I won't believe anything till later this week anymore.

Too many photoshops, fakes, unknown sources denying and confirming.

Yeah with how the E3 demo turned out, it needs extra time. Honestly it probably needs more than just 2 months and should just hold out till 2017

I originally thought the Gravity Rush 2 release date hit a good window in between FFXV and P5. I guess that isn't the case anymore.

Another GS employee saying the new marketing materials say September 30th

I wish Square would just outright confirm or deny this, lol.

Entirely possible that those materials were printed and shipped prior to this potential delay being decided on. And yeah, if GS corporate is the only one in the know outside of Square, the store level people are just as much in the dark as we are at the moment,

Just a claim from a GameStop employee, apparently he is in a GS backroom

Again, if this is true, only corporate knows about it and the info has not yet been disseminated to stores. Don't put any stock in tweets about GameStop employees/former employees/people calling up and harassing their local chains.

But the rumor says some stores have already received new marketing materials with the new date.

Dude, August 14th is mine. If they should happen to make the announcement on Sunday, everyone's going to hate me on my birthday.

No one's gonna hate you, buddy.

It is ashame that the alleged announcement should be on your Birthday, but nonetheless, I hope you'll be able to enjoy the day. :)

And piss off the overwhelming majority of FFXV purchasers who don't experience that really amazing visual quality.
Now you may say, they have no reason to be pissed off because this and that...but they still will be. ;)

Well by that logic they shouldn't do a Neo patch at all, but I think it's kind of unlikely that SE is going to follow that route.

Gamenesia says the materials are already at some stores, and this guy is talking about new marketing material that has arrived. It's possible that their source fucked up. Or not and it is older marketing material and it is delayed, lol.

Yeah, I feel the game's primary issue is getting people to care in the first place.

Yes, huge titles grab attention away, but if you weren't appealing to a huge audience anyway...

Yeah, SE themselves seem to know this an uphill battle, but I notice fans seem to think high sales are still in the bag for FF. This isn't the case anymore and hasn't been for years.

I'm pretty sure it would have disappointed regardless but there's nothing big on PS4 now until BF. It could have hoped to grab the casuals it needs in that September date.

I don't see anyone but the hardcore even looking at it with this date.

Mafia 3 is out the very next week on Oct. 7. I think casuals would've gravitated towards that far more likely and more easily.

The rumor in the OP says this though:

"Promotional materials with the new date have arrived at some GameStop stores with instructions that they are not to be put up until after Sunday, August 14th, so an official announcement could be coming then."

I know that probably just a few gamestops would have recieved the material though.

It wasn't going to set the world on fire next month either. Hype is non-existent outside of established fans and half of those people are skeptical themselves.

agreed. i think that the ffxiii trilogy did a helluva job in knocking this franchise completely off many formerly-interested people's radar...

It's kind of sad how people have to harass local businesses to find out if something was delayed. Just wait two days and find out.

The source of the OP said this:

Pictures will hopefully be added tomorrow. And the reason why the person I talked to was "so special" is because they have been a steady contact for me for years and have provided leaks on numerous occasions. Including the ones listed and linked to in this article as well as others at other websites before I was part of Gamnesia.

I'm kinda surprised honestly. Didn't see this coming.
Kinda hoping the rumor's true. They need all the time to polish the game if they don't think it's ready.

Hmmm well I suppose that could be true! If so, it's only some stores, though, and there's no use getting excited because some guy tweeted that his store said otherwise.

Heh, I know that if it needs more time it needs more time. Also, I'll have way more time in November.

But I have this fear that if they start delaying it, something else will come up before release, then all of a sudden it's 10 more years.

Like: "People are complaining about IQ, let's do two more months of optimization!" 1 month and 29 days later: "game is optimized, but just read an exciting new white paper and decided we can't release a game without quantum computing driven light bounce processing and actual hard-AI solutions for companion behavior, let's start from scratch."

Part of me is just screaming: release the damn thing, I don't give two shits about LOD and jaggies!

"Why do marketing materials say September 30th"

Because they're not going to announce a delay until they announce a delay? Engage your brain people. It's not like they're going to trust 25,000 GameStop employees with a secret "We won't be talking about this delay for another week, please don't leak, confidential, minimum wage zero-skill mall employees only secret!".

Y'know, I kinda empathize. This game's such a rollercoaster and modern Square Enix such a... well, such a rollercoaster.

I get the frustration, but now you're middling in pure madness. Optimizing IQ/performance is something that should/does happen regardless.

You should :p

May I ask why this just about Gamestops (and just in the US I assume)? Do they have the worldwide monopoly on insider information, promotion material etc. that only they know of this alleged delay?
