Sony Playstation: First Party Studios & their Current Projects

So.. Kill Strain is out in total stealth mode. I was curious when they announced it but I didn't follow the development. It appears now that the game is a F2P with few contents, poorly reviewed, zero marketing whatsoever and, I'm guessing here, a plan for a good number of paid DLC. I was happy to see a first party dev with a chance at another IP but it seems I've run out of luck.
Well, that's awesome. Gimme five Shu.

Crossposting with other thread but New Minna no Golf is still aiming for 2016 in Japan, mind you.

Just a little cool fact about Japan Studio's structure. I believe it's been a long time they don't refer to themselves as teams (such as Team ICO, Team Siren and so on) but Nicolas Doucet calls the people who works on Playroom VR the Japan Studio Asobi! Team.

Here's the post about the game on the PlayStation Blog

I wonder what Firesprite is doing now. They helped develop The Playroom, so maybe they're working on VR version too.

So Sony will be throwing a TLG bundle against a FFXV bundle

Not so smart I guess...

This is the same Sony that has a Holiday PlayStation commercial on TV right now about fall being the best place to play on PS4 and instead of putting gravity rush 2 or the last guardian (or heck final fantasy XV) in it, they put horizon: zero dawn in it (a game that comes out next February when it is not even fall).

They are business and which one do you think will pull in the gamers the most?

The Sony that's running the Holiday commercial is the US division of Sony.

Unless SIE(A) announces TLG bundle also coming to the US, then not really. Europe, Japan and American divisions of Playstation all have relatively different attachments to some game's push over others.

They must have meant Fall in the Southern Hemisphere ;p.

So it's a VR game?

actually it means nothing at the moment, it's just a tease on twitter.

But maybe there's a small chance for a new wipeout game.

@yosp at EGX last year:

Speaking at a Q&A session during EGX in London Yoshida was asked whether the series, which was developed by now defunct Studio Liverpool, could return and replied "never say never."

"There are many IPs that we kind of stopped iterating with new games," he continued. "One of the reasons is we always love to work on new IP.

“From my standpoint I try to balance the number of games in a franchise. In the future there might be a chance to come back to a game like Wipeout."

btw, Stuart Lovegrove also works in Firesprite (former Programming Project Lead at Studio Liverpool) and Chris Roberts too (Senior Programmer at Psygnosis). And Christian McKinney – former Creative Director at Evolution Studios.
