That's the grey area in advertisement description. If some dude says "Hey my Playstation games are not in 4K, like i was led to believe, because the badge on the "Playstation" that says "Playstation 4K" implied the "Playstation Games" are native 4K.".... then the ASA will look into it and if they think "he's got a point" then it stands, but if they accept Sony's stance it's a media centre first then they will let it slide.

I'm not saying it should be PS4K or not, I'm saying that past cases show the opportunity to fall foul of the rules is there, based on past cases.
Not even close.

ASA only agreed with the complaint because they were advertising 4K content where there was none. Naming somthing 4K and advertising 4K content are two completely different things. Now if Sony starts saying all games will play at 4K and they don't, then you have a case that's similar.

There's no gray area here unless your really reaching with no real legal backing, which is what you're doing here. LoL

I've mentioned this before. But the prospect of Sony passing on savings via a cheaper cost, or by applying it to it's tech by not having to include a controller.

I mean, at this point - with so many dual shock 4's in circulation (well over 50 million) anybody upgrading to Neo already has a controller. And for those that don't the option of getting on themselves cheaper is very realizable.

Seems just like wasted money to include a dual shock 4 in the NEO packaging.

Not everybody is going to keep their OG PS4s though. I sold mine yesterday.

If you are having to argue whether your name is liable for a lawsuit you should probably ditch that name.

PS4k is a bad name for two reasons.

1.It implies that it will play games in 4k (Which it absolutely will not do 99.99% of the time)
2.It implies that you will need a 4k TV to see the benefits of the system (which is also not true).

I understand that its so close to being a perfect name, but its not.

Just call it PS4 (insert word, number, or letter here) and be done with it.

PS4X, after all there once was a PSX I think.

Edit:

PSFourKay?

I don't understand why you guys are so interested in the name. Does it even matter? :P
What else we got to talk about? How about... Since there is no leaks like the slim, maybe it means it's a ways off?

I actually think they should downgrade the clock speed to of the GPU to 800MHZ and the CPU to 2.0 GHZ.

Would still give plenty of power, be more heat proof/noise proof and have even numbered clocks. I can't stand odd numbers at all.

You would be happy with 3.68TF? For like $349 I guess?

So you think there is a greater than .000000001% chance that Sony will borrow the X from MS and use it for the Neo's final name?

5.5 is a full RX 480. Could be possible.

That seems kind of crazy. The TDP of the 480 is greater than the power draw of the entire PS4. I expect Neo to use more power than PS4, but I can't imagine them increasing power draw by that much.

Why, who had it first. Sony with PSX or MS with that thing I can't remember to which you are referring? Orr...does MS legit own X naming conventions??

It should just be PS4 NEO, that way it can me marketed as a higher end PS4 but not tied to the stigma that PS4K would leave. PS4K and people are going to throw a shitstorm if every game is not Output in 4K.

Zhuge tweeting out GameStop investor call.

They confirmed Neo will be at the September event
There is going to be a trade in promotion for Power Up Members

Starting to grate that everyone and his dog are confirming this event and details thereof, except Sony.

Well everyone already knew that. Curious to see what the Gamestop trade-in will be. Probably no more than $200 since they dropped it to $150 recently. Sly move there.

What difference does it make when we know it is gonna be there?

That person is a troll that has no intention to buy a Neo. Thought this was obvious by now. The lower the specs the happier he/she will be. Just oozes the "crabs in a barrel" mentality.

😕

I'd be alright with 4.2TF, even with just the upclocked Jag at this point. But the rumor of 3cm taller and 10 lbs got me back on the hype train.

Oh for fuck's sake! Hardware is what the hardware is. We can only hope that it is reasonable priced. Specifically for us Canadians.

If you can't see that is trolling I don't know what to tell you. Someone that has no intention to buy asking for lower specs then rumored...the charade is up.

On topic I'm in for whatever they announce, but I still believe it will be more powerful than expected and $449 or $499. I feel pretty good about that after being one of the few people that was absolutely convinced there would be a slim announced this year...months ago.

"Owning" a letter has nothing to do with it. I'm just stating obvious, common sense.

There are two letters in the alphabet that consumers currently associate with Sony's primary console competitors, and it is for that reason we can be sure that the Neo won't be named the PS4X or the PS4U, regardless of what happened over 20 years ago.

Instead of them increasing the clocks like many people expect, what are the chances of them simply adding a second identical APU, along with beefier cooling and a slightly bigger chassis to match? Developers could have a several options for leveraging the APUs:

Non-neo mode: disable one and the systems functions as a normal PS4.
Neo-mode A: One functions solely as a CPU and the other functions solely as a GPU. A significant power increase.
Neo mode B: Both function as APUs in a mode similar to SLI or crossfire. Again a significant power increase.

I would say no additional RAM to save costs (you have to cut a corner somewhere to lower the price on a mass-produced machine). Theoretically it would be literally twice as powerful as the original PS4 and simply adding a 2nd APU but keeping everything else the same won't double the price of the console... the APU alone must represent what, 50% the cost of the system?

($350/2) + $350 = $550 for a PS4 Neo.

Nature always love to balance things, you know.

If my comment was offensive, I do apologize. Wasn't intended that way if it indeed read that way. It was a sincere question about which other competitors use it other than Nintendo with NX for example. I don't recall.
