The NX Prediction / BSpeculation / Fanxiety Thread

Doesn't change the fact that Emily is attacked while Nate is not despite saying the same things or that critical people tend to completely ignore any of her credible reporting in an attempt to demonize her. Emily deserves criticism, especially for her attempts at drumming up hype, but her track record is similar to major outlets that report on false rumors all the time.

I never heard of Nate while Rogers' shit ,,rumours" are all over the gaming related web since months.

I have no problems waiting, but it doesn't mean I don't share in the frustration. However, the thing that will REALLY get me (hypothetically) is if the NX doesn't perform well due to poor marketing and communication, and Nintendo comes out and says something like "It may have been better to reveal and the discuss the NX at an earlier date."

Then? Spontaneous combustion.

My God. What the hell is going on at Nintendo.

About Emily Rogers:

There's a reason threads about things Emily says are being closed on GAF and it isn't just because they are about the NX. Emily has said a lot of things in the past year that haven't come true. A lot of the things she says are either binary choices or have a higher likelihood to happen with the passage of time. She's the only "insider knowledge" person I know of for Nintendo rumors because of how many threads are made for stuff she says.

Also to the person asking what she has in this since she doesn't have ads or any money in this. It's notoriety. If her assumptions come true you'll talk about her even more. You are talking about her even now. I'm talking about her, though not in the way she likely intended.

Damn, the thread was at around 70 pages when I left last night. I skimmed through the 20 pages or so and I'm weak at Emily. Also, the countdown to 9AM and 10AM. Lol.

Nintendo is tone-deaf. And it's astounding.

I can't even picture a PR/Communication manager going through ideas and thinking "Tweet about a Splatoon interview. That should really create some awareness".

It's actually interesting you say that because for the past couple days or so I've been wowed by the amount of hype and interest there is in the NX before any amount of marketing has even begun.

As of right now this silence routine seems to be working wonders. Of course that can change if the reveal doesn't impress people but as of now it's looking smart.

Here's a quick guide for what to do when a rumor winds up being incorrect:

1. Say "Aww that's disappointing."
2. Be more skeptical of all rumors going forward.
3. Don't trust the source of that rumor again until they have proven themselves with being correct on other rumors.

What you should NOT do:

1. Throw a temper tantrum
2. Harass the person who reported on the rumor
3. Harass the people who believed in that rumor
4. Harass the employees of the company that the rumor was about

Harass includes insulting as well as saying "told you so"

Who said anything about an announcement?
They've done press releases on Fridays iirc.

They probably have at some point, but if they have, it's very, very rare.

They're not holding a strategy briefing, though they likely are still holding a general results conference with a Q&A.

It doesn't necessarily mean anything, though it could mean that there will be an even late next week and they don't want to hold a briefing about strategy right before NX is revealed. That's the optimistic view I suppose.

WSJ reported that there will still be a press conference (not one of the big, splashy ones, though) alongside the results, the day before (well, same day here) the normal investor briefing and Q&A.

But like I said a few pages back, the absence of a strategy meeting doesn't mean much either way about the reveal timing. If the reveal is before the 26th, it'd be largely redundant; if the reveal is later, they wouldn't have much of anything to announce there besides Miitopia.

I never heard of Nate while Rogers' shit ,,rumours" are all over the gaming related web since months.

Great sample size.

Nintendo is tone-deaf. And it's astounding.

I can't even picture a PR/Communication manager going through ideas and thinking "Tweet about a Splatoon interview. That should really create some awareness".

Be patient. They're trying to get their marketing ducks in a row for the thing, not satisfy forum dwellers who want it all right now or else.

How are you gauging this enthusiasm?

I mean, it's obviously the higher ups keeping the NX info from the rest of the company and the public. for some unknown reason. the PR manager probably doesn't know anything more than us. so they post filler in the meantime.

until they spill the goods they're going to have to deal with the twitter army. cause at this point no one gives a fuck about a Splatoon interview.

It's almost as if they refuse to do reactionary decisions based on some comments fueled by flimsy rumours. The nerve.

To reiterate to those people who hate Emily, Nate quoted Neal with him saying news coming this week

People are buzzing so I'll lay down what I've heard: NX news within the week.

Please.

Nate even responded to King Brody

So, if you don't have faith in Emily atleast Nate has proven himself trustworthy.

Be patient. They're trying to get their marketing ducks in a row for the thing, not satisfy forum dwellers who want it all right now or else.

The communication ducks don't exist in a bubble. And the past history doesn't paint the communication ducks other than ugly since Kimishima took over.

You should have add first "read the definition of rumor" because it could help many here being less excited, disappointed or angry for nothing but yeah what you listed is sadly so true :/

Absolutely! I just hope they don't push it too far. A January reveal would be a perfect example of that IMO.

They likely have already set a date a long time ago. Don't be ridiculous.
Meanwhile they will just tweet like any other company. Promoting their shit.

It's not their fault you guys are fucking foaming at the mouth every hour of every single day for a snippet of NX news. Nintendo doesn't give a fuck.

