Deus Ex: Mankind Divided PC performance thread

Anyone with a 2GB card (in my case, a 960) figure out optimal settings for lower resolutions?

I'm getting with 45-60fps with a mix of medium/high settings at 1680x1050, but the game still feels "choppy." Why is that?

Jesus this runs like pure shit on my machine.

Are you actually playing the game instead of just running the benchmark? I get 47 FPS in benchmark but the game runs at 55-75 FPS for me, mostly around 60-65 FPS. MSAA, contact shadows, volumetric lighting, shadows, and depth of field are the most costly video options, and if you have a weak CPU then cloth physics should be turned down/off.

Subsurface Scattering made a sizable improvement to my frame rate, and I can't really see a difference with it off, so off it stays.

For some reason exclusive full screen mode causes the game to be very slow frame rate wise.

Running on ultra, using TAA with sharpening, from the distance I'm sitting it was too blurry. I usually don't enable these types of options.

Have everything on ultra ( well everything that has an ultra setting), except contact shadows which is on the 'on' preset and TAA as I mentioned, volumetric lighting isn't on ultra, thinks it's the one before that, at 1080p on 980ti/3770k.

Didn't run the benchmark, just started the game and everything is 60fps from the short time I've been playing.

I spent most of my time getting used to the controls and UI.

Using the standard control scheme.

Using double buffing over tripple buffering, there was just going too much input lag.

So I played around with the settings in this game. It's really weird as the game engine seems more sensitive to resolution than any other shader setting. A lot of these features are screenspace dependent and shows that they aren't that expensive. However, the 4k is a big problem. Not sure why that is the case. There is clearly something wrong when I can average 45FPS @ 2560x1600, no MSAA, no Temporal AA and everything else set to Ultra. However, upping it to 4k yields 22FPS average. Not sure what's going on in their engine. Seems very optimized at lower resolutions though.

Actually worked for me!

This is default SLI bits in 372.54

This is with 0x2C0120F5 (Overwatch)

Both 4K Ultra w/o MSAA.

Going to try now

Wow it actually works! (For now)

Im seeing close to 100% usage

The game has a lot of dumb bugs. My favorite so far is Press Space to Continue after loading a save game will do the available Space bar contextual action if you saved at a spot where one is available.

I'm getting weird lag when I hit M to show the map. Anyone else notice this?

The game is really amazing. I definitely asked for this, a game which aggressively addresses the criticisms of Human Revolution.

Everything is running smoothly on my end EXCEPT when I use exclusive full screen. The aspect ratio changes and I have black bars on the side during cutscenes, loading screens, and the UI is inward a bit. However, there are no black bars during gameplay.

I tried going into HKEY_local_machine and use the game's register to change the aspect ratio (there is an option for that, as well as DX12). I just don't know what value to enter in for the aspect ratio lol.

I hope this is fixed soon. Until then, border less full screen it is...even though that reduces my FPS and stutters a lot.

Edit: Forgot to mention that enabling DX12 won't do anything since the support for it is not until early September. I hope I didn't get anyone excited or anything.

This happened when I was in cover. Vaulted over a table and was immediately spotted after loading a save.

Having preloaded the game yesterday, I thought it would be simple to arrive home from work and play. What a fool I was.

For some reason, Steam is taking too long to unpack (?) the files (seriously, is`s taking more than 30 minutes). Also, reading through the performance problems is not helping it either.

I have a nice gig, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, an overclocked GTX980ti and an I5 6600k, I just hope I can play the game at 1080p@60fps. If the game ever starts, I mean lol

OMG this game is buggy as hell

Walked into a later section of the tutorial and polygons and objects were straight up missing from my screen, things floating in the air and etc. Had to reload from pretty much the beginning to get everything to show up.

Lots of what seem to be 21:9 framing errors too. When you go down in health and your screen turns red it only turns the middle 16:9 portion of the screen red, WTF. Also some interaction prompts seem to be way off target- such as the storage lockers in Adam's apartment, the alignment is way off.

Many instances of prompts not showing up or menus leaving me with no way to back out either since the exit prompt has disappeared, WTF again. Also getting that T to select all or whatever prompt stuck on my screen as well.

Maybe I'll wait for a patch or two to come down before playing again.

Am I the only one that's crashing at the UI load? I can't even start the first level :-\ 980ti, 4770k, lots o ram. Would love any potential tricks to solve.

For context, I get "Deus Ex: Mankind Divided has stopped responding" a few seconds after the cutscene ends.

I'm getting very odd results. I get, identical performance with Contact Hardening shadows on Ultra and with the setting off.

Contact Hardening shadows Ultra:
45.6
38.8
55.8

Contact Hardening shadows off:
45.5
39.0
56.0

Try disabling vsync. It feels better for me, but I had to deal with the tearing

Just got out of an hourish play session. 3770k @ 4.2Ghz, 980ti @ 1390, 16GB. Had everything maxed except for the few tweaks in here. No bugs, I disabled the frame rate display, but it was holding upper 50's without issue for the first 10 minutes and gsync made the whole thing super smooth. Had I not read this thread I would've assume the port was extremely well done, in any case I'm excited to get back into it.

Not a BSOD or a crash, I keep getting a hard lock of my entire computer. Both monitors turn off and I have to hold down the power button. Still in the Dubai area. Guess I'll wait for a patch....

4790k @ 4.8
Win 8.1
980FTW 4GB
16GB ram
Latest drivers

After some tweaking I was able to get around 50-55fps at 1440p. Looks pretty good to. Weird that it doesn't crash in the same exact spot, just randomly after the first stealth/combat tutorial.

Could be that another setting is already bottlenecking your performance beyond the impact of CH shadows. Do you get the same ultra/off performance in-game too?

Yup, that is exactly what I'm experiencing. What's weird is that I'm only 1080p with 16:9 and it still doing exactly as you said. The only other game that did that was Assassin's Creed Syndicate and I could never solve that issue.

Yeah, this benchmark over exaggerated...in game it's 70~80 and reaching 100 inside a room, benchmark area is 65 avg/55min.

urgh keep crashing at train station. Guess ill try verifying. Turned off subs and windows didn't work.

might wait for a patch. Got other stuff to do then debug this.

For anyone wondering.

i5 6600K @ 3.5GHz
16GB DDR4 RAM
GTX 980Ti slightly overclocked

Ultra settings with MSAA, CHS and Chromatic Aberration off, rock solid 60fps @ 1080p. However, there's the unexplainable and random stuttering some people are talking about. Sometimes the stuttering makes the fps to drop below 40.

Also, mouse acceleration is pretty off, even with mouse sensibility set to 25%. After an hour of play, I believe I'm already used to it.

Game is pretty. Still in the first mission, though. Don't know how it will hold up when I reach Prague.

I get solid 60fps, but then, i get to certain areas (I assume its loading the rest of the level) and the fps drop to 12-15 and after maybe a minute or two, two things happen
a) fps returns to normal
b) CTD

I also get CTDs sometimes when i press ESC to bring the menu after playing for a bit. I guess it still needs some optimization
