Giant Bomb PSVR stream | It's always Summer in PlayStation VR Nation

I'm not denying that, but there's some gaffers here who just seem to want to ignore Gamespot's stream right now in that they've had no tracking issues to the severity of GB's.

Makes sense, people on both ends of the extreme here (like usual lol). Definitely raises some questions. Hopefully it isn't going to be a widespread problem

You can't make this stuff up.

Not sure what you're trying to say.

This tech has been out for 6+ months

I know that the GB guys stated they had tracking issues at home as well, but I can't help but notice that the mood lighting around their office is literally the same colors that the Move controllers pick up. :P

Just a dumb observation. lol

Most of the gameplay was in front of a green screen and the first thing they tried was turning the lights totally off

I wasn't saying that was the reasoning, just thought it was funny. It sucks they were having issues. Hearing reports of it working and not working makes it hard to gauge if it's worthing trying out for myself.

They had a bad experience with the headset so I'm not sure why they're supposed to be jumping for joy.

Have you watched it? It's like someone forced them to wake up and go to church. I NEVER said they should be jumping for joy, just that they seem totally uninterested to even be there.

You know its often said about them for a reason right?

Because they don't act like Youtubers or fanboys.

That's what I like about Giant Bomb, they tell it like it is, they come off as having standards.

I know some people absolutely need that positive reinforcement to justify their love for a company or video game series, but they shouldn't be watching Giant Bomb in the first place if they want that kind of shilling.

They already used a far superior headset, and this one was having tracking issues. Why would they start to be excited?

I switched to Gamespots coverage. Giant bomb's stream makes them seem like dull dudes that don't get excited by anything.
If you just want to see people get excited about things I'm sure youtube has you covered there. Also, don't forget to follow, like and subscribe for more excitedness and totally real reactions.

Honestly if it was environmental interference causing GB's tracking issues then that's even worse. The whole point of console VR is to be easier to set up and use than something like Vive lighthouses or double freestanding cameras for Oculus touch, especially since people most likely won't move their entire entertainment center to a different part of the house just to reduce light interference.

And if this problem persists at launch I don't think you can blame users for not using the hardware correctly, since the system didn't ever acknowledge that something might be working sub-optimally.

You don't seem to be able to grasp what I'm saying. I'm not watching it for shilling or because I need them to be excited about it. I'm saying they look so uninterested to even be there that I was bored and switched to another stream that was more interesting. They were answering questions that people were wondering about, trying different aspects of the game and explaining. Giant Bomb seemed like "yeah... this is a game and you can move. *yawn* what's the next one?"

One guy is sitting there yawning, one guy zoned out and was asking about what they just played.

I don't see them as "telling it like it is", it seems more like they're just desensitized to video games and want to go back to doing something that isn't wasting their time. Maybe I need to watch more to see if it changes, but at this point I have no interest in doing so.

lol ok guys, i get it. So many of you love them so much that you can't stand someone reacting to them as boring. Enjoy your dull coverage and continue bashing people that have different views.

You need to watch them play Rec Room. They are interested when they play actual good games.

Most of the guys have been doing this for a looooong time, it takes more than just "Ooooo Batman" to make them interested in something.

Guys, remember that no tracking system is flawless.

In my home space for the Vive, I get tracking issues as well when the opposing cameras are set up at just above eye level. The ideal for the Vive is setting up the cameras on the ceiling pointing down, but my basement's ceiling (6 ft) is too low for that.

You use the Vive with a 6' ceiling?! How are you not constantly hitting it? I manage to smack mine more than I'd like (curse you games requiring throwing things upwards!) and I have far more headroom. Even if I could stand up straight in a 6' room, I can't imagine playing in one.

I like that your conclusion is that they must be boring, not that they're bored by the thing they're trying.

Yeah I used to be a Giantbomb fan, always like their Extra Life stuff, but this is weak. Also crazy to see reviews/streams from Kinda Funny, Gamespot, Jim Sterling, etc and none of them are having as many problems as GB. Either it's faulty equipment or the setup is causing problems.

