She's from Arkansas people saying 80 degrees and humidity is hot are insane.

Maybe if she took off the wool pant suit she'd be comfortable.

I feel for her, but this is not a good look. No hiding that video either.

Actually she's from Chicago

This video us going to be shown over, and over and over again. Right-wing media especially, is never gonna let this die. It is not a good look no matter how you slice it. This unfortunately matters because perception is reality. People don't want to vote for someone who they perceive to be unhealthy or weak.

But will that make Trump's polarizing views and attitude, as well as his total alienation to key minority groups he needs, simply go away?

Why? What does this fainting and in broader terms her general health have to do with that? Nobody is saying "Hah, she cant win now, go Trump!!".
Are we reading the same thread?
From less than an hour ago:

Wow, we're actually going to have President Trump. Who would have thought?

Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.

Fuck, that video is going to be on the news 24/7 for the foreseeable future, this is really bad for the undecided voters. I don't think I could handle a Trump presidency, even with an ocean separating me from the US.

For the love of god dont let this be the reason trump becomes president

Like I said, thread's going to be hillaryous in November.

You forgot the effect of something like this happening during nationally televised a debate.

Even though I highly doubt that something similar would even happen to her in the midst of a nationally televised debate, she should definitely keep herself super hydrated - especially when she gets around to flinging the shit she has on Trump. God knows how long that list would be.

Here we go...

oh come on, you really thihnk the whole frail/weak thing would be getting pushed if she were a man?

People cough. People faint. People get hot. Especially when wearing suits and bulletproof vests in 80 degree weather early on a morning.

It means nothing

What? Franklin Roosevelt's declining health was deliberately hidden from the public to avoid people from thinking he was going to die. Health of a president is a big fucking deal.

Yes it is, but has any recent president been targeted to this extent for their health? Inevitably, one of them has to have coughed or sat down at one point or another.

But will that make Trump's polarizing views and attitude, as well as his total alienation to key minority groups he needs, simply go away?

No, which is the only thing that still gives me any confidence. I'm just worried about a perfect storm scenario for Trump, and shit like this doesn't help the fear.

Stay far away from Fox News, you know they are going to air this at nauseum.
lol they are probably assembling a who's who of quack doctors to come and diagnose hillary with every ailment under the sun. hillary has already lost next week so she might as well make herself very visible to damage control as much as possible. also we can almost guarantee trump will make some unforced error as well if he feels emboldened by this.

This wouldn't be a big deal if she wasn't a woman

Some of this straight up nonsense.

"Hillary's too weak and old! And what about the debates?! We need a replacement!"

Yes let's ignore the full year of campaigning all over the fucking country and constant debates where she didn't faint or have health problems beyond a stray cough.

Christ people, everyone needs to shimmer down a bit. Yes it is unfortunate Hillary got sick and had to leave, thus reinforcing the stupid narrative Repubs have been spouting, but Hillary is in no way in danger of losing this election, or dropping out. Of course if this becomes a repeating problem, THEN we can all freak the fuck out.

No, which is the only thing that still gives me any confidence. I'm just worried about a perfect storm scenario for Trump, and shit like this doesn't help fear.

I'm not terribly worried. While I do think this has the risk of hurting Democrat turnout, I think that strong campaigning from Barack, Michelle, Joe, and Chelsea can do wonders to at least ensure that she wins.

At this point I've not much hope in seeing South Carolina, Missouri, Georgia, or Arizona go blue, but I think that Hillary can still get Obama's EV total from 2012.

A guy fainting I would think would be a much worse look in the narrative, particularly if these were two men.

But this is my exit. Y'all have fun.

It is like you are intentionally ignoring me. I have specifically said a few times, what is there to discuss. I'm not saying you cannot have a discussion nor am I saying it isn't worthy. I'm saying what is the discussion.

Should I alter my vote based on this? Why does this mean she may be hiding poor health?

Neither of these candidates have been forthright with regards to their health. Trump released a comical health report, but we aren't going to get more from him that is for sure.

I just don't get why she is held to such a higher standard.
i think people are talking about perceptions here

I don't know if there are any videos of candidates from other elections fainting on the campaign trail. Legit discussion on if this will affect her chances IMO. Plus, she fainted.

This wouldn't be a big deal if she wasn't a woman

Some parts, agreed. But, this is where we stand now, and this will be used as ammo against her. I don't imagine a video of Obama fainting/stumbling would have done well to dispel any notion that he was sickly. They are saying that shes sick.. then this video happens. Just a bad look.

Lots of people were concerned about McCain being old and frail when he was the candidate.

McCain was a cancer survivor, older, and as Kev pointed out, President Palin is scary, President Kaine is not.

Not to say that it was okay, but the health conversation had a lot more substance to it.

... holy shit

that's another +1/+2 Trump right there.

Bernie and his Communist/Socialist "Baggage" lookin' really attractive now.

Bernie is 75, he would be the oldest President ever. If he never coughed or sat down once on his campaign, they would find something to pin a health crisis onto.

So if Trump had a 4 minute coughing fit, then this episode... You would react how?

Please tell me.

Tell me that you would think it's a non-issue and defend it as "happens to everyone!".

US political system is so fucking fucked if this is really something worth freaking out about. People are actually saying this says something about her quality as a politician or a leader?

Guess what: People get sick! It's a crazy concept.

It's really hard for me to imagine a Democratic voter who would've gone for Hillary staying home on Election Day because she fainted on an 80 degree day.

Mostly because Sarah Palin was the VP...

There was a lot of, "Mccain is a ghost who is going to die in office"-talk around that election. But yeah Palin killed him in the end lol.

Yeah, low voter turnout for democrats, due to lack of enthusiasm is a worry. Even though I think a lot of people will want to show up to vote against Trump. Still hoping AZ can turn blue this year, would be nice to have my vote have some weight towards the president this cycle!

It's really hard for me to imagine a Democratic voter who would've gone for Hillary staying home on Election Day because she fainted on an 80 degree day.

Let me rephrase.

What I meant to convey was soft Democrats/independents/anti-Trump Republicans who could be turned off of her by these """health scares."""

I would imagine that in any other country, if a candidate for the highest office fainted, they would be seen as weak. Its not a US exclusive thing.

Have you heard of John McCain? One of the main arguments against him was he was old and could die at any time.

I don't really remember McCain's health/age becoming a major talking point until after she picked Palin as his running mate, but I could be wrong.

I think a Republican nominee following an extremely unpopular Republican president, paired with a batshit running mate and reassuring everyone that the foundations of the economy were strong a week before it collapsed probably did him more than any questions about his health did, anyway.

I think someone earlier was asking about presidential candidates and health. Off the top of my head, George H.W. Bush famously vomited on the Japanese prime minister and fainted, George W. Bush choked on a pretzel, and there's Reagan, but I'm not sure if he was displaying signs of Alzheimer's by the time his re-election bid started. Either way, their health wasn't major talking points of campaigns as far as I can remember. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
