Today's leaked specs strongly point to something more than 4.2TF.

But it'll be fun to see people going "wow how did they do it??" come the 7th 😏

You know how the Playstation Neo is supposed to allow for a clearer image quality?
What if the Neo comes in a small rectangular box, and when you open it, it's....

I know it probably won't, but it would be neat if they managed to integrate the PSVR breakout box within the PS4 Neo. That way, you would only need to connect one set of wires (the main headset cable) into the PS4 and have only one HDMI cable (instead of having one from your TV to the breakout box and one from the breakout box to the PS4).

Jokes aside, apparently it's quite big and heavy (4.5Kg), and still uses Jaguar cores. Most people are leaning towards $499 price point (with a 1TB HDD).
 
I don't have a 4K TV and don't expect to get one in the foreseeable future, so I really hope the Neo does a lot more than that.

CoD will, it has to due to release date.

Destiny... unlikely. Maybe a resolution bump at best but my expectations are low if it even gets a patch.

Microsoft want Scorpio to actually be a replacement for XB1. Neo is just a premium PS4 and will be obsolete when PS5 comes out.

On man, I'd be salty as fuck if the hard drive is only 1TB on their goddamn premium unit. So cheap.

If they up clock it, it may be more than the 4.2 thats been reported, also it comes down to costs, no way Sony is going to lose money on this thing, as it is now, the possible price would be between 400-500

Anything more, we are back to the PS3 jokes.
 
For some reason I think they'll show FF7 RE on the Neo instead of FFXV.
It would have more of a wow factor and they wouldn't have a non-Neo version to compare it to.

Because there's no competition from Nintendo or Microsoft at the moment for a "high end" console. They own that segment once Neo launches, they can dictate pricing.
 
Forgive my confusion. Everything I read in most places says Jaguar cores, but back in Apr./May articles said not using Jaguar cores.

Here's a quote from one article:
The new 14nm FinFET APU consists out of eight x86 ‘Zen Lite’ LP cores at 2.1 GHz (they’re not Jaguar cores, as previously rumored) and a Polaris GPU, operating on 15-20% faster clock than the original PS4.

So, why the difference in articles in April and May to now where I read Jaguar?

$399 is the expected price for a new console from MS and Sony, not a "premium" console. Premium is more along the lines of OG PS3 $599 and launch Xbox One $499.

Thinking about it, since Sony have no competition in the premium market until Scorpio, they can get away with $499 and have the Slim be $299. That is a big enough price difference so that there is no confusion on what is the model PS4 one should get depending on budget.

I think some are missing that this is going to be a premium product and it being $399.99 which is only 50 more that a current PS4 is not what one thinks of a premium product. I'm thinking 449 to 499

Do you have a link to that article you quoted? Which articles are you talking about? I believe Eurogamer is the outlet that broke the story, and their story said it was using Jaguar cores.

I think Neo needs to be at $300 by 2019/2020 so that PS5 can enter at $400-$450. I also expect Scorpio to launch at $450-500, and if the Neo specs don't change, it likely needs to be at least $50 cheaper than Scorpio when Scorpio launches to be competitive. So, just because of how the market will need to adjust for future Sony and Microsoft products, I'd expect $450 is the absolute peak price for the product, and, depending on what Scorpio enters at and what Neo offers, no greater than $400 by Holiday 2017.

I agree with this just because I imagine PS4 will get at least one more price drop in two or three years. $200 now would mean PS4's MSRP could be $150 in 2019, which seems ridiculous. I think we're looking at $250-$300 for the Slim and $400-$450 for Neo.

What makes it more premium than the original PS4 at launch though? I don't get all this premium talk. Is it made out of gold or something?

Edit: $499 will piss people off, myself included. Just sayin'.
 
$499 too expensive will pissed people off make it cheaper; $399 too cheap must be weak AF make it more powerful, I'll pay more.
