trophy bug:

To get "A Scanner Darkly" trophy easily just go to a lifeless planet/moon then press Options, under Records it'll say "100% discovered, upload for 0 units".

Hold X over that and you'll the milestone and trophy

Dodging Sentinels grabbing Vortex Cubes on one planet was a lot of fun. I think I need to make a few jumps soon though. I've been playing for ages and I'm only in my 4th system.

So in my third system I received a signal directing me towards a monolith. It was the Atlas, basically the same as the beginning of the game but I only have the option to spurn it's aid. Is this cause I rejected it in the beginning ?

I spent 6 hours on one planet yesterday. My hyperdrive fuel is full but I just want to discover all planets and moons before I leave. Gaming OCD.

Then I want to get the upgrades, words, etc. rofl

I haven't found a planet that is completely lifeless yet.

ha so, today is the slowest moving day of all time here at work, I am a blank husk in a void.
massive system of caves. The thing is they were all weirdly shaped, sideways almost, and made it a very trippy experience. Really easy to lose your bearings:
whoa. cool.

I was trying to generally be cool with sentinels other than the ones trying to stop my larceny of locked bases, until I ran into an actual high security planet where they were literally permanently hostile and actively searching for me all the time. Now I have a 6 upgrade boltcaster with homing shit and double clip, as well as upgraded shields and health, and sometimes I just shit on sentinels for a while. Fuck those guys.

I'm only on my second and I fluctuate between my 2nd and first lol

Haha yeah I just landed on a new planet in the same system and it's amazing. I think I'll never make progress this way though.

There are rarer/more potent elements of each type for charging your suit and weapon, and you can use upgrades so that you don't need to powerr them as frequently. But I think the basics (iron, plutonium, thamium-9) will always be there...

well, i guess that's something of an improvement, i guess. tho it still sounds tiresome...

On my third system, I've hit my favorite planet so far. It's not lush but it's green and rocky, like Scottish highlands, with lots of water bodies, canyons and cave systems. Visually striking while flying above it. There's also supposed to be 11 species of fauna to look for.

Then there's the extreme storms. And the "Frenzied" Sentinels who scan you and immediately go to Level 1 attack mode. But there's also graviton spheres and vortex cubes strewn everywhere and if you try to pick one of those up, Sentinels immediately jump to Level 3 attack.

It certainly picks up the pace from the more sedate planets I'd visited so far. Doing lots of quick sortees and jumping back in the ship to hop someplace else and reset sentinel alert level. Need to see what I can do to upgrade weaponry and armor. Might need to hop to another planet for a bit just to try to catch my breath, but definitely want to revisit this one to see how well I can farm it despite the obstacles.

I'm doing this tonight because the game is miserably with the limited space.

Of course I need to find a planet moneybag$ lol

When you get atlaspass V1 every space station has a suit upgrade when you go to the door on left.

The suit upgrades are so much cheaper than ship upgrades. I am at 44 slots and still at 300+k units it feels more worth it to upgrade suit.

How am I supposed to just fly away from this without exploring though?

Just incredible.

What the hell is the point of waypoint stations on planets if you can't actually ever set them as a waypoint or see their names while flying. I went to orbit to get some Thadium to come back down and use it on a terminal.. and I can't find the place I just left for the life of me. It is so cumbersome trying to navigate while on planet.

I haven't spent a ton of time in the game yet, but I'm loving every minute of it. I was on a media blackout before release, so a lot of the stuff I'm experiencing is probably old hat to most of you. Still, if anyone is interested, I'm writing a little blog about my adventure (fair warning - I do not pretend to be a good writer). Might be something to help pass the time at work?

I really wish this game just had infinite inventory slots (or hope I can get there eventually). Seems like it would be an incredibly relaxing game to just pop in every now and then to explore, if I didn't have to worry about micro-managing item slots.

I searched through the thread and saw some advice to just sell everything I don't need right now, so I'm gonna go for that. Also to look for ? spots, good to know.

Liking the game so far though. It's pretty much what I expected, and I'm looking forward to playing more.

Can you hide in your ship from Sentinels? (never tried that) Can you attack from your ship? Id decimate the entire race on that planet then loot the entire thing lol.

