Forza Horizon 3: Review Thread

Thirst is real.. hope this game dominates sales!

I think that the XPA will actually make it a game where a good number of sales will be digital. We won't know how many people on PC bought the game (well, actually, we'll never know as the digital title is for both).

Yes, downloaded.

I hope mine is sitting on the door mat when i get home...

Will there be a physical standard edition for PC? If not, can I buy an XB1 copy without owning an XB1 and get the game for PC off of that via a download?

Physical copies of the game don't give you a PC code. I don't think there's a physical PC version of this game. If you buy it digitally the license works across platforms.

Cool, thanks. I have an Xbox account from when I had a 360, I hope I can just use that one. I haven't used it in years and don't remember the password, but in theory it should use the same password as my daily use Hotmail account I guess.

Indeed and if MS can further improve the Store and release good quality ports on PC that digital share is going to rise higher and higher

91 on Metacritic and 90 on OpenCritic with this number of reviews counted gives it top 5 of 2016 across platforms, one of the top racing games of all time across platforms, and highest rated racing game in 7 years across platforms. Also the highest rated Xbox One non-timed exclusive, and first over 90.

All this whilst they were bored.

Its not xbox exclusive tho.

Your hotmail account is a MS account and can be used to buy Xbox games. If your Xbox account is the same as the hotmail account then that IS your xbox account in the first place.

Microsoft exclusive? Xbox platform exclusive? Xbox One Console Exclusive? We can play around with semantics, but the game is exclusive to Microsoft platforms.

Playing with semantics indeed. An exclusive is a reason to pick up a system. This is not one of those, -as I'm getting it for pc. 'Microsoft exclusive' jeez.

It uses Xbox Live, unlocks Xbox achievements, pulls data from your Xbox Friends list, and is only available on Windows 10 machines. Xbox is a software platform now, rather than a hardware platform.

Does the ability to call it "exclusive" or not actually matter, though? Really?

Surely the important thing is having a device that can play the games that you want. Whether you can get those games elsewhere is irrelevant.

Preloaded on both PC and Xbox One. Xbox One will probably ONLY get played in the event that my PC does not handle the port to my target specification (AT LEAST XB1 image quality, 1080p, 60fps) or generally lacks optimization.

If Gears 4 also ends up being a success story for my PC, then I think I might just sell my Xbox...

But still, this has been my most anticipated game since E3. The demo already showed that, in some unexpected ways, it surpassed my expectations. Forza Horizon 2 was a fine game but it sort of took away the sense of thrill and carefree persona a little bit, so I was pretty enthused to see it make a somewhat more subtle return in the demo. By the peek the demo offered, Australia is already looking well on its way to being my favorite Horizon locale hands down.

I don't get what you mean? I lifted about 90% of them from people posting them in this thread, the review thread.

Honestly in many review OP's some OP's never really do a good job of updating. It has actually happened a great deal. So your doing well is just being noticed.

How about "Published by Microsoft". That kind of means that you won't be playing it on Playstation or NX
unless it's Minecraft
.

I think that MS overall is going to be selling more titles because of XPA/UWP/WindowsStore. Hopefully that translates into new good IP.

I would caution doing that so quickly as we can see that even though you get the game on PC, the communities aren't always going to be the same. Gears public competitive multiplayer on PC may die after a while but Xbox may not. This may be the case with future titles that use XPA because of inherit advantages of KB/M to Controller. But I definitely understand why you would do that. I just think that you may want to think about that before doing so. Obviously with single player games and some multiplayer games (Forza) it doesn't matter (which should be the ultimate goal), just wanted you to know and for others reading.

You're not wrong. I do have a small group of friends I play almost every Gears game with. I would be sad to give up access to that. My hope is that Gears 4 on PC will have a controller-only playlist that mixes in with the Xbox One folks, similar (but not quite the same as) to how GTAV will disable the aim assist on gamepad unless you play in a server where all other players are also playing gamepad with aim assist enabled. I mean, I will use my keyboard+mouse wherever its allowed in that scenario, but I don't mind stepping down to the gamepad when I have to.

That type of feature isn't confirmed, so again, you're right. I'll wait and see for sure.

Did you have to make an Xbox Live ID? Did you download the game in their store front? Did you give them your money to buy their product? They don't care whether or not you think it's a Microsoft exclusive, because for all intents and purposes they got you.

SUPER IMPORTANT QUESTION:

My Windows 10 is in german, I need to play this game in english, are there in-game language options in the PC version?? (I'm not switching my OS language for one game!)

So it's 4k in the same way that OG Xbox One games are 1080p. That is, (for the most part), they're not.

It's still ridiculous for them to say 'play it in 4k'.

Wow, nice reviews, but this is the first time I've seen lots of the review sites listed in the OP.....
These guys. Drop by a Xbox thread from time to time leaving a little salt and brand hate along the way and disappear off.

Either way the Xbox division get your money. I'm sure they will be pleased with your patronage.

No no hes playing it on PC, he definitely did not buy it on the windows 10 store, that uses xbox live and xbox achivements and a xbox friends list. Its a pc game. Take that microsoft.

Good question. I don't think that there were language options in the Xbox One Demo. Wouldn't be any different for the full release I think.

Posted it already in the other thread, but might be interesting for some.

Any chance there were Horizon 3 decals or stickers included in your package?

I got some Forza Motorsport stickers with my 1TB Forza Edition Xbox One last year and thought it'd be absolutely fantastic to get some Horizon 3 stickers/decals to slap on my new Xbox One S. I'm a bigger Horizon fan than Motorsport fan nowadays, and I really like the logo's black/pink/white color scheme.

And to clarify, I'm not asking YOU to hook me up -- I just know some people that might hook me up if I ask. Just trying to confirm if they did something like that with Horizon 3. Something I've been curious leading up to this release for a while now. Seems it's a thing Microsoft 1st and 2nd party titles do from time to time.
