The OG PS4 LED bar has been RGB-ready since day 1.
Move & DS4 controllers use the same LED technology.
24-bit RGB LED = 16 million colors
I'd love it if they allowed us to customize the LED color.

MS is PCfying the XBOX. The hardware and peripheral prototypes they've been sourcing out show that. A modular xbox wouldn't surprise me.
Dual GPU huh? I'm good with that but I don't expect that to happen but if it does, yehey..
Battlefront is not locked 60fps on PS4.Regarding BF4 Beta:
Star Wars Battlefront Beta also had framedrops on PS4. The final product however was a locked 60fps.
Could be the same case with BF4 as they go from a Development (Debug) build to Production build.

How do you feel about octagons?Surprised there haven't been any leaks yet.
Pretty much as good as it gets: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJpeOG9Iqn8Battlefront is not locked 60fps on PS4.
Looks like you Guys now assimilate my Idea with the dual APUs..
~30Pages ago.. :
i still dont see why it would be so unrealistic.. with the shrink theres less watts\ hz .
And on that Devkit Arguement:
I think Sony could first deliver a single APU devkit and develop it further and maybe double the APU. They only need to watch out that the double APU can act as one if older code runs on it ..
and another thing:
if they realy got by surprise by Scorpie Specs in that late Phase of development, of course the could not alter the APU itself. But just double things is a in comparision easy way, i think. That and more Hz of course..
I think you may have some viewpoints I respectfully don't agree with.
Neo is under no pressure to be competitive with Scorpio in my opinion. That isn't what it is being built to do. It is more of a bump to the PS4 power before PS5 would hit sometime down the road. What does have some pressure to do in the minds of most people is perform a decent but better than Vanilla PS4/Slim and possibly deliver some 4K experiences as well either via some games and media.
Edit: people with a pretty strong PC won't want Scorpio in all likelihood, people without a pretty strong PC might go for it depending on costs.
The PS4 could do PS2 and PS1 BC if Sony wanted but instead they opted reselling the games with a premium. Though there is an argument here that emulation would be hard in the same way GPU BC was hard with the PS2 as the new system was not better in every regard to the PS2, here you have SPUs being a bit problematic with their memory architecture.that's not the reason. NEO would not have BC to begin with, its a PS4, PS4 can't handle it.
It's quite similar yes. The other trouble that MS also faces is latency. Even though Sony/MS can match the embedded memory pools in bandwidth with more modern memory but they can't match the latency so to achieve perfect binary compatibility is hard since it might add delay to some code that would break timing that can lead to runtime errors that are not possible to test. These issues become even worse with these systems too since their multi-threaded natures might cause race conditions where none previously existed.Fair enough. Sounds like the Xbone eSRAM emulation issue (>200GB/s of memory bandwidth) or even the eDRAM emulation (48GB/s) of the PS2.
So, maybe all we need is a fast enough RAM (GDDR5X, GDDR6, HBM2 etc.) to pull it off.![]()
My argument for 5TF is thus. Sony is currently using a 480X cut town to 36CUs capped to power state 2 for 4.19TF. A 480X at power state 3, is clocked at 1075MHz which in the Neo can yield 4.95TF which I round up to 5.What's the big deal with 5tflops >_>
Note that state 3 is less efficient than state 2, but, you get more performance. Now, the main disadvantage of less efficiency is more power draw and heat generation, but if the Neo is beefier in PSU and cooling, Sony could pull it off. They could even enable this in FW update if testing shows it is viable after launch.

How do you feel about octagons?
I think you will be...unless you are tied into the ecosystem already, the amount of exclusive titles to Xbox, particularly if you factor in PC, is getting less and less, with even first party stuff on both Xbox & PC.I've got a pretty powerful PC, and I'll buy a Scorpio. I may be in the minority (?) but I still feel that it offers me something I'm interested in.
anything new from ND will probably be Uncharted 4 single player DLCAside from the Neo console, what else do people expect to see in the event?
I think we have a very slim chance of Naughty Dog announcing a TLOU sequel. The first one was revealed in December 2011 and then released June 2013. So if they were to release their next game around the summer of 2018, so I don't think it would be too soon for them to announce what it is.
Did they make hardware accelerated octagons like the hardware accelerated triangles? is that the cheaper geometry rendering technique that's talked about in the PDF?
That's 8 triangles in each octagon
Aside from the Neo console, what else do people expect to see in the event?

LOL no, he's talking about the fact the the cross section of the Neo is octagonal (with a few curved edges).
I think it's just nonsense personally. Pre-conference Fever setting in, you guys need to go and actually play some games lol...That whole Dual GPU / APU discussion, I don't know, that just sounds like a far more expensive solution than a single GPU / APU approach. And that just sounds unreasonable for a console manufacturer who even got rid the optical audio output to save some cents per console.
Link?

Btw the dual APU theory is pretty much crazy, why would they need a dual APU to make a premium PS4?
This is NOT a PS5 or a next gen console.
That's on the slim not the neo. Systems like the Neo are meant to fight the race to the bottom pricing of a typical console race by introducing a new system when system margins shrink as pricing drops. They don't need to cut features because it will cost more. PS4 Slim on the other hand is meant to be cheaper so protects margins by decreasing cost where it makes sense which sometimes means less features in the case of the optical port and more features in the addition of 802.11ac wireless. That whole Dual GPU / APU discussion, I don't know, that just sounds like a far more expensive solution than a single GPU / APU approach. I said nothing about Dual APU I said something about PS4 APU as the CPU of Neo
Anyone expecting anything else is setting themselves up for a huge disappointment.Expect the leaked specs with a chance of a mild clock upgrade imo, nothing more nothing less.

I just finished Firewatch last night and getting ready for Valkyria Chronicles

Extra GPU in the PSU. Never forget. This all reminds me about, all the talk about Xbox One secret sauce, unlock more CPU's etc.

What does it offer that you're interested in? I have a powerful gaming PC and see 0 reason to own a Scorpio, other than I like tech gadgets, but it's definitely not going to be one I can justify with practically nothing that interests me any longer being exclusive to XBOX.

No chance. Announcing TLOU2 before revealing the UC4 SP DLC makes no sense to me.Aside from the Neo console, what else do people expect to see in the event?

Some people just want best looking FIFA/CoD in console form factor.

Just an FYI you can often find the charging stations in the video game clearance bins at Walmart
What was the date again for the Neo mode requirement? I'm going to need a Neo version of BF1 after trying that PC beta. Zero fun for me with all those KB&M dudes spazzing out.
i can dig a good chick flick...Holy genre change batman.
Last night I watched Kingsglaive and immediately after I watched a chick flick, felt good.
I'm doing everything I can to avoid joining in on the dual insanity discussion
