I expect PSNeo will officially be called PlayStation 5. Then Sony will announce from this point onwards, every new iteration of PlayStation consoles will be fully backwards compatible with PS4 games onwards, newer games will work on older consoles until they're just too much for it to handle (similar to smartphones). PS5 will have a catchphrase similar to Scorpio's "Beyond Generations", thus ending the traditional console cycle as we know it.

We're getting crazier.

What's up with that music?

I know its horrific haha.

Serious thoughts here. I want a new dash/xmb, something that tells me im on a premium PS4 and freshens up the experience three years in. More integrated features eg. picture in picture streaming for multi-video chat & youtube viewing in game, simple things.

As for the title, i think Neo works ok as a brand name, its logical and could be reused in the future. However as someone mentioned earlier, PSX4 would be be silly to pass up on as its is easy to associate the the X as an extreme-machine(?) while also honouring the original PSX.

I also expect a higher price than the £349 PS4 shipped at, why else go premium?

As Andrew House said “If you are a person who’s just purchased a 4K television, maybe there’s not that much content around right now, so there’s something interesting about games being able to fill that gap and offer that experience. Those are the fundamentals of Neo.”

I still vote for it to be "PlayStation".
That's all. It's just the 2016 model PlayStation. Next one will be the 2018 model, etc.etc.
Back of game boxes will have a minimum spec of which model you need. The future is here.

£100 short. GBP not what it was, we can only dream of the good old days of $1=£1.

We will see. If I'm wrong I'll blame the gin. If I'm right it was all my own work.

We're only 400ish posts away from the magic 10,000 replies to this thread. Come on everyone, don't let the lack of real info stop us now. There's room in this padded cell for everyone!

So will it just be a hardware reveal or will there be some new games, demo, etc (like e3)?

It'd be kinda insane to show off the Neo but no games, but I think it'll mainly be already released titles with maybe promises like "Battlefield 1 will get an update to X res X fps" and that sort of thing. Show brand new titles and suddenly people don't know what console it's running on :P Like they could show God of War and...well didn't hte e3 demo already run at 1080p/45+fps?

I just want more info on the USB/PC Wireless Dualshock adapter. Is Sony releasing universal drivers for Bluetooth or will it require the adapter?

Times have changed as has the UK economy.
Not by that much lol. At worst the exchange rate might add £20/30 to whatever it would have been before.

EDIT: And since the UK usually always got charged more, yes even taking tax into account, they might take the hit to keep it a nice round figure. I honestly expect same price as launch PS4. There's simply nothing that we know about to justify anything significantly more than that.

£490 would be my guess for the UK.... unfortunately.

That would be a bold move from Sony.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I would be out at that price. I've got a 2016 UHD HDR TV and really want a Neo for its UHD Blu-ray capability, along with better PSVR and PS4 games, but that price is just too high.

That's double a 500gb Xbox One S, which was my next choice for a UHD BD player. I would probably have already got a 2tb version if it wasn't for all the problems with UHD BD playback.

i'll pay up to $500 for the NEO, not a penny more

$500 dollars for the NEO? HELL NO. We're not even talking Playstation 5 here. We're talking about a premium and optional console upgrade. To hell with that $500 price tag. $350 to $430 is much better.

$400 is the min this thing going to cost even saying something like $350 is crazy.
Just because it optional don't mean it can't cost a fair amount .
Once it got the specs to back up that price it's okay .

So... are you saying that the NEO is near to Scorpio in terms of power? How is a $500 price tag justified for a NEO?

$499 has nothing to do with having a new generation. It has to do with what's inside the console. The retail price of the console is heavily reliant to the cost of making the console. We do not know what is in the NEO... If it's what was leaked from months ago, it should be $399.

If anything a $499 is more viable now than it was with a PS3 or XB1... There's going to be an entry ($249-$299) PS4... The Neo will be COMPLIMENTING the PS4... not replacing it.

I can't believe we've not only seen a PS4 Slim in the wild, and a PS4 Slim Review, but now even a full-on teardown of the PS4 Slim.

... A console that hasn't even been announced yet.

Sony needs to get a plummer.

(Though I wouldn't mind a bigger NEO leak...)

I hope Sony see's the funny side of the the Slim leak ...would have been fantastic if they could have kept under wraps until Wednesday but alas...

Yea, I'd rather the damn neo leak then a freaking ps4 slim that everyone knew would come eventually.

Ok guys, regarding to the next Red Dead, there was a lot hype around E3. Now time has come. (well, I hope so, for the 145275th time.)

because it could theoretically cost $450+ to manufacture?

We do not know the specs. People saying $499 are speculating that it will have bumped up specs from what was leaked months ago.

In this thread we've gone from:
1. Expecting the Neo to have a second APU/GPU.
to
2 Expecting the Neo to be an N64 expansion pack like add-on for the PS4 slim.
to
3. Expecting the Neo to actually be the PlayStation 5.

The past few weeks have been a fun ride ahaha. I'm not sure I want it to end... I hope the conference gets delayed.
like FFXV & GT Sport

Didn't follow this thread as it would've made the wait longer but I jumped back in on the eve of the announcement just to see the unrealistic expectations reach critical level.

I going to wait but 4K tvs are not at a bad price right now.
Plus you get UHD player .
Games being above 1080p upscale to 4K would still look better than normal 1080p .
So if you can get 4K tv at good price don't see why you should not buy it .

Debatable...1080p upscales perfectly to 4k...and would like identical on screens the same size...

Intermediate resolutions will have artifacts from the upscaling process...

What if they just name the slim the "PS4 Slim" and the Neo just PS4.

The Slim will just be the PS4...because as with slim revisions before it, Sony will stop production of the OG PS4 (if they have not already)...once stock is gone, it will just be replaced with the slim model...the Neo is different, it's not intended to replace the existing PS4
