't fit at all though.

I could see it being SkullGirls since the developer has expressed a wish for a western release. It is quite popular and has dedicated fans. It's also a game where I imagine the PS4 version has a significant advantage in demand.

Heh. Made the same choices in the same situation for the same games. I get kinda angry thinking if I didn't lose a single second to stop to think and take out the second copy from the check-out I could have made it in time.

Now I dont really know what to do. Dont really want to award them with my money the way they're handling this and sure as fucking hell dont want to give money to some gaffer selling his copy on eBay while pushing LRG to keep runs low in here to profit a couple dollars more.

No one is really pushing us to keep the runs low, we have to do it in order to keep operating. It's important that stock doesn't sit around because it allows us to be lithe and move from release to release very quickly. All the money from each release is immediately invested back into the next games. As runs have been growing, pretty much all of our "profit" is going into larger runs. One improperly sized run that doesn't sell out could make a huge dent in both our growth and future plans.

Preorders would make our lives so much easier on one hand since the preorders would finance the runs but I've said my piece on preorders too many times and don't feel like typing it all out again.

Where is all this Shadow Complex hype coming from?

But yeah Rainbow is awesome, give it a chance!

I still can't make up my mind about Rainbow Moon. I watched a trailer that was awful, then some gameplay that looked alright. I still have time to delve into this I guess ^^

Listen to LRG, Rainbow Moon is phenomenal. My most anticipated game so far. The best thing to do is try out the demo, which should still be available.

There will also be soundtrack CDs for Shadow Complex and Rainbow Moon available - Rainbow Moon soundtracks will not be sold as a bundle to keep inventory cleaner. Haven't fully decided how the Shadow Complex CDs will go.

Is the soundtrack with Rainbow Moon the same one that was sold on Eastasiasoft’s website? Or is it an updated one, like that was done with Soldner-X 2? I have the original (only?) OST for Rainbow Moon.

Looking forward to the 19th, although I'm kinda worried about 3000 per platform for Rainbow Moon...

Have to admit, I was hoping for a bit more than 3000 copies. I think I should be ok for the PS4 (the version I want the most), but I am going to try for the Vita version as well, which I think should be interesting as those seem to sell out more quickly.

I will also be going for Shadow Complex. I don’t know much about it except it’s similar to a Metroidvania, which peaks my interest as I’ve always enjoyed those kind of games.

I wouldn't be too worried about Rainbow Moon, Shadow Complex says 2 per customer where RM doesn't say, so I assume 1? Maybe they haven't decided yet. If it's 1 it should be a better time than Soldiner

Yup Rainbow Moon will be 1 per customer from the start. Also this time we have 3k Vita and 3k PS4 so I expect it to last slightly longer than Soldner. I hope

I'm so conflicted on what platform to go with on Rainbow Moon.

I checked some release dates, looks like it was originally a console game (PS3). But the Vita version released before the PS4 version. Neither platform feels right. Guess it mostly comes down to the welcoming isolation of console in the game room, or accessible comfort of playing it on a handheld before bed.

Has anyone played both digital versions? I assume they'd be completely identical.

It's supposed to be a bit grindy, so seems perfect for the Vita. Played an hour of it and it looks and runs fantastic

Vita is always the right answer. Even if it's Borderlands 2. Except when it's Resident Evil Revelations 2.

I prefer playing my games on my large screen TV, so the PS4 version is primary for me. But I am going to get a Vita version as well since it is cross-save and in the event I am away, or the TV is being used for something else, I can still play it on my Vita.

I'm on the fence too. Vita is great for collectability and portability, but the PS4 box art is way better and the resolution will be sharper. Hmmmmm

Will the resolution really be sharper for the PS4 version? Rainbow Moon was re-released for the Vita, so I would have figured the resolution would been upgraded to look normal (sharp) on the Vita, as well.

But I haven’t played the game yet on the Vita, so I can’t say for sure.

It is the same one as that was already a complete release. EAS just sent us their remaining stock (about 300 CDs) to sell.

Man, sorry for the Vita peeps out there. Rainbow Moon's cover art looks pretty bland. Just a white background and a logo of the game name.

PS4 version isn't that much better, but still.

Here's my guesses on the 15K release. Maybe more of a wish list but hey, it's all in good fun!

- Hotline Miami: maybe a dual pack with the sequel? It got a physical release for PC didn't it?

- Fez: I think it's a long shot but it's such a beloved indie, would justify the print run

- Rogue Legacy: same as Fez in my opinion

- Axiom Verge: my number 1 personal pick, will sell all 2 of my LRG games for this one if I have to ;-)

- Salt and Sanctuary: coming soon to PS4 I think. Maybe would be a good way to ride some hype?

- Super Meat Boy: if Isaac is a possibility, isn't Meat Boy too?

- Enter the Gungeon: not sure if available on Vita but would be so nice to have a physical copy of this one

- Banner Saga: no physical box for this one is a shame, a shame I tell you! Imagine the cover with the hand drawn art...

There you go! Most titles are probably too high profile for LRG? Anyway, dare to dream!

Super Meat Boy is already getting a physical release

Too bad that when, FINALLY, Super Meat Boy got a DRM-free physical release (the old PC "Ultra Edition" had DRM), the authors couldn't secure the rights of the original soundtrack. This physical release is thus sadly, to my eyes, an inferior version :/

(but it's better than no physical release at all, I guess)
(and the gameplay is still top notch)

Haven't seen anyone guess it so far!

I'm guessing (and hoping), Spelunky. It has dedicated fans and the PS4 version is probably that little bit more desirable than the Vita. It would sell those sorts of numbers easily.

I love shadow complex! Except I'm pretty sure I won't be able to get a copy.

My wife is getting induced on the 19th... So unless our baby comes early, I'm likely going to have to sit that one out.

My hopes on the 10k/5k? Binding of Isaac or axiom verge.

Issa would be a blood bath. Seriously, I'm thinking $200 resellers same day.

Grim Fandango Remastered

These are my best guesses.

I wonder if Doug is actually gonna let us know if someone has guessed it :P

Because I know Grim Fandango will have a load of legal bullshit behind it, how about Broken Age? Though again, I don't really know if that's big enough.

Otherwise I'm really struggling. Maybe something upcoming like Starbound and Stardew Valley? Idk.

Don't Starve is getting a physical release through 505 Games.

Got a source for this? Google shows me nothing.

edit: Nvm, I'm guessing this:

It's actually up on a number of European sites as well for preorder and I recall reading on a 505 related forum that they were going to do a European and US disc release.

Also got a physical Vita release in Japan (HM2 was a download code).

[Banner Saga] Got a physical PC release in Europe.

Right about banner saga but I cannot guarantee it's DRM free. PC games rarely are :/
And there's no sign of a retail version for the second episode but there could be some surprises when all the saga is out :D

Didn't know that ! Great !

I'll laugh (and cry) if Limited Run gets a physical edition out for Broken Age before I even get my boxed copy from the Double Fine Kickstarter
