Gears of War 4 coming free with Nvidia 1070 & 1080s through Oct 30

Removing Nvidia-related permissions isn't going to protect against a decision to have the keys revoked. The heavy lifting would rest on Microsoft, and even if Nvidia can revoke keys itself, any accounts it couldn't access would just be handballed to Microsoft.

I bought it before I knew on how people are getting it. Yeah, I feel scummy right now.

Me too. I mean, I find it difficult to take the moral high ground against Amazon of all companies, but man do I feel sorry for the guy responsible for implementing this offer.

They fucked up. The code should have been sent after the order was shipped.

Is it fixed? I bought a code yesterday (before knowing how people were getting them) and this morning when I received the code from the seller I entered it and got:

"This coupon code has been temporarily disabled. Please contact NVIDIA support."

I assume this means the code I got was obtained with this glitch and not from actually buying the card.

Sure but it certainly doesn't hurt to remove permissions for an app that isn't used, does it? ;)

Huh? You mean new codes being sold?

Newly sent out codes, also confirmed with codes sent out a couple hours ago

Yea so ask for a refund or file a claim.

Ah ok, so the ones already redeemed are safe.
Unless they start revoking them.

If they do that I'll just contact Ebay to get my refund. That is, if my key was not legit. I have no idea if it was or not but I bought it long before all the amazon ones seemed to pop up.

Yea, you get like 3 months to file a dispute, right? That's plenty of time. I assume that if they don't get revoked by the time the game releases, they won't get revoked at all.

Three months to dispute, longer than that to do a chargeback I'm fairly certain.

Probably but I imagine they are blocking all codes for now.

Apparently if you contact Nvidia support they are requesting proof of purchase for the codes.

Shame that the people who bought their cards and rightfully want to sell the codes no longer can.

So many people did paypal gifts for these and will not get refunds. Hell i dont even think paypal does claims on digital items anyway.

Paypal does claims on digital items not received. Not when you have paid as gift, though.

If you have legit code, you should also have access to proof of purchase, so it's good solution.

I wonder how they are going to handle those who are still getting the codes legitimately?

Make them upload screenshot of proof of purchase? This would make the whole redemption process more cumbersome.

I'm not sure how they could go about revoking them, tbh. Would they just revoke all of them and ask for proof from everybody?

Well, IF they revoke the licenses... If you've ever had a refund on Xbox Live, as long as the game is installed, you can access it. Once you delete the game, it's gone forever. So to be safe, don't delete anything and keep it installed.

Well that may not likely work here since we don't even have an option to install the game yet. :)

If they do anything it'll likely be a while yet. There's a lot of logistics involved, most likely.

shit.... if that happens as I already paid about $28 dollars over on ebay last night

would they actually revoke everyone who redeemed a code online? I understand the fallout 4 situation since it was a price error on Xbox live but this might seem a little extreme.

No it's very unlikely for the ones already redeemed. Amazon has made many price mistakes for digital games, I got Batman AK Premium edition for $15 USD, they didn't revoke it. They'll just take the loss on probably a few thousand keys at the most.

So I asked the guy on Reddit I got one from yesterday (before there was discussion of the glitch, I thought they were legitimate.... I've bought bundle keys before) and was surprised he actually did admit they were from Amazon. Well, at least he's sort of honest?

I wouldn't be too upset if they were revoked, but I doubt they will be.

I guess it didn't really make sense how all the keys would appear right as the program begins.

I think as long as you have redeemed the code from the Nvidia website and its in your Library on the Windows 10 store you'll be fine!

Hmm...looking at the Gears of War page on Xbox.com shows "pre-order" where it once said "owned". Unless I'm looking at the wrong thing.

You probably are looking at the wrong thing. Mine still says "You own this" on the site, on my PC, and it's still there on the Xbox. Don't worry they won't remove it

Click it to take you to the Microsoft Store. Mine says "You own this" on there.
