I fully expect MEGATONS.

A. Everyone in the audience gets a free Neo!
B. The Neo has a silver case with dual APUs and GDDR5X instead of GDDR5 and 50% more RAM too.
C. FFXV is shown running on the Neo at 5k down sampled to 4K, 60 fps locked, 8x msaa.
D. Every Neo comes with a lifetime subscription to PlayStation Plus.
E. Neo is backwards compatible with PS 1-3 discs. Then they make a deal with Sega so that it can play Dreamcast and Saturn discs too.
F. The cooling is so beefy that the system is 1/3 loud as before and the disc drive is 1/2 as loud. Disc drive plays UHD discs.
G. The first 10,000 Neos are autographed by Cerny and Kaz.
H. You can stack them together for double power, but they forget to add a limit of 2 consoles to the algorithm and power scales linearly so you can stack many together for all teh powaaaa, until it gets patched.
I. FF7 sequel is unveiled as Neo exclusive and Sony doesn't care because it basically prints money.
J. 2TB ssd.

just joking

All of that and the PS4 Neo still doesn't support an external hard drive.

Seriously? You treat that with a desmisive level is scepticism but jump on everything else. Seemed as legitimate as anything else tags been thrashed about in this thread . Elite joypad too seems confirmed which was also shot down when someone else posted a link to it yesterday. Ho hum.

That elite pad is a 3rd party without a brand that is a rip off to the Xbox Elite pad down to the packaging

I believe that a possible spec bump will come down to the cooling solution they are using.

I think it´s obvious that the hardware was finished months ago, also there just is no other CPU/GPU they can put in for the 399/449/499 price tag.

So they could only increase the clock speed on the CPU/GPU, which comes down to, if their cooling solution had some room left (as the Xbox One did) or they were going for a compact system with no room left (as our current PS4)

This is sensible, the only thing I can't fathom is if the box is a large as Foxconn artist impression imply then shouldn't they have the 'room to spare' to ramp the gpu up to the next power state and get a healthy TF boost with a relatively minor temp hike?

I'm just gonna go in thinking there's zero spec bump to compete with the Scorpio, that way it will be no big deal.

I hope during the Meeting or during press soon after they make it clear whether or not Neo will do anything for people without 4k displays. Phil Spencer said Scorpio wouldn't do anything for you if you didn't have one, but it'd be cool if Neo did.

Since the old pdf mentioned that developers could detect the display resolution and enable/disable some features that would suggest so.

You actually think NEO won't do anything for people without 4K TV's?

Why the heck would downsampling or the fps performance or the potential graphical or other IQ enhancements not count just because of what TV you have?

I don't think we should be speculating on spec bumps and competing with Scorpio, a machine that by all intents and purposes doesn't even exist yet. Scorpio comes out next year. If Sony tries to spec bump now in regards to GPU, MS will just further spec boost to compensate for the difference. You can't help a 12 month difference in technology

my predictions:

- PS4 Slim: $99
- PS4 Neo: $899 and 15 lbs. (4tb SSD, includes full PS1/2/3/P/V BC)
- Baked in PS+
- Elite Controller announced, it's actually the Vita 2
- RDR3 announced, lifetime exclusive

Predictions

- Modest spec bump to get closer to competion
- affordable prices @ $249 $ $449 without bundles
- PSVR a big focus
- Renamed to something more mainstream
- A few titles showcased mostly from in house devs
- One big reveal from 3rd or first party
- Devs talking about what they can do with with the system
- PR repeating how systems complement each other
- Sales update
This would satisfy me.

I see what you're saying, but I still think your scenario is too specific that it's not something the majority of pubs and devs will need to worry about.

How many games nowadays really have direct competitors like that? There really aren't any alternatives to games like Witcher 3, Deus Ex, NBA 2K, Madden, Mass Effect, etc

In your scenario it makes sense for a developer to go all out in a Neo mode but I don't think that applies to a large part of the industry.

Neo owners are going to be the minority. 40 million OG owners > 5 million Neo owners and less than half of those Neo owners being upset about the lack of upgrades

Perhaps we'll agree to disagree.

I see it a bit like force-feedback wheel support: the proportion of people impacted by omitting the feature would be minute, but devs put in the effort to support it anyway.

Neo support probably won't be a financial life-or-death decision for devs, but deciding to omit it is significant.

I hope Kojima is there, bout time he revealed DS is PT with a Gameplay video.

Oh i think it will, I just meant I hope they make that clear in the way that MS did for Scorpio. Cautiously optimistic about the price in the UK.

MS went back on that and said the power could be used for whatever

why are you so defensive of gamepur DOT com?
Not really per se but I've kep an eye on their stuff for a while now and they're pretty good at breaking news and gossip. Quite a good hit rate.
And on another note , I guess was really being more defensive about being dismissed outright likely due to me being green banner boy and a new poster .
Thanks for the welcome.

A modest prediction for a member of Neogaf.

It's ridiculous tbh, everyone will get pissed at Sony for not meeting their crazy predictions lol
Yep.
It'll end up being 4.2/4.5TF as expected, 1TB HDD with UHD drive and the same good ol' 8Gb of DDR5, $449 ($249 for Slim, or $299 bundle), and everybody is going to say "Boring! Where's my 8TF? External HD!! 16GB memory! 2TB SSD!!!"

Better having low/ reasonable expectations and be pleasantly surprised imo :)

Prediction: Hanna Montana makes a cameo, talks about watching her latest surprise release xxx movie in 4k hdr.

Taco Time caters the event and announces that they will have a special $8 box where people could win a PSMove.

Rockstar shows up and announces that table tennis 2 is psvr exclusive; upon announcement, the CEO lets forth a hellish scream that sounds something like "I'm finally free!" and is seen removing chains that have the triangle/square/circle/cross symbols on them.

PSSlim is actually a CAD design so you can 3d print your own.

Close show to full orchestra.

I was trying not to let the silence get to me, but I'm really shocked there's been nothing substantial leaked and very little official mention from Sony about this event... I hope it doesn't disappoint.

The good thing about the HDD bay being on the back of the Slim (and hopefully Neo) is that you could easily connect a regular 3.5" HDD and hide it somewhere.

Edit: Wow, I had no idea that you can buy a 10 TB HDD now. I wonder if the PS4 would even support that.

No way man!! Just no way!! Taco Bell has all the promos. I have to call everything else into question.

I'm really excited. At 1080p with 4.2TF, you can push better graphical fidelity. I want to see ND push this thing to the limit.

And speaking of which, could Uncharted Story DLC get a neo mode?
