My Nintendo Thread: Mii Nintendo, U Nintendo, Wii Nintendo

Why aren't they adding anything knew, so many rewards have expired and we got nothing to replace them, what a ridiculous service!

So far I haven't been spending any more money on the eShop to earn any more gold coins than there are games I can currently redeem for. I'm going to have to stop shopping if they don't put up new rewards for September. I sure hope the program improves when NX comes along.

I have a feeling they are waiting for something before adding more rewards. Maybe NX reveal, though it wouldn't be much reason in it, as it will not be released before March anyway.

Anyway, all the rewards expire by November 1st, outside of Zelda Theme, which has no expire date. I'm sure more will come before that.

Added in Japan and Europe
No expiration date
At least in Japan, themes 1 and 2 are back as well.
200 Platinum coins.

Has Nintendo finally fixed the gold coin thing where you get the coins for the original price rather than the sale price? They've added something in NA that shows the number of coins you get for the game, and looking at LBW for example, it should be worth 40 coins in Canada for the original price, but only says 30 coins, which is what the sale price would get you.

I noticed that as well, but I bought Outrun yesterday for $2.99 (from $5.99) and got 10 points for it.

Unless they're only setting it for certain games, I'd say LH doesn't know what RH is doing.

And yet I bet Metroid fans continue to complain despite this technically being about the same level of support Nintendo gave Zelda's 30th (Miitomo items and a 3DS theme)

What was the point of this? Just a random "fuck Metroid fans" just cuz?

And I mean, Zelda got a massive 25th anniversary celebration, including an international concert tour that's still going. Metroid got maybe a Facebook post, so I'm not really sure why you're trying to make this faulty and random comparison, beyond addressing a complaint that hasn't even been made here yet?

Relax. lol

"Hey Nintendo, make a theme with that same music!"

But I do collect the My Nintendo themes anyway, due to nothing else to spend coins on. Ah well, I like the colours in this one.

It's getting to the point where it's legitimately hard for me to burn through my coins and I buy everything that's not a coupon or tickets (though I did finally get the 10 ticket bundle a few weeks ago), lol. And the thing is, I just checked and I could buy all five single tickets and both 5 ticket bundles and still have coins left over haha.

I wanted to be the one who reads a random aggressive tone into a post for once. :P

Touché!

They will never add a DS game for platinum coins ever again, right ?

They could do something with Pokemon go with those coins ...

Probably not, and even if they do I imagine it won't be for quite a while. At best I could see that one Advance Wars that got a special release in Japan (I think through Club Nintendo), but that would probably be it.

And it would be nice if Pokémon Go tied in, but I don't think it will ever be integrated into the Nintendo Account ecosystem in any way, sadly enough. It's its own thing.

Well for all we know they will never add anything but those themes again

re: DS games: maybe on Wii U. DSi ports of DS games are heavily limited, they're like WiiWare takes on Wii titles. Not enough bytes.

Re: everything: I start to think we heavily misunderstood what Nintendo was doing with MN. They must have been banking on Miitomo gear and those themes being the meat and potatoes of MN. And, who knows, maybe for someone they are.

Honestly I think part of what's going on is MyNintendo is currently in a holding pattern until they can get Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem out, as well as the NX a bit further down the line. I think they released it when they did so that that everyone would be part of My Nintendo and have a Nintendo Account set up and be familiar with everything in advance.

Bought the Metroid theme. At least burned through 1000 platinim coins for Miitomo. I rather waste them then see them expire. Now those gold coins however...

As soon as Animal Crossing Mobile stuff goes up for Platinum Coins, I will be spending like crazy, I don't even care. I love Animal Crossing.

Whaaat? How do you survive in modern society without Whatsapp? (Don't tell me Pictochat) :D

Serious question:
What's the reason to use Whatsapp over the built-in Message service? Is it just to remove the file size restriction on attachments (e.g. multiple pictures and full videos)?

It's free to everyone else who uses Whatsapp. iMessage is only free to other iPhone users, texting costs people with poor plans.

Have we heard anything about when Animal Crossing Mobile is going to be coming out?

I'm sitting on 2394 Platinum/Miitomo coins and 70 gold coins. I've used some Plat/Miitomo for various Miitomo goodies and some gold towards the only Virtual Console offering I didn't have that I wanted, but largely they're just piling up. I can see the expirations biting me in the ass sooner or later.

Do all coins "expire" or just gold?

Easy group chats across various devices.

And, well, even disregarding that, in certain territories (like Germany where I think both TheMoon and Shiggy are living) WhatsApp has plain and simply become the standard of messaging. People just naturally expect you to have it because it's what pretty much everyone else is using.

In contrast to SMS/calls, you only pay for data while still having calls and messaging. In Sweden I didn't pay anything for data (1GB for free per month, in Germany it's 3€ a month). At the same time, you can communicate with friends overseas as it's also big in Asia, have group chats, and the ability to communicate at places where the phone network is weak (provided there's wifi).

The music on these is so bad I'll never get another one.

I like the Metroid design but the music made me change back to my Club Nintendo design.

Yup, it's the standard in Germany. Using it for communications with European and Asian friends.

Oh and in some ways I'm more excited to hear about Animal Crossing Mobile than I am the NX.

I'm usually not in a WiFi source while I'm out, and already have unlimited texting. Therefore having SMS use data isn't ideal with a limited monthly data plan. Seems like maybe it's best for people in bad cellular areas who do have WiFi available? (Also am on Android, so don't have to deal with iMessage.) Not really seeing a reason to use it, yet. Is there a specific usecase where it's just great and regular messaging would fail or be too inconvenient outside of file size restrictions?
