New Nintendo Direct upcoming Live on September 1st at 16:00 CEST for 3DS

Yes, in it's proper Pikmin form.

But as someone pointed out, giving this the Chibi Robo treatment, I'm not sure what to think.

At least this is staying a little truer to the style.
The 3DS has no decent Real Time Strategy games, Nintendos one franchise that could work well for it, the make into another wording 2D platformer

Pretty much. Not even any word on Monster Hunter Stories :(

Overall meh, very safe direct id expect a lot of those games to sell well but im not too hot on any of them.

Best news was dates for 3rd party stuff like Ace Attorney and SMT.

Japan stream also had this AR card girl thing teaser and PuyoPuyo RPG, otherwise the same

All in all I'm set with the new Mii Plaza games tho :D

Guess I'm gonna have to rewatch the US stream later on to see Bill's wacky hobo adventures or whatever people were talking about here

So RIP individual Mario Sports games including Strikers, I guess

Mario Sports Mix existed on the Wii and that didn't prevent us from getting Mario Tennis Open, Mario Golf World Tour, or Mario Tennis Ultra Smash.

It's a compilation of sports games being made by, as far as I can tell from the Tennis footage, Camelot.

Considering I was expecting nothing, that was great. The Pikmin is obviously super early (they don't even have a name), so I'm not too worried abotu the footage for that not blowing my mind.

Mario Maker 3DS though, that's all I need. That was worth the entire Direct itself.

Sounds like they're preparing their audience to the NX concept with all those Wii U ports lol

I'm interested in most of the stuff they showed today (DQVII, AA6, Rhythm Paradise, Pokémon, Mario Sports, Ever Oasis, Mario Maker, Yoshi, Pikmin). Gotta buy that Fates New 3DS after all.

Was the tank game somehow related to the Wii Play minigame? Cause i have to buy that one too if that's the case

So why exactly are they keeping the 3DS alive into 2017? Isn't NX a portable and home console?
Imagine the meltdowns if it's just a console

man you guys have insane expectations lmao. I thought that was a fine direct even if it was a bit port heavy

not every direct is gonna be an e3 direct

Let's be honest, they had a lot more for 3DS than I thought they would. Granted it's cheap stuff and ports mostly, but it was a lot better than I expected.

So RIP individual Mario Sports games including Strikers, I guess

Individual Mario sports games had become a tough sell at the price Nintendo likes to charge. And for some reason they never put enough content in to justify them.

The Poochy Amiibo was the best part about the Direct. Day one. Also the Poochy shorts and the Poochy Pups. I could barely handle the cute on my screen. I also might get the Ocarina of Time Link Amiibo.

Nintendo interpreted the feedback as "people don't want Metroid anymore."

I think you're right. The fact that Metroid Prime: Federation Force has apparently failed to even chart in Japan means that it is increasingly likely that we'll not see a proper Metroid ever again :(

So why exactly are they keeping the 3DS alive into 2017? Isn't NX a portable and home console?

I guess they still see potential in making money off the 3DS... which is true.... and they can still have the NX come out and take money too.

You have zero proof that this isn't the game he was talking about.

Pikmin is a miyamoto child, I highly doubt this will have any effect on the future of the series.
It's ridiculous to make an assumption that it is

People should, you know, relax and not go crazy thinking pikmin 4 is dead?

Eh, didn't expect anything I'd be interested in to show up, looks like I was right.

Wait for NX continues....

Can anybody provide a list of stuff being shown? Not at home.

- Mario Maker 3DS except without internet
- One new character for Hyrule Legends as DLC
- Stuff we already knew was coming out
- Pikmin sidescroller

edit: oh and more Zelda amiibos that unlock BotW DLC, please look forward to it

2D Pikmin Platformer? I remember when this was called Kirby Mass Attack...

The trailer was quite clear. It said Winter. Now which Winter is another matter :(

It's probably going to better than Mario Tennis as well :(
It's just tedious having to wait again. Winter could mean anything from November to December. Obviously it's a better situation than SMTIV (or is it... I'd better not jinx it) but 7th Dragon at least should have been a quick turnaround.

I guess I should point my frustration at SEGA Europe rather than Deep Silver. If they weren't so shit in the first place we might have gotten it in a timely manner.

It honestly seems like because 2d platforms are easier to make they are just spinning their lesser franchises of into them so they have something to put out. It feels more lazy than a creative new direction.

No Metroid again.....after the feedback for Federation Force I thought we'd get something? A new 3D classic at least? Although Nintendo seem to have forgotten about them.

Haha, good. I say this as a Metroid fan, the "feedback" about FF was a bunch of spoiled babies crying about "not my Metroid".

Lol at people complaining about this Direct, when the NX reveal is prob later this month and NX is coming in March, what the heck were people expecting?

What the shit was that?

Pikmin 3DS, the game you can only describe as an adventure because it barely meets the requirements to be called an adventure game let alone anything else.

Dragon Quest was cool but i've never played the franchise (anyone recommend picking up either 7 or 8 when they come out as a first DQ game?)

I lost all hope in Phoenix Wright a long time ago. I gave Phoenix/Layton a try but Layton's gone to shit too and the two of them together was just... flat out bad.

Alolan Rattata was cool.

Oh yay. more mario sports. yipee.

Yokai Watch 2... surprised to see it localised but the game never really grabbed me. The combat seemed a bit simple and the story even moreso.

Ever Oasis I really don't like the chibi art style.

Confused about New Leaf. Do I have to buy the amiibo compatibility upgrade? Seriously?

If this is meant to make me excited for 3DS being continued for another 2 years it did a terrible job.

Wii U robbed..... Just wow. I'm happy then again I'm kinda shaking my head at some of the announcements.

It was a 3DS focused direct. Also, the Wii U is dead. 3DS has such a larger install base, why waste resources in the WiiU when NX is right around the corner?

A solid line up for an almost 6 year old system.

Definitely getting Monster Hunter Stories, the more I see of it the better it looks. The nintendo costumes totally sold it on me though. With Gran Turismo Sport pushed back I could definitely use something new in November. Though kind of hard to decide between MHS and SD Gundam: G Generation Genesis.

Edit: Motherfucking Momotarou Dentetsu is back!!

Pretty underwhelming. The most interesting things to me were the Mario Sports pack and the Tank Game. Still not sold one way or the other on Ever Oasis.

Pikmin sidescroller is genuinely not a good idea.

3DS is clearly on life support. Sure there will be a few good things before it passes, and there is so much on it already that I haven't gotten to. I am sure I will enjoy DQ7&8, and Pokemon. Probably Severed too. It's been a nice run.
