Giant Bomb PSVR stream | It's always Summer in PlayStation VR Nation

how the hell is HTC the VR king

If Sony had some magic launch patch, that's going to alleviate some of these tracking issues then usually they pre-brief the media. They've sent this out there to die.

These are the kinds of overreactions common to people who treat Giant Bomb as representative of the gaming market.

So he puts closer to TV to calibrate Move and for some reason he decides to sit far again after that.
Talk about tracking issues.

so some people are reporting the jitter everywhere they play
some people report it only in their studio
some people report it only at home.

regardless of whats causing it, all this is doing is making me feel like id get burned if im an early adopter.

Jeff tapping out is probably the most damning thing you could have on this stream.

Doesn't look like they have it setup correctly so can't imagine that would be helping.

I could be wrong and PSVR is all kinds of fucked but seems like other outlets aren't having issues to such an extreme.

Now it makes sense as to why Capcom has said that Resident Evil 7 will take longer to beat in PSVR (it's because you'll be throwing up the whole way through).

But in all seriousness, if this this sickness is a widespread thing, then Jeff would be right in thinking that being able to play RE7 in VR is actually not the thing that devs should be going for right now.

I can't watch the stream right now, but the helmet or camera could be faulty, Sony should send somebody there asap.

But there are other reports of this too from early reviewers. In particular that "moving in/out" effect he was talking about is something you would see when the camera isn't getting accurate updates of the LEDs, so it's trying to correct based on IMU data. But it's doing it constantly. That almost has to be in software.

Even if we accept it's a setup issue, this is the "casual" headset on the market. It should just work.
And for the majority of the outlets and reviewers, it seems to be working fine. Drop by the review thread.

This won't be a flawless launch, which is a given considering how many cables/wiring is involved.

Eurgh.I'm going to wait and see how the dust settles tomorrow/Friday but this is looking like a cancel for me and I'll buy a PS4 pro instead. Well, at least I've got those move controllers.

Yeah this pushed me to Cancel. There's really nothing at launch that's a must-have, and how broken and irritating the tracking seems is like a total deal-breaker.

Been watching and for some reason I'm feeling motion sickness too wtf anyone feeling off? First time I've felt motion sickness in years...

So is a big part of the jank/sickness issues because Sony is allowing 60 fps games? The competition set the suggested standard at 90-120 fps for that reason.

No, while the reprojection itself isn't as good as native 90-120fps. It won't make you sick.

It appears to be a camera tracking issue making the entire environment move even while you're not moving.

Like others said, it might be them just having the camera too far, but other people have been having the same problem as well.

When I tried PSVR, I was maybe 3 feet away from the camera so maybe they realized that this would be a problem.

'Why don't you have a little fun puking?!'

I mean from the beginning he was rolling his eyes at everything like the cabling and such.

I would never purchase this game though, so I sorta get it. I have a Rift and these types of "experiences" are the worst to me. Real games like Chronos or Elite: Dangerous are so much better.

I'm super prone to it andf have gotten an odd feeling watching their longer VRodeo streams, but that's just me. Might be worse because of the tracking issues with the PSVR.

Austin also confirmed in chat and on twitter he's been having the exact same experience.

Brad stop selling me on PSVR again with this now well performing and tracked headset and move controllers

edit: it got broken again

People keep saying they might have the camera too far. But if it's within the range recommended by Sony, why should that be an issue?

The problem with Batman, Dan, is that he's a fucking psycho and would do infinitely more good as billionaire Bruce Wayne than he does as Batman.

Looks rough for sure, but I want to try it for myself. Jeff getting sick that fast is not a good sign though :P
