Why is my PC running so slow?

Just from a quick look I see Free Download Manager. That seems like a source of the spyware. Go to your control panel and get to uninstalling programs, uninstall things that aren't familiar.

I'm going to guess you've been downloading stuff that has like "offers" for bullshit that the launchers make it seem like you need to agree to that can be ignored, but you're agreeing to them. You need to re-evaluate how you browse and download. My brother and his fiancee would frequently riddle the old laptop I gave to them with stuff like that I'd have to clean up everytime I visited.

I have to go against the recommendations for using CCleaner and cleaning the registry unless you know exactly what you are doing and what you are deleting. Do a check and then let someone knowledgeable make sure it's all stuff that can be deleted without any adverse effects. It should really be one of your last resorts to fixing your PC, and if it does make a significant difference, a clean format and reinstall is more than likely in order.

I think he's not so much talking about ransomware, but those stupid pop-ups that try and stop you from using the browser with a popup that you have to call some number to get help.

On Windows they usually come from dodgy sites, but on Android I have seen ocassionally seen them on completely legitimate tech/forum sites, and they can make it impossible to even use their page sometimes in Chrome.

Also OP, how long has it been since you accepted whatever Defender wanted? Maybe it is running complete scans on your system? You said you had 5 SSD/HDDs total, probably a lot of scanning to do if it was recent. Check the CPU/Disk/Network usage and report if anything is unusually high.

I have already done the CC cleaner and disc check. It still seems to work but I have to login to some sites again. I clicked the Defender thing yesterday when it all started going to shit. I went to bed it working normally and then went to bed and woke up to it not working at all. I recently turned Defender off and it's still slow.

Seriously, do you have a Windows disk? Just reformat and start over. It will be quicker, in all honesty.

Get rid of this one C:\Program Files (x86)\Free Download Manager\fdm.exe

And is Torch your browser? If not, delete anything related to that also I think.

Torch is one of those hijacked browsers that he most likely got tricked into installing. So he thinks he's launching Chrome or w/e but something he download prior offered it to him and he agreed and it intercepts the commands to provide him with ads and redirects traffic for their revenue.

What do you mean, login to some sites again?

And please don't turn off your virus scanner, they protect you from worse. Defender is not slowing down your PC. If you run multiple virus scanners, disable all but one.

My guess also, since he also runs Firefox there. Needs to be removed.

Edit: Easiest solution is to just do a reset to factory conditions or reset Windows if you can. Backup your files, or have them on a cloud storage. Takes a few hours to get everything how you want it maybe again, but at least you're sure everything works again as it should.

Like I am not sure, what hell is going on. I turned off Windows Defender and AVG but it still feels like I am walking through 5 feet of mud. It's pretty damn unusable. It ruined my Free porn day.

Cause it's a PC.

People in this thread will provide a hundred different "solutions" which will take you hours, if not days, to try. They might have an effect, they might not. But in a week, you'll be back to same thing. Windows is built on crumbling infrastructure that is coded to start running poorly after X amount of time. It's by design, and there's absolutely no real solution.

Buy a Mac. You'll thank me.

I didn't check to see what was removed I just clicked finish and restarted. It was the first time in a long time in a long time I ran it. As for dodgy sites, no more than usual. Sure I get the odd ransom ware that insists I need to pay money to use my browser. All of this shit started when the flag at the bottom right of my PC gave me a notice about Windows Defender and I clicked accept. Prior to that I had just changed my motherboard and added some old hard drives to my PC.

It's time to burn it all down and start over. I don't think I've had malwarebytes pick up 350 things in my life, much less in one scan.

Macs get problems and slow down too. Better to just use pen and paper.

Exactly my story - laptops is using 100% disk after Win 10 Anniversary update :(

Check drivers.

Let it delete that stuff. Then restart. Run CCleaner and let it clean up stuff. Also in CCleaner let it check your registry. This is all just clicking easy buttons and done.

After that pick either Defender or AVG as your virusscanner, not both. But do leave one running.

Also delete crap you don't use and need. Uninstall programs you don't need. Then check your startup programs and disable stuff you don't need. This can be done in CCleaner also.

