So it's 4k in the same way that OG Xbox One games are 1080p. That is, (for the most part), they're not.

It's still ridiculous for them to say 'play it in 4k'.

Perhaps, more like PG studios have risen as a leader in open world and arcade racing. Hoping MS find the same luck with Crackdown, Sea of Thieves and Gears 4, the later 2 seeming quite likely.

It's not a violation of a consumer protection law. This is your own assumption. I am making an example that you can't just excuse shady practices because ''hurr durr people are idiots and it's their own fault''. No, it doesn't work that way. Consumer protection protects everyone, even the idiots. Reviews should point out that a game has micro transactions, pre-order bonuses and early access and they should in some cases dock points for those practices.

Your story about the cruise is the kind of stuff that I don't want in video games. Maybe you do but I don't. The premium deal in Battlefield 4 is one such example.

Just contact support. They will give you store credit for the normal editions worth and then you can get whatever edition you want. But yeah with the different region store front trick it probably won't work :(

I understand it's not a violation that's why I laughed at you when you brought up the notion. I'm not for sure why you are saying I assumed it was???

It's okay if you don't like it, really it is, but your previous posts were talking anti-consumerism and mentioning laws and this just nonsense. And the notion of docking it in review scores for having early access is nonsense too

I was being slightly facetious with the point about docking the review score. Though I wouldn't call it ridiculous if someone did dock half a point for it.

I've never gotten into Forza or racing games in general, but I loved me some Burnout Paradise for the open-world aspect of it. Seems to me like the Horizon franchise is similar for open world, albeit on country roads as opposed to a city. Horizon 3 has peaked my interest being on PC & all. When racing, do you get giant >>> arrows etc. that obstruct your path, or can you take any path you want to reach the finish line? I'll be watching some gameplay videos tonight but I'm at work and a bit curious at the moment.

On the topic of the early access bonus thing, I think it's a very valid criticism that needs to be brought up, but it shouldn't affect review scores at all.

You can turn off the suggestion line.. the game often rewards you for ignoring it and making your own way anyway.

I think he means having a restrictive "corridor" to race down.

The answer is, it depends on the race type, some are restricted to a "corridor" others are more freeform.
 
91 on Metacritic and 90 on OpenCritic with this number of reviews counted gives it top 5 of 2016 across platforms, one of the top racing games of all time across platforms, and highest rated racing game in 7 years across platforms. Also the highest rated Xbox One non-timed exclusive, and first over 90.

Microtransactions (a lot of them at least) give the devs something to work on after the game goes gold. You see game studios closing left and right. It takes damn near 100 million dollars to make and market a AAA game. In the case of GTAV it was 266 million. If you would like to continue seeing AAA games stuff like this is a necessary evil. Either that or they raise the base price up which has been $60 on consoles since the start of last generation. Someone playing the base game isn't at any sort if disadvantage compared to someone playing the deluxe so this is a non issue. Early Access doesn't hamper anyone's enjoyment of the game, nor is it a game mechanic. Why would a reviewer dock points for that? Microtransactions aren't necessary for the player and you progress fairly quickly without them so I understand why reviewers don't mention them. I've seen plenty of reviews point out microtransactions in the past though. Depends on how they're implemented. Since my favorite games also happen to be AAA games I definitely don't wanna see any more devs underperform and get shut down like Evolution Studios or Lionhead. We all know that any corporations number one priority is bottom line and shareholder profit. Sometimes it aligns with the wants and consumers and sometimes it doesn't. I haven't seen very many games go completely microtransaction and pre order bonus free in a long while. Witcher 3 I guess? Although I think there was a preorder bonus, but it was the same for everybody. Could be remembering that wrong though.

Obviously the relationship between MS and PG is a very successful. But I'd also bet that whatever offers MS may have floated past PG founders will prooooooobably be increased after FH3.

I think they'd slot in wonderfully within MS first party.

No, the release date is the day that brick and mortar retailers start selling it on shelves. The vast majority of console games are purchased that way. If we went by what you were saying games would be launched digitally as soon as they went gold.

You can buy the physical UE through certain retailers (GAME UK).

Does this count.

It strikes me that there is a 'soft' launch and a 'hard' launch and that is really as far is it goes.

Having said that GAME bettter have my pre-order Friday AM, or there's gonna be a shitstorm in Loughborough . . . .

They actually press and send out the preordered ultimate editions seperately from the regular ones. So I guess it kinda counts? Idk man. I just wanna drive.
