2016 NFL Season OT - Week Two - The Dream is Dead

At some point you just have to let them have it, this is their Super Bowl. You need to treat them like sleepwalkers, it's dangerous to wake someone up when they are in the middle of the Texans Cycle.
I am just trying to do a good deed and manage their expectations.

Thing is, Wentz has been really good at reading the blitz.

We're definitely going to lose, but it will be nice to see how to does against a better defense.

And you guys need to protect big Ben. 2 weeks in and 2 qbs down against the eagles.
We play the bungles and Ravens 4 times a year.

Ben and the Steelers have plenty of practice of protecting him from dangerous and vicious criminals. The Eagles can't be as bad as that.

I still can't believe Burfict fucking took out our 3 best players on offense last year. Fuck that guy forever. Not even Warren Sapp's dirtiest year compares to that.

That's the thing though. Most rookie QBs get rattled when you bring pressure but Wentz seems to thrive in that situation. He does a great job of recognizing where the blitz is coming from and either setting his protection or getting the ball out quickly to his hot read. I mean, look at these numbers:

I'm not sure blitzing is the best way to confuse the kid. You are probably better off rushing 4 and then just trying to disguise your coverage as best as you can. He seems to struggle most when he has to sit back and go through all his progressions.

I'm expecting the Steelers to do the same thing they've done the last two games - 4 man rush, with varying cover2/3 looks on the back end, rare blitzing. They're gonna make Wentz dink his way down the field and score 7s. Until Cutler bitched out Wentz wasn't doing a very good job of that against the Bears.

Such dirty players.

Asterisks fans always trying to drag other teams down with them. Both hits were perfectly legal.

Yeah that's the thing. As gutshot and pep said, Wentz has been fantastic against the blitz, and also has been fantastic when getting the ball out quick. But when he's forced to hang onto it, he doesn't do well (Browns game):

When Wentz got rid of the ball in 2.5 seconds or less on Sunday, he earned the second-highest passer rating of the week. When he held it 2.6 seconds or longer, he earned the seventh-worst passer rating.

So yeah, don't try to blitz him because so far he's been really good at identifying the hot read. Rush 4, play coverage, and make him hold that ball.

Another interesting thing is going to be the T.O.P. battle. It doesn't matter too much, but the Eagles have been pretty good in that area this year. It'll be interesting to see the Steelers challenge that. I've noticed our D usually starts out slow, but due to winning the T.O.P. battle, they go into the second half fresh and are able to start making plays with the pass rush. Happened against both the Bears and Browns, but they both have bad offenses that couldn't stay on the field. That shouldn't be a problem for the Steelers, and maybe our D will get tired out by the end.

this is great

so in that game, what would he have to do to be considered clutch?

have more passes dropped? throw a TAINT like Ben?

Come back from behind, just as i've said. The Packers never trailed in that game, not once. What's clutch about that?

Ben's throw to Santonio in XLIII was Clutch. Eli scrambling out of a sure sack and finding Tyree was clutch. Belichick's surveillance team relaying the Seahawks play to him in time to pick off Wilson was clutch. comebacks are clutch. I'm not speaking French here.

Remember when HoHoyer lead the Browns of Cleveland to a 6-3 record and first place in the division, destroying both the Bengals and Steelers?

Coleman deserves it dude balled out.

Those drops by Agholor and Matthews combined with penalties bringing back throws lowered his stats. Plus he looked good but some rookies balled out this week. Coleman had a better game than Wentz
Without those drops and penalties, Wentz probably throws for 300+ and 3 scores.

I can't wait for next week, but I don't think Wentz is ready for a shootout.

I'm going to be at the Steelers game, so hyped! I think it's going to be a high scoring game, where victory is predicated no whether or not the Eagles can cause turnovers.

Please don't anyone blame Munn. 1) she's the best, 2) it's pretty obvious SF is just in a new golden age and FMT's boy Jeddy was right

Niners must have found some secret sauce for this guy. He couldn't even convert a 3rd down if his life depended on in it when he played for the Jags. They better keep doing wtvr they are doing.

Okay. A broken clock is right twice a day. Did the Browns really fire the scouts that favored Wentz, and if so who would have that power and why would they do that?
Being a Browns fan I know that when new regimes come in they often fire scouts after the draft. The Browns just let a few Scouts go a alittle earlier to catch on sooner. LaConfora who wrote the article has had a hard on for the Browns since his friend Lombardi got fired

Every team's front office and coach has passed on players that turned out to be great. And Wentz looks good, don't get me wrong, but he could also fall off as defenses figure out his weaknesses and exploit them.

Hoarding picks and trading down is a strategy backed up by statistics, it is too early to condemn the Browns current regime.

Oh that is interesting. There is always spin with this stuff but it also seems like there is a lot of smoke forming. I do wonder if Wentz has a really good year if we will see a CYA situation where everyone tries to point the finger at someone else with the Browns.
