There's another company that owns XVideos that has also started their own legitimate porn site as well. So it's not "the big porn companies". It's one big one, and another little one that just got into producing legitimate porn in the past couple years.

And most of the videos on tube sites aren't free advertisements. Most of them are full videos illegally uploaded. Some companies do post edited versions of their vids, but they don't even come close to making up the majority of the videos on any major tube site. As a general rule of thumb, anything less than 10 minutes is usually something the company has given away for promotional purposes, but anything more than 10 is usually just illegally uploaded with a few exceptions (for example, Blacked's promotional videos are usually about 12 minutes long). So unless you're sticking to videos that are less than 10 minutes long, or posted by the people in them, then no, most of the movies you're watching aren't up there legally.
