One question haunts my mind : If Sony is proposing a trade in program for Neo (mostly for the first year
like... Windows 10
), how are people who bought the PS4 in countries where there are no special gaming shops, just from random shops, or those who bought a PS4 from another country, supposed to take part in that trade in Program?
If they can't and are forced to buy a Neo, do they get compensation like free games or other stuff or do they curse themselves for not being lucky?

Don't expect Sony to do anything trade in related. The value of base PS4s are going in the toilet in 4 days.

"Forced to buy a Neo..." Seriously?

Y You aren't "forced" to buy a Neo.

By "forced" I meant those who can't benefit from the trade in program, if it is ever going to happen, which will "force" them to buy a PS4 Neo instead of just exchanging their PS4 with it (with some additional fees ofc) if they ever want to get a Neo.

wont really matter...because Sony isnt going to offer a trade in program

Yes I am almost sure of that. I was asking just in case.

I don't understand what is so difficult about selling your old PS4 on eBay, CG, or to Best Buy or GameStop.

There will NOT be a trade-in program, because there is absolutely no reason for one to exist.

The CPU issue makes it apparent that few games will get a framerate doubling up to 60, sadly. It's something I really wanted but just doesn't seem feasible for most titles.

Why do people keep saying this? We have games at 900p/60fps, which is obviously a desired feature. Nobody is saying every game will have a Neo mode.

Hey buddy. Who told you that I was talking about myself?
I know many friends who are interested with Neo and they don't know what they will do with their PS4. They were asking if there will be a trade in program, otherwise, they will be compelled to sell their PS4 to get a Neo. That is it.

Only Dice's Battlefield and Battlefront games this gen run at 900p 60 by default, because the game was built for 60fps. You could get 1080p 30, but that wasn't the intent when developing the game.

That says nothing about what the upclock of the CPU will allow for NEO compared to PS4.

My regular PS4 will move to my office when I buy the Neo. Seems like a good fit, everyone in the office can enjoy some games.

tell me who gonna buy an OR Ps4, when there are ps4 slim and neo on the market... ? may be you ?

I think devs could offer a choice between higher res but base FPS or 1080p at higher FPS (extra graphical effects are guaranteed with Neo) just like how NiOh is offering right now. It may work.

There are others. Actually, it does say 60fps is something the CPU can handle, a bump in res (especially to 1080p) is all in the GPU.

I already told you who would buy an "OR PS4". Read my last post in its entirety if you would like to know more...

In fact, I just sold my PS4 on eBay, last week, for $300.

Do you have any other questions that I can help you with?

I think I can't see there will be Neo and PS4 slim will be shown at the same time. I will see, at least not long to go to find out.

Since when have Sony/MS/whoever done trade ins like that? Except MS doing them in the states. If there is trade ins for it, it'll be done by the retailers, Gamestop or whatever.

I found those articles:

At E3, Microsoft revealed both Xbox One S and Scorpio. I don't think will have two events, one to reveal Neo the other for the PS4 Slim.

Yup.

It never made any sense that Neo would include the breakout box.

Because that would mean there are duplicate features for anyone who buys a PSVR if they own a Neo. It's confusing.

Far, far easier to separate out breakout box from Neo from marketing and SKU management perspective.

I think a far simpler reason. A breakout boxx integrated in the console might make the whole thing come crashing down with one wrong pull.

Have to imagine they'll announce livestream plans on Tuesday. Surprised they haven't already but they also haven't acknowledged the slim is out in the wild

Apologies if I have missed it, but did anyone manage to measure power usage (watts) for the PS4 slim?

Good question.
Also I want to know how power management is designed for Neo especially when the latest leaks say that there will be an external power brick for Neo to avoid extra heating and to make the console look less bulky.

I think an external brick is unlikely. The socket on the leaked pics looks like a PS3 power input.

I'm probably in the minority but if I was looking to get a basic PS4 i'd have the OG model. The new slim looks cheap and ugly.
You're not. I think you'd be hard pressed to find many people who think the PS4 Slim looks better than the OG. And the OG wasn't that big of a console to begin with, so it's easy to see why some people would prefer it.

Heck, the buyer I sold my ps4 to last week told me exactly that. She was fully aware of the Neo & Slim coming out soon.

Then there's the whole optical port thing as well.

I think that quite a lot of people will find a 249/299 PS4 Slim much more attractive than a 349 OG PS4.

Where are these leaks you speak of? All we've heard was that the neo uses a bigger plug, as in a 3 prong instead of the current 2 prong.

I don't think there are ANY leaks that say that lol...

This is assuming any OG PS4 stock remaining on the shelves will stay at the 349 pricepoint when the slim is put on the market at a lower price, which is not likely at all.

Sony aren't calling a PlayStation meeting just to announce a slim version of their console. They would have done that at E3 if that's all they had to talk about. Last PS Meeting was the PS4 reveal in 2013, and the one before that was Vita in 2011. Neo will be there on Wednesday.

Here is a rough Google Translate of the Playstation Blog Spain post about Playstation Meeting:

''Do not miss our conference Sept. 7 and discover the future of the game

Pay close attention to PlayStation.blog to see first hand what we have to announce

If I remember those meetings happened at the beginning of the year (around February iirc). I remember how many were surprised (angry to be more exact) about Sony to reveal the PS4 but not show the console itself. This the first time it happens in such month. I hope they won't be toying with us with all the leaked designs then they won't reveal the console itself (I mean only talk about the specs like they did in the PS Meeting of 2013), but wait for PSX to show it and announce the price.

Proposing a trade in program............what the fuck?

I'm not buying one partly because I'm happy with my current PS4 and I don't plan on buying a 4K TV for awhile. With that being said, if there's obvious performance increases especially to the OS and games benefit more than just a resolution upgrade than I'll consider getting one sometime down the line.

NEO is a big PSVR machine by the leaks, it should launch close to October 13th.

I doubt they'll do that again, honestly. And if 2016 is still the motive, then they definitely won't.

Yes. Unless they will wait for next year if they opted for the more potent sku in order to sell it at cheaper price. This will give them another opportunity to talk about Neo at PSX (otherwise what would they talk about, at it?).

Well, this means Sony will ship 2 PlayStation devices at the same period: Neo and PSVR (3 to be exact if you count PS4 Slim). This isn't a good strategy especially for those who plan to buy the two. Also this would destroy PS VR for the regular PS4 if they ever ship them at the same time especially if there is a big difference between VR on regular PS4 and on Neo. It is just like announcing PS4 Neo as soon as they announced the PS4. You know what would have happened.

I think they need to give PS VR a little chance on regular PS4 first.

Phasing out optical is inevitable as it just doesn't have the bandwidth required for newer audio formats. It will disappear, if not on the Neo then definitely on the next console. The market always provides solutions, though:

If this doesn't have an optical port, it should have 2 HDMI OUT for backwards compatibility with non HDCP 2.2 receivers for audio

That's what UHD Blu-ray players have
