Watch it have a better story than MGSV.

I would laugh so fucking hard if this is the case, I would applaud them. That is how Konami can get me more interested in what they do - actually making a good game and making it their own rather than attempting to poorly imitate what Kojima does, even though there must be some respect for the legacy of the games and franchise

I wouldn't actually be surprised if this was something Kojima worked on or conceited a bit before leaving. It sounds like something he'd do.

IGN can exclusively reveal Metal Gear Survive, a four-player stealth co-op game set within the Metal Gear universe, due for release on Xbox One, PS4 and PC in 2017.

Set directly after the events of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, Survive sees the members of Militaires Sans Frontières

Okay, I'm disappointed that Kojima is no longer involved, but I'm willing to give it a cha-

not killed in that game’s finale transported through wormholes into an alternate universe, where they’re forced to battle a force of crystalline zombies

Considering his attachment to Norman Reedus and the similarities to the zombie fence poking, it's possible. I guess we'll have to see what Kojima has to say about it.

Gameplay was fucking amazing in MGSV so I would be a fool to count this game out on a childish whim. Hating Konami is too easy these days.

Also, MGSV never gave us coop missions that were present in PW, so I'm very much interested to revisit this godlike core gameplay in coop environment.

sure why not, it's not any worse than psychic kids who manifest flaming dead guys who get taken down by water guns and control giant robots

Honestly, I'm right there too. The MGS plot has been incomprehensible garbage for like a decade now, so it's not like this is a steep drop. If it's fun, I'm down for at least renting it.

The negative reactions to the goofy premise are. ..strange, to say the least.

I can understand being upset that we aren't getting another story chapter (which everyone here claims was trash anyway), but I doubt very much that the core gameplay from MGSV will change. Gameplay which was amazing.

It all comes across as so childish. Just wait for more info. If you don't like what you see, don't buy it.

I have a question to the people who are optimistic or trying to stay open minded about this:

Hypothetically, even if the core game bits are good, do you really think Konami won't hamstring this to hell and back with microtransaction nightmares after what happened to MGSV?

Oh I'm confident they will due to a lack of faith in Konami but that is beside the point - show me it - there is nothing available to see yet.

There is always the possibility they either don't take that route or improve their method of adding dlc / microtransactions etc. Heck there is even the outlandish possibility Konami becomes a better company producing "consumer friendly" games - who knows, but show me the proof of it first.

Assuming the game is good and something that interests me, it's a matter of seeing how intrusive such microtransactions are and if they ruin the game for those playing, just as with any game by anyone. Konami is not some sort of outlier here that I will treat differently even when I lack faith in them as a company.

There won't be any MGS "heroes" at launch. But then they'll drop monthly updates where more wormholes open as time passes, bringing more of the MGSV world into the MGsuriVe world. Kaching!
I'm gonna buy the shit out of best girl DLC cause why not!

Take all my money Konami!!!!1

I dunno, the trailer seems to play it very serious and straight and not goofy and anytime i hear zombies i just hear an excuse to have braindead AI hordes run at you en masse.

Of course, that could be wrong, the game might turn out good, we havent seen any gameplay yet.

yeah I guess for all we know Kojima had a hand in planning this

Possibly dropped the idea on them when he knew he wouldn't be around much longer. That or I could see it being part of a new IP that Konami would have likely never green-lit. Waiting for more information, but man this is fascinating in it's own way.

And that is the same current hook for me.

Yeah, that's what I keep going back to. It's so good that I can ignore everything else about this game.

But we basically had zombies in MGSV with the parasites. We had wormhole extractions you could aquire in the game. We had non canon appearences from Raiden from the future.

Silliness was already there. Whether one liked it or not is a different story. I guess it all depends if they treat it as canon or not. But even if it was, does it really matter? It just seems like a game to put use to that glorious Fox Engine, which I'm a big fan of.

I do understand not wanting to buy the game based on the principle of "Fuck Konami" after the whole Kojima fiasco. I absolutely respect that. But people acting like this is so left field for the series just doesn't make much sense to me.