Ditto to the fact that the Gamespot guys seem much more interested in what their covering.

You realise you're posting in the Giant Bomb PSVR stream thread? Like, of course people don't like you shitting on them.

But maybe also cosider this:
- they've played VR stuff for hundreds of hours on all devices
- they have played the majority of what's available for VR hardware
- they started this stream at 5 a.m.
- they've been streaming for hours.

How is it going so far? I remember when Occulus and Vive launched Jeff kept complaining about the prices and how the games could have been done on the Wii or Wii u

Uh.. Well, you just pointed out one of the big problems with the Vive. I can't put it in my living room so I'm forced to put it in my basement.

Just as with any VR solution, there is an ideal.

I completely believe that Vive is the best tracking solution, but it's also the one with the strictest room requirements.

Anyway, I'm 5'9 so that helps, but I've hit the ceiling a few times.

You seem to believe that "coverage" exists solely to hype and excite you. In this case, you can find a lot of people on YouTube that are willing to satisfy that for you. Or just stick to watching official streams from the companies selling you their products.

I mean there's nothing wrong with people having different views. There are just people who are currently having different views to yours

Ah, the fanboy argument.

Fanboys of what exactly?

Fun?

Or just those without GB hero worship?

Because they don't act like Youtubers or fanboys.

That's what I like about Giant Bomb, they tell it like it is, they come off as having standards.

Oh good grief. You can say the same about others going to them to feed their pessimism. That's dumb on both counts.

The GB crew has a bit of an air of meh about them. It connects with some and puts off others. They don't need their flock coming to their defense every time it gets brought up.

One guy is sitting there yawning, one guy zoned out and was asking about what they just played.

They literally started streaming at 5am. Considering previous disappointments with VR software what are they going to get excited about there? They're clearly hyped for REZ and that's about it.

I like my personalities from any media to have genuine enthusiasm. I'm not accusing other outlets of anything by that. But I know when Giant Bomb gets excited for something it's 100% genuine.

There are many things you could say to describe their output over the years since 2008, but boring is not a word I would use.

They absolutely have the funniest, most entertaining VR coverage out there. Without question.

They *want* VR to be good! Every platform! They don't want stuff they're looking forward to for so long, turn out to be underwhelming. That's no fun for anyone.

They can also take fair criticism without needing someone like me to defend them. I don't think a lot of the flak they've taken over this (primarily from people who haven't used the product for any extended period of time) is fair criticism. Some of it certainly could be, but I know they're just calling it like they see it and they definitely aren't wanting the thing to fail or going out of their way to sabotage setups. They're buds with like half the staff from PlayStation's San Francisco office for crying out loud! Jeff just went to John Drake's wedding!

Anyway, we're all big boys and girls on this forum. I don't want to tell anyone how to think about anything. The only page out of Giant Bomb's book I would want anyone to take is to just enjoy the things you enjoy. That's what they've been doing their whole existence. That's all I want to do! That's all anyone should want to do. Life's too short for the petty stuff :)

So if they're not excited by something, do you feel like they should fake the excitement?

If they don't like something, they don't like it. Blame the game, not the actual person playing it.

Watch them play the Vive to see them excited.

If you mean that they're mellow, then yeah they are, but like you said, some like mellow, some don't.

Jeff just gushed over gears 4 for 5 minutes on yesterday's bombcast. How can you say he's not enthusiastic or pessimistic about games. As somebody already mentioned, if just having a VR Batman game in your hands is all you need to get hyped regardless of quality, then good for you.

To be true if the PSVR were working for me like the giantbomb one I would have been borred and wanting the 6 hours stream to end.

Even the guy that liked Tumble was pissed at how the PSVR tracking was working at some points while was legit in the game when got some gold medals.

He gushed about Rec Room as well.
