I'm pretty sure they'll give the specs to the press sometime after the event, but they won't talk about it during.

You sound oddly sure about this but there is overwhelming evidence that Neo is to be announced tomorrow*. If you believe the Foxconn guy they have been making Neo for nearly a month and they wouldn't be doing that if wasn't coming out in the next two months.

It'll be by far the most powerful console on the market for maybe a year or longer. Hell looking at how the X1 was launched, it might even be a limited launch for scorpio next year or it might even be delayed in some countries. I don't think so personally, MS must have learned, but it could.

Whether Sony talks about specs or not isn't all that important. They're not selling you teraflops, they're selling you an upgrade, but what kind of upgrade? Teraflop numbers mean nothing, but performance figures? Now we're talking. 4K? That means something. 60 frames per second? That means something.
The bottom line is they can say Neo will have 4TF, 5TF or 6TF, but what really matters here is what the box can do for the enthusiast looking for a premium product, so while I think they'll talk about specs in some form, their top priority is showcasing how games will look on it.

Then again there has been zero build-up/hype for this event from Sony and there hasn't been a single mention/article of Sony from EG/DF since being told to take down the slim video? and little to none from other game sites.

Not really. One day barrage before the event will work. Mix that with other SIE entities confirming and ND already coming out and saying they'll be there, we have the recipe for mega tons. I'm starting to feel like the sony is too quiet before e3 thing is happening again

I would speculate that at this stage of the game (only being mere hours from the Sony conference) it is at least possible the NEO won't be announced simply because in 2016 no product is leak free. Where are the leaks, gaf?? Shouldn't we have something factual by now?

I know Andrew House name checked Apple available now but this is pushing things to the extreme. I joked before that Sony would announce the event at 14:55 PM EST on the 7th. I might be right!

That's an (intentional) software limitation on PS4, not a hardware one.

I think the silence is calculated. The target market is already aware the product is coming and speculation is rampant. Everyone wants to see it in action. The territories that have confirmed it, Korea and Spain, have given us enough proof that the other regions will be speaking on it soon enough. Get hyped milk. This should be good fun
We already have an unannounced feature to think about. Any new game announcements will be great. The idea that this won't be a major event is pretty ludicrous. There's no need for a PlayStation meeting if it won't be a major event. I don't get why people don't see this
