If PS4 won this month while XB1 was $100 cheaper, why would those posts be made?
XB1 S is releasing next month NPD, but the console had a lot going for it in July. Notably, a price drop and a huge fire sale.
Yeah you'd think they should be having way more than just an 18% increase in hours played year over year

Since that would obviously be far more "disastrous". Seems like a good number expected that to happen based on the predictions that many made though so seeing the switch from that to now it (apparently) being a "no-brainer" that the Xbox One should have won the month is a bit funny to me.

I already said that imo MS made a very nice move with both the S and Scorpio putting Sony in a way less comfortable position.
It's not like they'll will the gen instantly but it's a great start for next gen knowing the mess they've done with DRM, TV and other mistakes at Xbox One's launch.
Power is important for many gamers (not me but hey...) but they could have been in a less bad position without the rest. They still have great exclusives to convince gamers vs. Sony's.

There's no reason not to buy a second hand original xbone one now, as they are getting really cheap.

Yeah, the spin on this is real. In the NPD predictions thread you have at least two posters who predicted PS4 would sell more than XB1, then now are acting like its a disaster that XB1 only outsold by 10k.
obviously the sales were the difference, but the downplaying, spin, salt, shitposting is God-tier.

Yeah, I think the Xbox at $200-$250 is worthwhile for any console gamer to look at. Even if you play every single multiplat on a PS4, the console exclusives are worthy.

I never expected this considering the S releasing in August. It's baffling how everyone predicted the PS4 to win but yet its obvious that the XB1 is in front this month? That's the definition of hypocritical.

More than 60 predictions for July NPD & over 85% had PS4 over Xbox One. I wonder why those posts/predictions didn't get criticized considering this month was such an "easy win" for MS.

How could console gamers all of a sudden afford PC Hardware? And just because PC gamers can play Xbox games doesn't mean that Xbox games are removed from the Xbox One.

I checked a few predictions and to me it seems like XB1 is quite in line with many predictions, it's the PS4 selling so badly that sticks out.
So what happened to the PS4 sales? E3 went great, Uncharted is awesome and Neo isn't announced yet.

I bought one of the old 1tb models for $250, got halo 5, rare replay, gears remastered, and ori plus a $50 gift card.
There were even better ones and $200 packages.

I'm not sure. Alot of people are replacing 360s with XBO and that wont change figures.
The increase accounts for a multiple of options - people are coming back to play more, people are moving their play time from PS/Nintendo to XBox etc etc.
Set alongside revenue increase in XB Live subscription numbers it's not a bad measure of the popularity of the console year on year. It also accounts for people buying a console for one exclusive and then not playing with it.

Xbox won a month in NA - quick bring out the memes and actually reverse the win into a tragic victory cause of the cheaper price and bundles means that its actually a hollow victory and when you think about it, its actually a loss!

Don't worry, in that time the Xbox brand will be sold off, Steam will be non-existent due to W10 patches, Windows will just run UWP and still won't support the DS4.

Good point I guess; Never thought of it that way. July didn't have any major game releases though and it's usually a low month for console sales (Summer) so I guess many just went for the cheaper available multiplatform box.
