So being open about your plans at E3 is good for sales, being vague hurts. At least that is what I get out of PS4 sales YoY being down that much

Guessing they had to clean house on the normal Xbox One's with that $249 price point. Still, good on them. They'll probably take the top spot for August as well because of the Xbox One S.

At $399? I wouldn't bet on it. We'll see I suppose.

I don't think there is anything to do with E3.

XB1 sales were due firesale.
PS4 sales were due no important release and no price cut.

Where is the fun in that. Is like going to a bar to watch futebol and everyone is like go man city 😪

Ain't nothing wrong with a bit of jabs being tossed here and there all in good will. Gotta have some fun for sure...sometimes though it just seems people get too worked up over stuff like this.

Sony has done an amazing job in that aspect. And it's a thin line between respecting your fanbase and pandering but they walk it just fine. For a lot of people PlayStation IS gaming and they deserve it for the work they put in.

Lol.

As if MS and Ninty don't work? All companies make bad decisions at times. See the PS3 and XB1. They're companies in business to make a profit- they're not your friends.

I've observed Sony for a very long time. For me, having watched some of the anti-competitive/consumer-unfriendly bullshit they've pulled in the CE devices sector over the years gives me a different perspective than pure console fanboys.

I say that to make the point that EVERY company is prone to anti-competitive and consumer unfriendly behavior if market conditions favor it.

I've never said any company was my friend. I've often argued against that idea. I have no idea what you're spitting at me but all I'm saying is Sony has done a good job of keeping loyal fans. The numbers show it. None of that is my fault. Well I've owned every Sony console so I guess that tiny bit is my fault.

Also it almost sounds like you think I'm a Sony fanboy. Which is funny because on the last page I was an MS fanboy. I should go for the trifecta.

Lol @ a 5 year old handheld outselling the 2 year old new consoles. No wonder MS and Sony are launching their next gen options already.

lol at caps fail - I just noticed that I cant change the title, I just copied and pasted the IGN title and saw it was in caps...

I'm primarily a PC gamer and have all the consoles, so no particular allegiance. In fact even though I have a xbox one, Microsoft has made it obsolete for future games in the sense that I will be buying all the exclusives on PC since it will play them a ton better. Competition is good however.

Didnt see an existing topic on this doing search...

In the US only lol.

My diatribe wasn't aimed specifically at you. Just fanboys in general. I should've clarified that better.

I'm glad, because it's the better console in almost every way but specs. Sony needs to do better.

I thought I saw a quote from a Microsoft exec a day or two ago saying the $399 One S is already sold out. It was meant to be a limited launch edition and they're all gone.

Then I go to Amazon and see that I can still buy one as of right now, so I guess Microsoft must mean they've shipped all they made, but haven't exactly sold them all yet.

I didn't realize how controversial the Xbox selling well for a month would be.

People are mad!

I despise Microsoft as a company, and never have been a fan of Xbox, but it's okay if it sells well. That happened.
Not only is it good for the industry, but it also would be a reason to go at each others throats for, even if it wasn't a good thing.

I hate to use the word, but we need to collectively take a deep breath and stop being so damn salty. Ugh, I said it.

Congrats Microsoft.

Owning both consoles now, I can tell you that the PS4 fans makes more noise. ;D

Nice one, mate. XD
I wish both fans were quieter.

I think it's funny how so many people on both sides(including the media) are making such a big deal out of this when neither of the corporations care.

Yeah the figureheads at MS are tweeting it but that's standard PR to fool clueless people into thinking there's lots more demand for their console than there is. Let's face it, if there was lots of demand it wouldn't need a fire sale. Microsoft Corp aren't going to be celebrating that they had to lose money on their product to edge out a small victory for one or two months.

Sony doesn't care that Xbox outsold them for one month when for the past 8 they've outsold them by 100s of thousands. They may be concerned with being down so much yoy though but you know they have big plans for the rest of the year. They're launching PSVR and Neo with at minimum a price cut on PS4 and another temporary cut during the holidays and several big bundles. Unless they consistently got blown out they wouldn't really have a knee jerk reaction.

This thread has been hilarious though! 😭😭

For further context on this month's sales compared to June.

Code:
Xbox One 171,100

MoM Drop = 19.3%

YoY Drop = 8.9%

Weekly average

Xbox One June: 211,900 / 5 = 42,380
Xbox One July: 171,100 / 4 = 42,775

Rise = 0.9%

Code:
PS4 161,200

MoM Drop = 31.3%

YoY Drop = 25.7%

Weekly average

PS4 June: 234,500 / 5 = 46,900
PS4 July: 161,200 / 4 = 40,300

Drop = 14.1%

Explained in words, fire sales stabilized Xbox One sales, PS4 experienced a normal drop. Here is a post on comparing June and July for previous years http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=211791609&postcount=5

Like I said, with them giving the console away you would HOPE they would win. What is funny and extremely hypocritical is that NOW sales matter, not the MAUs. MS fans have been like little deprived dogs starving under the table for awhile now. Let them enjoy some leftover hamburger
Holy shit son.

Thread is embarrassing guys. Come on..
