Destiny – The Collection Trailer

Destiny gamers, please educate me. I know an internet connection is required but can I play and complete the game solo? I'm quite sure the game will be harder but I want to know if by design, completing the game solo is possible just like in Borrderlands.

I am glad to hear that all the PS4-exclusive stuff is now just useless junk.

It was a bummer back when they used to cheat Xbox users out of strikes and legit content.

still have PS exclusive map, quest, ship, and armor / weapon pieces for Rise of Iron. Previous stuff will finally go to Xbox version.

I will say that this collection is good for players who wanted a full experience and held of from playing this game. It's incredibly addictive and playing through all the expansions will be time consuming for sure.

but for the future... it's clear buying this on disc isn't the way to go... resale value plummets like a rock and this collection becomes unsellable if you use all the cards and basically give a destiny vanilla version.

Yes you can... you can play all the story missions solo... PVP as well.

certain modes require 3 players... such as strikes... and most of those comes with matchmaking so youre automatically added with 2 other players who you can choose to talk to or not. Others such as trials of osiris or challenge of the elders do not so you'll need to find two friends to do it.

only mode that requires 6 players are the raids and they do not include matchmaking... so using bungie's recruitment tool on the site or mobile app helps a lot to find a group.

You can do everything solo but Raids and Nightfall Strikes and at this point a solo player can EASILY get 60+ hours out of the content so yeah it's for sure worth it even for someone going solo.

That said the game is at its best playing with a group but I solo content all the time

You can do nightfalls solo though it'll be difficult. It is also possibly to solo Crotas end start to finish.

Isn't the LV40 boost (kind of useless) since you're not getting aby experience for your subclasses? That stuff takes some quite a bit of time.

I don't know since I still haven't used the LV25 booster that came with TTK.

You're right -they should just throw in a subclass booster. They didn't with TTK I don't think though (and later freaking sold it for an absurd price).

There's not much experience required to become familiar with your subclasses. All the classes in the game are pretty much the same aside from the unique ability that's not up all that frequently.

Only requirement is to get familiar with the actual game mechanics, so it's really useful for someone who's just making an alt.

I'm pretty sure he's talking about actual experience to fill out your skill tree.

I would disagree anyways though. Subclasses play very differently, starting with movement.

Sure, you can 'complete' the story playing solo. But the story is, honestly, barely anything in the game and far from the most worthwhile activity. If you have no interest even in matchmade co-op or PvP, there's not a ton here for you I don't think. And honestly Destiny really shines with the raids and playing with friends.

Now that they got rid of the "back to orbit" modifier in Nightfalls... there's no reason why they don't offer Matchmaking for it. I hope they update this with Rise of Iron

Missing out on a multiplayer map isn't all that bad. There are no exclusive weapons. The singleplayer exclusive content is a Quest (not a Strike or Mission) -- which is likely just fetch bullshit through currently existing Patrols and Missions. The reward for the quest is a ship.....just cosmetic.

Far better than locking Xbox owners out of Exotic Weapons, or locking them out of Strikes.

Edit: That's just factually inaccurate. Sunsinger plays nothing like Bladedancer.

Something tells me this will release just like Taken King last year -- not on the disc. Taken King at retail last year was just vanilla Destiny disc with a voucher to download everything up to that point. Still had a very sizeable download to complete once you opened it up, and then the game still has its on-disc install. Entire process on ~25Mbps connection took about 7 hours to get to a playable state, so any new players probably just be braced for that to be your reality for the first day or so -- I imagine this bundle is a good value once you can get in and play, but don't expect to be able to for a little while.

Download the trial first... problem solved.

Unexpected.

Thanks urk.

Really makes no difference unless the latest expansion is as well, it's kind of designed to make sure the value is in the latest expansion. You either upgrade or get left behind, especially when it comes to Nightfall, heroic missions etc. Not a big deal either way really, just not really a selling feature IMO.

Sitting this one out myself after getting each one pretty much at launch. Hopefully they'll start with a fresh slate and we'll see Destiny 2 on PC. I'll have a Neo too, but I'll take the extra framerate and visuals since all I really care about is having a raid team which should be fine on any platform.

Does the Lvl 40 boost come with a standalone Rise of Iron pre-order?
I have vanilla Destiny (retail) with all the previous expansions/TTK purchased in DL form.

Did they pull the PS4 legendary edition from PSN for this? It was on sale and I planned on buying it before the sale ends in 2 days but the old tab gives me an error message and I can't find it anymore...

Probably. The thing with next gen now is when the new versions are announced, the digital always becomes that version, you can't by the "base" game anymore on PSN or XBL. Not even just Destiny.

What's the verdict on Destiny currently?

I know the release was taken a bit so-so with a shoddy told campaign, boring Peter Dinklage robot and lots of rumoured cut content. I have heard that there have been numerous improvements to the game since then, how would the game be for someone who would just get into it and play it most likely solo?

I jumped in when The Taken King released and love it. Plenty of content and I have about 80ish hours clocked in.

They could at least wait until the sale ends before they remove it

Should have pulled the trigger before my vacation.

Has anyone had much experience with LFG sites? Tried for awhile to get a Crota's End raid going so I can move on to House of Wolves but got nothing since everyone is doing TTK stuff.

Why not try our very own LFG on here...

Destiny thread is always there to help people out!
