As I said, growing the 3DTV pie didn't help them, so they ditched it... I don't know why people think that 4K is going to become as ubiquitous as 1080p.Ideally Sony wants people to buy their 4K sets. But 4K growth benefits every player in the TV industry including Sony. Sony doesn't need to get a bigger slice of the pie as long as the pie is bigger overall so they make money either way. Also if the Neo catches on Sony gets money from the content and console sales.
Are you really sure that Xperia won't have the same fate as Vaio? That's like saying Sony shouldn't advertize their smartphones cause people buy iPhones and Samsungs anyhow...
Sony puts a lot of effort in marketing 4k TVs, of course they are going to push 4k with Neo.

What have you done Proelite.![]()
Xbox One S wasn't leaked till the day of the conference, right? Ain't safe till the show begins.
Because it already has. No-one actually made new 1080p models for 2016. In 2017 no-one will actually be making 1080p sets by 2018 all 1080p sets will be in clearance. Unlike 3D that was a way to push up adoption which it was partially successful in doing. 4K sets are replacing existing sets. And even until quite recently it was impossible to buy a good TV that wasn't 3D. It took a while to be truly abandoned. As I said, growing the 3DTV pie didn't help them, so they ditched it... I don't know why people think that 4K is going to become as ubiquitous as 1080p.
It's the same thing with DVD vs Blu-Ray: Blu-Ray never managed to become as ubiquitous as the DVD, despite the huge quality difference.
You know what? I'd rather have a 1080p60 OLED TV than a 4k30 LCD one.
There's no market need to push4K gaming right now. Leave that for the PS5.sub-

take this for what it's worth but yesterday talking to little birdie in the know at COD XP, final dev kits wont go out until the Sept 7th reveal and expect NEO to be higher than the original rumored specs. Late September/Early October launch.
I've had a few other winks and nods that NEO is out in Sept/Oct this year but this was the first time I've heard specs closer to Scorpio from some one on the dev side of the fence.

Sounds promising. We'll find out soon enough!
So it looks like the drawings? Ugh. Not a fan, but hopefully it looks better in person."No leaks, I'm surprised"
Besides sitting on official specs, chassis drawing from production floor, weight, internal documentation...![]()

You're a goddamn madman bringing that shit into this thread but I fucking love you for it.
How soon?
Really? I remember a lot of people saying it. The MHz myth is still strong. What? Nobody says this.
Back in 2000 AMD had launched a 1 GHz Athlon. It was way better than the Emotion Engine and yet, I don't remember any similar "outrage" at that time. Maybe because as I said social media didn't exist back then. The CPUs in the consoles are really weak in comparison to the current CPU technology available, even from when they first launched
Agreed. It's a shame that a GameCube remastered game (Resident Evil) run at 30fps on consoles, while Uncharted Trilogy and TLOU (PS3 era games) run at 1080p60.They're designed to be very power efficient, however they're also pretty weak when compared to the other CPU technologies available so it's very important to have efficient multi-threaded code to utilize as many cores as possible.
Uncharted 4 has open maps, it's not as linear as the previous ones. It also has lots of physics & destruction. I'm pretty sure that ND could make an equally good looking open-world game if they wanted to. And it's not like we haven't seen how exclusive open-world games look & play on the PS4 (Infamous Second Son)...Also, comparing Just Cause 3 to Uncharted 4 isn't a good idea, Just Cause 3 is third party multi-platform game with a large open world and destructible environments, Uncharted 4 isn't an open world game. It's also a first party game by Naughty Dog, a studio which is renowned for pushing technology to it's limits, they're also home to the ICE Team who have been involved with the development of the PlayStation 4's hardware and software from since it's genesis, they're pretty much the top studio for pushing the hardware of the PlayStation 4 to it's limits, and they mostly work with one system.
Fine, you want another comparison?Meanwhile, Just Cause 3 is made by a third party developer who created a game for three platforms, I understand what you mean by managing resources efficiently but it's not exactly an easy task, especially when comparing the work of a first party studio who work with one system and are well versed in utilizing it to the fullest.
If it's a matter of having a 2160p output, then an upscaler should suffice for games.PS5 is years away and right now there are millions of 4K TV owners who don't have consoles that are capable of outputting 2160p games.
It's the best time to start driving 4K adoption which is where the entertainment industries are headed.
I don't care where they are headed, some people say that they are headed towards VR. Doesn't mean I should invest in PSVR.PS5 is years away and right now there are millions of 4K TV owners who don't have consoles that are capable of outputting 2160p games.

Specs close to Scorpio with a year head start is huge if true. I am sure ms will boost its specs before launch next year as well to make it the most powerful console.take this for what it's worth but yesterday talking to little birdie in the know at COD XP, final dev kits wont go out until the Sept 7th reveal and expect NEO to be higher than the original rumored specs. Your sarcasm is uncalled for.I have good news for you. Nobody is forcing you to invest in anything.

I invested in motion gaming and now my Move controllers are collecting dust... why should I do the same mistake again?
Just because the industry is heading somewhere, doesn't mean I should follow the same route. I can just wait and see if it becomes mainstream. Do you get my drift?
14-16nm wafer yields will improve in 2017, so I guess this makes sense. Unless both Neo and Scorpio release at the same time.Neo can't have specs close to Scorpio.
If Neo is 6TF, Scorpio will be 8TF.
Yes, but then even the upcoming Scorpio would look weak so people who were holding out will just buy a Neo until the inevitable 'spec bump' by MS. The entire gamble MS is hinging on is that the 5.5-6TF of the Scorpio will look powerful enough that people don't switch to Neo and instead think jumping to Scorpio, that is already a hard sell. But it would already be the most powerful console.

Just like Blu-Ray was meant to be a permanent shift? Everyone has a DVD player, but not everyone has a Blu-Ray one, let alone UHD.Like I said, that's your call and you can wait. Nobody has a gun to your head.
But the 3D/motion gaming comparisons with 4K makes no sense. The TV, film and game industries aren't suddenly going to revert back to 1080p. 4K is a permanent shift, until 8K or whatever comes along.

e: I'm not saying they will match Scorpio, the closer they get the better as long as they don't bump the price too much.