I would mention running ccleaner before doing malwarebytes in the future it will clear up a lot of junk malwarebytes will not have to scan through.

Old hard drives may have been infected.

ccleaner is pretty safe when you do a registry clean. Have never had a problem with it and you can backup the registry before you begin.

As for the Malware bytes log I see a lot of Pup.optional. stuff

Basically you have a shit ton of problems and junk running and installed. Also why do you have AVG installed as well as Avast and Defender?

I would recommend downloading Junkware Removal Tool http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/junkware-removal-tool/

Also do a scan with ADW Cleaner http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/

Also do CCleaner and run the registry cleanup, when it asks if you want to backup things save the backup to the desktop.

After that and removing those programs above do another hijack this log.

When i used cleaner i deleted cookies.
Did you do all the other things also? Cookies don't really matter that much. The program cleans up other temp files also. The registry check fixes broken things there and removes unused stuff. And the startup screen gives you the option to prevent things from starting up.

And remove the programs talked about above that are adware or malware.

But the safest thing is to just reinstall. Backup your files and do a clean reinstall to get rid of everything that you don't want. It will be a better solution, but takes a bit more time.

Macs get problems and slow down too. Better to just use pen and paper.

I've had macs since 2005. They are awesome machines and they don't slow down.

OP. Why aren't you doing a clean install of the OS?

I am lazy when it comes to reinstalling everything. Also I got my windows key from Reddit and when I changed my motherboard it is giving me shit about my version of Windows not being genuine. This is a new thing it never happened before.

Reinstalling stuff is super easy, especially if you use Ninite

And it's possible MS disabled your Windows key. A lot of stolen keys were floating around Reddit

If you're on Win 10 the motherboard swap might have interfered with your digital entitlement, which is tied to your hardware. Usually a phone call to MS support can fix that quickly (I'm not sure how it goes when buying a key from r/microsoftsoftwareswap, which I'm guessing is where you got it, but you should be fine).

As some others have said, you can possibly improve speed and performance with a variety of methods (defrag HDDs [not SSD], remove crapware, virus scans, etc.) but a clean install will be easier and better in the long run. Sometimes there's just too much residual junk floating around in the system.

Take note of what programs you need and use. If there are any program settings you want to preserve, people can help you figure out how to do that (sometimes achieved by backing up config files in appdata folders). Backup all other personal data files (if you have those on separate HDDs it'll be easier to set up your new installation, but backups are important regardless).

If you want you can also make a disk image of your current OS SSD with a 3rd party tool like Macrium Reflect Free, AOMEI Backupper, or EaseUs Todo Backup. That way, if you needed to retrieve a file from your current (soon to be old) install you could do so by mounting the disk image in your new/future clean install.

My TRON run finished. It didn't find any issues, but I keep my PC pretty damn clean. Definitely try running that OP, if you don't want to do a clean install

I fear I might have to do a clean install or run Linux cos it's just not happening. I ran malware bytes and purged all the stuff on that, I ran super anti spyware for like 7 hours and did the same, downloaded missing drivers and it's still slow as shit.

Create a USB installer with the official tool from MS and reinstall. Much less headache and you'll have a fresh system in less than an hour.

P.S.: Remember to back up your porn.

Macs are boring, NeXTcube is where it's at
My brother says it works now. He removed and plugged in the ram again. FFS
seems reasonable, did you ever check if the pc was constantly using the pagefile and thus being slower than heck

The task manager didn't seem to be ridiculously high it was at like 40% with only like 10 tabs or so open. I have about 20 tabs open and the while RAM is at 70% the logitech Gaming Framework is only using 20MB or so instead of 120MB before.

Reformat. Just because Malwarebytes said it removed items, doesn't mean that it didn't miss items. I work in IT. Just a few weeks ago, we used Malwarebytes to try to clean a computer that had difficult to install and configure software. There's some deep embedded stuff that must be replicating because more stuff popped up again a week later so finally we just have to reformat the computer. If you only saw Malwarebytes showing 1 item, I would even reformat. It's the only way to be sure.

Superantispyware truly gave a deep clean.