NX being delayed into next FY is more likely than NX not being delayed and still not getting a reveal date.

I will stand by this, and change my avatar to something really stupid if I am wrong.

Nintendo hardly ever announces anything on Friday; the last exception I recall is the Zelda delay in March 2015.

All due respect to 10k and that NoC email guy, but don't get your hopes up.
I am this threads last hope.
After that WSJ quote, it's looking dire for this week lol.

Wait, what do you mean? I didn't enter the RDR thread as I was busy reading this thread. Did something happen? Please PM me if necessary.

Nothing happened, sorry to be unclear. Just was going to rant about my dislike of R* games and decided it was too off-topic.

It's not about reactionary decisions. It's about the communication policy in the past year and more.

Agreed. It's been terrible. The confused messaging of whether anything beyond Zelda would be at E3 didn't help.

I mean, it is almost November and it launches in March. I get "be patient" but surely we could have known when this is going to be unveiled by now. Mind you, I'm nowhere near as enthused about Nintendo as some others here are and even I feel that Nintendo could do more at this point.

Well if nothing is happening come Friday I hope Nate will come here and explain why one of his tweets strongly suggested that something was happening this week. It's ok to be wrong, or maybe he was just being cryptic, but either way I hope he'll acknowledge it.

I definitely support this post but the problems are 1) people don't read the tumors carefully and 2) when people get frustrated or upset, their common sense basically got thrown out of the window.

Does anybody remember Surfer Girl who use to post rumors online in the early 2000's lol

Man, those old days.

That's my issue actually. With promoting their shit. Which have been terrible since Kimishima took over. What is this Splatoon interview promoting for example? Wii U is more than dead (see Mario Paper sales), Splatoon doesn't get any more updates. Wii U doesn't get any more games.

It's a nice glass of champagne in desert.

Why would they communicate anything before an official reveal?

You're right. They should not communicate anything relevant. They're doing a great job.

I see. Thanks for the clarification.

This is why people get grumpy at Emily. It isn't sexism (lmao), it's this cycle:

1. Make a claim

2. Back it up with vague, mysterious comments

3. Insinuate you know more than you've revealed

4. Begin to give yourself an out

5. Get defensive and mad

6. Take your ball and go home

And repeat

It's not about reactionary decisions. It's about the communication policy in the past year and more.

They will announce it when they have planned to announce it.

It's so weird to see people make sweeping statements about Nintendo's 'communication policy' when they are the ones on their knees begging for a snippet of news. You don't know what's going on behind the scenes, you don't know what they are planning, so what makes you qualified to call out their communication policy? Because they didn't immediately appease some fanboy's desires? Come on, yo.

I still don't understand why anyone believes Emily Rogers anymore...

This is the same person who tried to say that Devil's Third was DEFINITELY being published by Xseed, only to have Nintendo and Itagaki come out and confirm otherwise a couple of hours later, and then tried to make it out to be some kind of elaborate conspiracy.

She also claimed to have insider knowledge of Smash (and then refused to give any information out... why?) and said that Star Fox was DEFINITELY not in development.

She was just wrong about a female Link in BotW.

What short memories you guys have...we have been here with her before...

http://wiiugo.com/emily-rogers-last-wii-2-rumours-well-sort-of/

For the last month or so the Wii 2 blog has been reporting on Emily Rogers’ rumours that she has received from her sources. Some of them have been believable and some of them haven’t. She has now made a list of Wii 2 rumours which she guarantees to be true or, apparently, she will never write again.

Secondly, SoulCalibur V will be a launch title for the Wii 2. You might remember that I wrote an article expressing my wish for a SoulCalibur game to come back to Nintendo and whether the chances were good. However, Emily Rogers’ stated that this SoulCalibur would be different from the ones set out for Xbox 360 and PS3 because it will have exclusive content. What type of exclusive content wasn’t said. Link playable again perhaps?

We also have a re-confirmation on one of the earliest rumours, that Rockstar are working on something for the Wii 2. Though she does mention that it might not be displayed at E3.

I'm not talking only about NX here.

That's some sound possibility... and CTR number implies it can also work with 3DS like the original reader/writer.

In fact, Nintendo 3DS NFC Reader/Writer seems to have a CTR-012 label while this is a CTR-013.

Well it's definitely for 3DS from the model code and definitely supports bluetooth and NFC from the test report. So then it is very likely that it's an upgraded model with phone support. My guess would be for Animal Crossing mobile.

I wondered about one thing : Right now I'm playing Etrian Odyssey Untold on 3DS, a serie born on DS and which heavily use the second screen. The serie is still successful and a fifth entry is supposed to release in the upcoming weeks in Japan (or it has already been released ? I don't remember).

How will this serie evolves, now that the dual screen is dead ?

Honestly it seems like they've had an announcement planned before but it keeps getting pushed back.

There are Nintendo DS games on Wii U. I suspect that the NX will be a home console with an optional handheld component for BC.