So what are the chances that I get the same path as another player? I posted earlier that I'm behind a guy who is discovering planets before me.

If there are really 18 quintillion planets, what are the statistical chances of this happening?

Someone with the maths skills help me out. I'm guessing it's almost impossible, and I'm calling BS on 18 quintillion planets.

Thank God for the Cronus Max.
Playing with the paddes on the Elite Controller for L3 and R3 is a much better way to play.

Especially when you land on a hostile planet with those Green Glowing Balls everywhere that give you 20k per.

I landed on a planet that has these little poisonous spikey like puffer fish things everywhere. Killing one caused the sentinels to go level 3.

A day one "casual mode" or "explore mode" was a HUGE let down. I honestly cant believe there isnt a way to just chill out and travel around on infinite ship fuel etc. Seems like something they might add... or to PC i go for some mods etc.

Found a peaceful planet rich in heridiom and a three second pulse jump to a trading station where it's going for 100% above the galactic average.

Time to farm

I saw this rad ship hours ago but I didn't have the money for it back then:

I've seen the fuselage with several different types of 'wings' on it, but red with those fighter jet wings was just godly. Reminds me of Spike's fighter from Cowboy Bebop.

I ended up going with this guy once I had the money, after my paradigm shifted from sleek looks to storage space:

24 inventory slots, I think. Feels goooooood.

I'm behind a guy named Pizzalord91 that is discovering all the planets on my way to te center....not sure how I feel about it. Quintillion planets, and there's a dude on my path?

The dude is the Lord of Pizza, 91st of his name. Respect him. You should feel honored.

If everything was seeded in a unified distribution, it would be 1/18X10^13 chance for a million players playing to be at thee same spot at the start. Add in an average of what, 10 systems/planets discovered? And that chance is 1/18X10^12 to come across each other.

However, it is obvious it is either not unified or while the algorithm can maybe go up to that many occurrences, they only planned for everyone to explore a much, much, much smaller universe (which could make sense from a data tracking/server sense).

Alright, this is driving me insane. I have 22 slots on my Exosuit and a ship with 23 slots, but for the life of me, I can not find a new multitool. I'm still using my starter. Any tips on what to look out for?

Also, people aren't spawning evenly across the entire universe. Everyone (I assume) starts along the outer edge of it, which immediately eliminates a massive amount.

Why are the ship and multitool designs sooooooo gooooood and 90% of the animals fucking nightmare fuel lol?!

They're usually on the walls inside buildings. Mostly when there's another lifeform present there will be a multitool on the wall there.

Landing stations on planets have multitools on the walls.

Aliens sometimes give them too you as well

Also the lil outposts that have reinforced steel doors to break down usually has the good ones

Talk to dudes and find multitool cases at outposts. Might have better luck with different alien species. Only found one with the Gex in 15 hrs. Found three different multitools already on one Vy'keen planet.

So my starting planet was pretty damn sweet:

Not long after starting I mined one of those huge plants in that picture for some carbon, but it turns out it was covering a hole in the ground and I stepped forward only to fall into a massive system of caves. The thing is they were all weirdly shaped, sideways almost, and made it a very trippy experience. Really easy to lose your bearings:

Almost Identical to my starting planet, down to the plants and caves.

It gets sporadically hot, and mine is more yellowish outside, but purples and greens inside.

I'm sure it us been asked a lot, but should I be keeping or selling Vortex Cubes and Atlas Stones?

Depending on the path you've chosen, you may need the Atlas Stones later in the game.
If you chose to follow the Atlas path, you're going to need them. If you chose one of the other two paths, you're fine.
As for the Vortex Cubes; sell away!

started doing the atlas quest last night and at some point o had objectives on screen like "repair scanner, upload discoveries" or something like that. those objectives just disappeared and never said completed or anything. am I screwed or should I just continue towards the atlas thing?

I was having the same issue earlier on today, until I ran into a Vy'keen at a space station. Seems like it's totally random, but on my bugged first save the same happened there. I beleive you can sometimes find them in colonial outposts as well. They really need to work on this, it's frustrating to try and find upgrades that are borderline essential right now.
