My Nintendo Thread: Mii Nintendo, U Nintendo, Wii Nintendo

30 gold coins for downloading The First Skunk Bundle on Wii U on sale for free in NA.

Thanks! I grabbed Super Mario Kart after getting these 30 free coins. I was going to wait and see what Nintendo puts up when the current games expire, but now I should have enough left for at least 1 game even after getting SMK.

I got an email saying that a temporary password has been issued for my Nintendo Network account. That the password will be good for 24 hours.

I didn't not reset anything or forget my password, and this is the first time I have recieved anything from Nintendo regarding a password changing abruptly.

Should I worry about why this happened?

I have no Credit Card info stored with the account, so I'm wondering what happened...

The fact that so many Gold rewards are just coupons is insulting. So I spend money and my reward is a meager discount to encourage me to spend more money?

I miss Club Nintendo. Got a lot of nice free games through that.

It would be kind of cool if there were tiers of coupons you could exchange gold coins for, just like how you earn different amount of coins depending on the price of the game. So like x number of gold coins gives you a 30% off coupon for ANY game under a certain price threshold. And so on.

the way it is now is pretty worthless for most people I think.

You don't like the coupons which give you discounts for games that are still cheaper at retail? How come?

Do you have by any chance a common name that one could misspell to?

No, but I get where you're going with this.

I suppose someone might have accidentally typed my NNID name when attempting to reset their own pw, but I'd like to know if anyone else has had this happen to them too do that I can see what other people's scenarios were to take the best course of action.

With my newly acquired gold coins I think I'm gonna hold off on any purchases for now. I'm curious to see what physical rewards will look like, if it ever happens.

We don't get anything for downloading Lost Reavers, do we?

Wario Land 3 is actually really good

Probably not as good as 2 in terms of production (there are some things that simply feel off), but the gameplay is tuned harder and is generally more varied, engaging, and interesting.

Wonder if they have any plans to put up new items or if Pilotwings will also just be the gold coins rewards for the time being.

I didn't think it was possible for them to make a service worse than the last few years of Club Nintendo but they really pulled out all the stops

hopefully this is just the twilight period before NX... hopefully.

Spending coins for discounts is so silly to me. just charge me more for the whole thing! ugh

Why is there not more variety? You would think they could give more options.

I miss the days of Club Nintendo having new games every month...

It would be nice if they rolled the VC available games monthly like with CN and put a second Platinum coin game up.

But honestly, two free games already is a lot better than what CN offered.

Dear Take Two, port Doc Louis' Punch Out to the Wii U and I'll "rebuy" in a second.

No, the lowest tier (10 Gold Coins) is this:

This still seems so ill-conceived. No coins whatsoever for any NES game that's not Earthbound Beginnings. This means buying THE most iconic Nintendo game in the world, Super Mario Bros, gives absolutely no loyalty points whatsoever. And this because of a single cent difference. NX has to rectify this.

So you want NES games to be more expensive on NX? :) Because none of this has anything to do with NX, they just need to add another low-coin tier.

They should give points based on the contents of the cart and not the individual games. Two $4.99 games bought at the same time should give something.

That's the problem: there is no cart. That is one thing they could and need to address on new platforms.

Yes that's exactly what I said, let's add that I also begged for it to be region locked while we're at it :P

Nah, while you're right that they'd just have to add another low-coin tier, I think NX is a much safer bet to start over with , rather than at this point on the 3DS and Wii U lives. Not to mention, if they did implement it, they'd have to deal with a fuckton of users demanding retroactive compensation for the stuff below $5 they have paid for since the service began.

No, the problem is how the tiers are worked out: In $ , £ and probably Euros and several other currencies,. it's typical to end a price in .x9 because it apparently improves sales. In Japan, the lowest price tier is 500-1000 yen, which for them, avoids the lower tier price problem, because, I think, they charge 500 yen for a NES game, rather than 499 yen.

Basically, we getting screwed on gold coins (not that there's anything I find worthwhile to spend them on...)

I wouldn't get much out of old Club Nintendo anyway this year because I barely bought any Nintendo games.
But come by NX launch I want MyNintendo to live up to Club Nintendo standards with codes in retail games and with physical rewards.

Seriously, all they'd need to do is lower the first tier to $4.99 (although we in Canada would still get screwed, our lowest tier is $7)

Four 20% discounts (making them 20€) on El Capitan, Pikmin, Mario Wörld, Mario Party for 30 gold each.

Oh yeah, mind the discounts on Earthbound Zero and Hana Samurai expiring on the first.
