Even if they really needed more time can they honestly do this after the Uncovered Event and all the fuss they made about the release date? That would be so embarrassing for them and imo damaging their reputation more.

Delays happen all the time, but dedicating an entire mega event to unveiling a solid release date, only to slip up during the last leg of the race, is not a good look. Especially since all marketing for the past five months involved the September 30th date. It completely throws off their marketing AND their favorable release window.

If it's for optimization I'm all for it.

It's been so long, doesn't matter if it's a few months more.

FakeEdit: Oh yeah the event, why the release date event then? This is just extremely unprofessional if the delay is true, they cannot not know the state of the final code.

There is a lyric in "Too much is never enough" that goes along the line of

"I couldn't say, I need more time" lol

Lol calm down. People will just buy it when it releases. People said the same shit about Uncharted 4. People just don't buy games because they get delayed.

But if it's game marred by technical issues and reviews reflect that people are almost assured to not give it a look.

Well, having that huge event to announce the release day and, generate a ton of hype plus having a big movie releasing next week in select theaters and on digital at the end of the month was supposed to be a sign SE had finally gotten the game in place. But now this...

They still have to deliver a basic patch with fixed 1080p at minimum and more stable framerate than the normal version. Check the Neo presentation leak thread.
I'll just wait and see, I don't care that much. That seems like a pain in the ass for developers though lol.

If it was gonna be delayed, I think they would have held back on releasing the Florence + The Machine stuff til Monday, so they can update them for a new marketing push.

I think I gotten more enjoyment and kiis from the FF Versus XIII/XV threads than I will ever receive from playing the game.

It seems like it's more than optimizations.

The game is just not completed yet. It's still in development this close to release.

They should just delay it to spring 2017 and make sure it's actually polished.

They finally have their vision in place... Might as well finish the game.

Didn't they intentionally choose Sept 30th to avoid the Neo mode and stop the money drain?

Why would they delay it so that the Neo mode would become mandatory?

That would be even more baffling, someone was too optimistic when it comes to progress then

You don't need bells and whistles for the Neo mode, as long as it can play a fps that is the same or higher with 1080p at minimum it would be fine. FFXV is dynamic res on the consoles 900p to 1080p on the PS4.

Just another in the line of this game's comedy of errors. Oh well, beneficial for P5 in Japan and Cold Steel II in the US (provided that XSeed don't run into delays of their own).

You can play all you want and work your absolute hardest and something might still go wrong. There's nothing unprofessional about it.

I don't mind all that much I guess because I have a big backlog and that can keep me busy, but I have to admit after having that grand show to unveil FFXV and stuff, delaying it after that is kind of embarrassing.

Neo patch was mandatory for late-September games, too. They'd have to deliver at least a basic Neo patch anyway.
