Battlefield 1 Early access,Road to Battlefield 1 streams (BF1 prior release thread)

Why not? They fought there?

Maybe a regiment that got lost on the way to France? Maybe a Battle where the Austrians took a time out?

Hint: The Germans never were at Mt. Grappa, nor the Alpine Front. In a game that puts so much effort and time in it's presentation, to cheap out on an important detail like that is just downright stupid.

HOLY HELL

Operations is the best gamemode DICE have made since the implementation of RUSH in the BC series.

The historical background, AAA polish and music centered around using the whole map makes for a incredible experience.

In the first battle they were. The Alpenkorps. Was a failed attack.

As an auxiliary force. The bulk of the troops were K&K regiments.

It just comes off as cheap to me, not to include the Austrians for this map. At the very least have them speak like Austrians or Bavarians, not some blokes from Hamburg.

At least the map actually looks very much spot on. It's like taking a trip back home.

Nobody knows how to get rid of the ea access notifications during games?

Factory reset with keeping games and apps. Worked for me.
Also i read that a other method maybe works. Start up the game then click the guide button and go to my games and apps. And then click a couple of times B to go back to the game.

Looks damn good and so jealous watching these streams since my PC is piss. Sony please one day take your slice of EA Access sales!?!?!?

Not a fan of the $20 Enlisted version but that's what I bought since I work 12's fri-sunday so they got me by the balls if I want to play. At least we will get the next free expansion 7 days early for our cash as well. I see this becoming a trend very soon as it's free money and 2K and now EA have proven it profitable. :/

I think that to make a whole new army included only for a battle was a little too much too ask. Or to make a whole new voices actors based on specific regions..

More troubling is the absence of the french army but i hope it'll come with the DLC, come on they are a major actor of the war.

Don't get me started on the exclusion of the French. That's just fucked up and straight up disrespectful.

Yeah, it was probably just done to save costs. I guess their claim to diversity doesn't extend to depicting the "Enemies" as anything but faceless goons. Fucking shame that is.

If only it worked more often, please fix for launch Dice.

It's go well with the running gag of "French are useless in war" when they actually paid the highest price.

I am really curious about what they would include in those DLC, i expect Russian first.

As a fan of history, i am already pretty grateful we got WWI covered, and the job they done with presentation is really amazing. Even the skins of the weapons, i was afraid we would have straight out pink or purple rifles.

Lol marketing trickeration..... EA pulling those GameStop "exclusive" tricks now.

I am actually ok for 3 days earlier if you buy the deluxe edition or the ultimate, i think it's great for the biggests fan who cannot wait like me, the issue is that they really added 20 bucks on the ultimate edition. If you buy season pass+game you have the same thing but 20 bucks less...

The deluxe edition, you have some pretty cool skins actually, Red Baron and Lawrence from Arabia thing.

So you telling me soldiers weren't running with pink M1911's and MG's in WW1 around???

Oh right, that was ww2

I love when you're pushing a new point and you hear the whistles and men roaring. It's a very chaotic experience at times but one thing this game does well is the feeling of battle. It looks and sounds so damn cool

That's crazy. Very poor choice of who to start with. Wasn't the Belgians and French the first to fight the Germans?

If they would have gone by greatest losses I believe the Russians sadly won that honor. Trusting my high school history class a bit too much here.

Too bad that most WW1-Battles weren't fought in jungles..
It's 'authentic' enough as it is. Let us have some fun. It still bugs me they call the objectives Apples and Cheese and whatever- even if it is authentic, it is silly. I think you can draw the line that this will ultimately be an entertainment product.
I love BF4's desert maps because they had more than 2 tanks in the level.
I miss the tank mode in 3. Why they hell would they take out modes and features with 4?! Open areas are also good for sniping- though they don't have to always be deserts. But 1 looks like it will have a wide variety and I am happy with that. Can't wait to see what the DLC's are about. I have no idea, and that excites me. After all, it's DICE at the helm. :)
I am hoping one of the DLC will be focused on East African Campaign.
I am intrigued.
Uh, isn't the release on the 21st??
I just checked; mine says in 1 day and 15 hours.

I'm getting my pigeons ready!

I really recommend people to watch this on YT about WW1. For every year starting in 1914 there is a vid. Its really well explained (great voice also) in about 12 min and has great graphics also so its easy to understand. I know alot of people didnt learn much about WW1 in school compared to WW2. And this really helps. Do yourself a favor. :)

Hey that forest map looks medium sized. Hopefully it's not a mess like a Metro map. I see 5 flags, and saw the minimap look pretty narrow. Hoping it isn't a Metro map with 5 flags...

From my studies I've come to the conclusion that one cannot comprehend WW2 (at least the European theater) unless you know the basics of WW1 and the cultural shock that it inflicted on individuals and nations. It really can't be stated enouogh just how big of a break this war has been on a global scale. Even many countries not directly hit with war, had to deal with the fallout, the demise of colonial powers, the rise of mechanized warfare.

Yeah its sometimes crazy to understand that one guy with a gun it all started. Sure there was already tension and probably would have happened anyway. But still. Still also baffled sometimes about the weird things that happened really. Like the Christmas Truce in the beginning of the war. Where there was a unoffical cease fire and both sides you played football with eachother. Also when the Red Baron got shot down and got killed. The English buried him with military honor.

According to my friend literally all of his issues with the beta were fixed. Decided to pre-order through amazon since I get a prime discount. Hopefully it's as good as he says.

That shows great humanity: the truce shows that people don't want to fight, and honoring a fallen enemy shows great feats of humanity that you respect the skills of your enemy.

I just finished the first video. It is heartbreaking seeing killcount and chaos. The world truly is a better world today. I believe that war (real war) has ended. We have skirmishes in three continents, but they are more of terrorist groups that are limited in scope and one that the world isn't approving of (as a whole). These are good signs. It isn't crazy that we may reach zero war at a global scale in our lifetimes- which is unthinkable only a couple or so generations ago.

Please, teach us about history in a video game thread. We want to know.

If anyone has long commutes or wants something to listen to while gaming, I would also recommend Dan Carlin's "Blueprint to Armageddon" podcast series on the war. Eye-opening stuff.

Oh yeah agree.
Its indeed crazy to see those numbers. There are now numbers on a screen. But when you think of it. One attack. 300.000 death at both sides for example. And that just one attack.
To crazy to comprehend sometimes.
