No Man's Sky |OT| Hello Worlds.

What can I say. I've heard people say this several times. The times I've heard them have been when I've been right ontop of a cave system. Might happen inside caves, too. It's just like in Minecraft.
Correct. I think it is an audio indicator so if you have the grenade launcher you can open a hole into it.

I found a "desert planet" with huge rocky cliffs and plateaus that sometimes had water far, far below them. And on top of one of those plateaus I found a school? herd? of fish who seemed to be trying to burrow into the ground. Oddly, this killed the game's performance. Not just framerate, the entire game felt like it was in slow motion.

(Later, I eventually found a school of them actually in the water.)

Also, on this same planet, when I got out of my ship once, I clipped through the ground and was inside of one of the huge plateaus. Eventually I was able to escape by blasting a hole in the rock with my multitool's grenades, which I had just happened to install.

I thought the last Update fixed the land-fish problem?

Is there a definitive answer on whether planets rotate/orbit around other planets? I've seen quite a few posts about people camping on a moon but the sky box was fixed.

Also heard reports of the sun resetting to its "default" position the second you leave a planet.

The wait for the PC version is unbearable...

Sounds like the prepatch fish glitch. Haven't heard any other reports of that still being an issue.

Posting just to possibly soften some worry about the preorder ship bug, if anyone's still worried about that. I deleted my save last night for fear I wouldn't get the hyperdrive part.

After playing for a while on my new file, I felt bad I didn't at least investigate further on my original save, so I restored it from the PSN backup. Following exactly what the atlas suggestions were; Open the galactic map, warp to a new system, Scan, it found a waypoint, that waypoint produced the hyperdrive print. I was relieved.

A side note from my experiment, on my old save, every time I would load the game from scratch, after the No Man's Sky splash, the galaxy and stars streaming past would start in a deep lush purple color, and fade around an overall dark pallet until my planet loaded.

When I started a new game, I noticed loading in would produce a bright green backdrop followed by other bright colors. Every time. I then deleted/started again twice more before restoring my original save, and both of these produced the same colors. After restoring my save, I was back to purple.

tl;dr - I think where you are in the galaxy produces a repeatable opening load screen color, (and possibly galactic map coloring?) and I think new saves are created in similar general areas, and as they fill up, new areas are generated.

Glad you got it worked out.

I really want to snag this game, but I can't justify getting a PS4 just for it, and I use a Chromebook for my PC. Does anyone have any insight into if it will ever possible make its way to Xbox?

Somehow I feel like I recall Sony ended up buying the rights or such. Hope I am wrong!

I just read that by scanning a point of interest with your analyzer (L2), you can set a custom waypoint when you're at an outpost, crash site, etc.
Can someone that's currently playing confirm this? I'm at work.

Will test this out as soon as I get to a planet, saw it on Reddit too:

100+ pages wow...

My only post about it:

It's really sad to see the different faces of some GAF members. I few people I thought were cool were in that thread posting stupid immature memes, photoshops, etc.

I've been to a few barren planets that could pass as a "desert planet" in the traditional Earth sense if the color palette was sand colored, as opposed to red or purple.

Where can I find the blueprint to craft the deflector for the Hyperdrive. I'm going to different planets and I cant find it anywhere. Do I have to buy it?

Planets definitively do not rotate. The only claims that they do come from people who don't understand planet rotation.

Long story short, if planets rotated, you'd see the other planets in the system appear to move across the sky, which they don't. Instead, the sun and skybox rotate around the planets.

I'm behind a guy named Pizzalord91 that is discovering all the planets on my way to te center....not sure how I feel about it. Quintillion planets, and there's a dude on my path?

I just bought it. Was common in shops, I imagine might be able to craft later on, but for your first hyperdrive I believe you are intended to just buy it.

LOL

I would legit jump off path and take a different route to wherever you're going if that happened to me.

I need to take more pictures.

Anyone else have weird slowdown or slugishness flying near the ground on a planet? The same place I had this issue my ship would also take off into space after holding R2 to launch off the ground. Real odd to take off and be instantly in space as opposed to just above the ground.

Hahaha. It would definitely ruin my buzz if I was ass sniffing a dude called Pizzalord91.

This is very cool. Wish I'd known this sooner. Too often I spend a good chunk of my time with a full inventory, desperate to find a trading post, when now I can just mark a post when I find one, go farm and come back with ease. Should make my current gravitron ball harvest a lot easier.

How do you get back to your original planet? I just got the antimatter blueprint and to put it bluntly I'm lost. I just want to go back and explore and find all the stuff I missed or overlooked.

Damn, lots of words. I need to get on track :P
So are the servers down for anyone else? They have been for me for the past 2 nights.

on and off.

Doesn't help that I only like looking at the galactic map online because I'm waiting to see that pulse/flicker when someone discovers something.

I'm in a planet with almost no toxicity and a ton of aluminum and gold nodes all over the place.

I think I'll be able to finally buy a pretty good ship once I'm done here.

simple question (only several hours in): tens of hours from now, will i still be farming the exact same substances to power my ship/suit/weapon?...
There are rarer/more potent elements of each type for charging your suit and weapon, and you can use upgrades so that you don't need to powerr them as frequently. But I think the basics (iron, plutonium, thamium-9) will always be there.

Hmm, not sure what you mean by deflector? What does it actually say?

I wish you would get a small to moderate amount of credits when you find a blueprint you already own. After like 7 jumps I already had all the basic multitool and ship blueprints unlocked.

Yeah, it should make life a bit easier for players that want to re-visit their favorite places.

So are the servers down for anyone else? They have been for me for the past 2 nights.

They were completely off for me yesterday. Before Murray went silent he mentioned that the amount of people online exceeded their expectations. I think a lot of planet naming and such that I am doing just isn't getting uploaded.

I really, really wish there was an overhead map that allowed for waypoints, points of interest, and player notes for planets and moons. A map that we could develop as we explore would just promote further exploration. As it is now, it's tough trying to get back to a specific area or location on a planet after leaving.

There's 55k people watching NMS on twitch right now and it's not even out on PC yet.

So yeah, I imagine the game sold very well and the servers are taking a beating.

So my starting planet was pretty damn sweet:

Not long after starting I mined one of those huge plants in that picture for some carbon, but it turns out it was covering a hole in the ground and I stepped forward only to fall into a massive system of caves. The thing is they were all weirdly shaped, sideways almost, and made it a very trippy experience. Really easy to lose your bearings:
