Mind explaining it a bit more than that? I kinda missed what exactly went down and assumed the tag was related to those sources and rumours.

It's really interesting how all of you have sources, yet you're arriving at completely different conclusions. Who knows, maybe all of you will end up being right? I find this pretty exciting anyway.

It is interesting. To me it makes sense that the handheld Emily describes, if it is real, is an optional component to the console for BC or other features.

There will be a bundle with the handheld and one without. Think of it like a kinect. An optional $99 accessory that adds functionality to the system.

We should all just agree there are no reliable Nintendo leakers and let's move on with speculation.

Here's an exhaustive leak of reliable Nintendo news to watch:

  1. Nikkei (the only Japanese newspaper I think is trustworthy on Nintendo)
  2. Takashi Mochizuki (WSJ journalist, regularly covers Nintendo)
  3. Dr. Serkan Toto (pretty reliable as an analyst/Nintendo watcher but I don't think he has any insider info)
  4. Nintendo itself
I can't think of any others.

I took a tweet from ZhugeEx about the NX perhaps being a split launch in NA and the rest of the world and called it a source without saying it was a tweet from him. A rookie mistake. Wanted to make my post have more substance.

But the rest of the rumors were legit and my own.

And I narrowed my circle of trust over the months. I compare myself to when Emily first got started in the Wii U era.

People assume I steal all my rumors from random tweeters now and I got this tag when I returned from a ban.

Anyways. Off-topic. Just lay off Emily.

Well October is a crazy month too, Gears 4, Titanfall 2, Battlefield 1, PS VR etc, at this point I don't think Nintendo gives a thing about what is happening in the market when it comes to do their things

No idea about others but Nikkei's trackrecord is not 100%.

That's the thing: unless it comes from Nintendo it can be false for numerous different reasons. Things change, get misinterpreted or whatever.

Jesus Christ, I have been arguing this for a long time. I was trying to discuss patents and all anyone ever wanted to talk about was Twitter and Youtube personalities. "Hero" worship.
 
If Iwata was still here we would have gotten regular updates on the NX status because he would have felt bad for us all having to wait so long.

If you choose to pay attention to rumors, you need to look at how much somebody has gotten right. You can't necessarily fault somebody for sharing rumors that don't pan out, that's the nature of rumors. Plans may change or a source may have understood something incorrectly. It's also possible that a source just makes something up to throw people off or see if people are excited about an idea (I know this happens in sports).

But, if somebody has gotten their share of things right (as Emily has in my opinion), you might consider what they have to say. If you only want info that is 100% correct, stick to press releases.

Wow.

I can't believe some of the childish behavior in this thread. It's even worse that some are directing their frustration at Emily. She only reports on what she hears; sometimes it's accurate, and sometimes it's not. You all need to step back and look at the real source of your frustration: Nintendo.

I assume they're "skipping" because they will be discussing strategy and marketing at the NX reveal event and addressing the media beforehand will just be a lot of "no comment". Though maybe I shouldn't give Nintendo the benefit of the doubt here...

Can you list the stuff she has got right. Please don't list stuff people have leaked before her or generic stuff she got right like new Mario game for Nintendo console.

Atleast I can have peace in mind knowing Nintendo will atleast say the words NX next week. I don't even care if they say it's delayed at this point. Just to hear them talk about it is good enough for me.

The NX announcement speculation ups/downs and their effect on the online gaming community have been amazing. It's nothing short of extraordinary to watch the various wild speculations and inevitable disappointments. Stockholm Syndrome has fully set it with the NX at this point.

As much as I loved Iwata it's probably for the best Kimishima isn't making decisions based on things like this.

He has no mercy but I think getting this right is more important than how happy we are right now

For someone like me who studied and now works in Public Relations, she really makes my blood boil.

What I cannot stand about this woman is her habitual need to steal somebody else's thunder (when another person/media organization has just leaked something massive about the NX), and have the spotlight shine on her by pretending she's in cahoots with the rest of the industry insiders.

But then she takes it a step further...she pretends she's even more powerful and connected within the industry than the original source of the leak, by piggybacking on that same exact leak a day or two later, and adding her own tidbit..which is always super vague (Nintendo is developing a new "fun and crazy" IP) or simply common sense (NX supporting USB connectivity).

I just feel it's super disrespectful to REAL industry insiders who are taking the time to investigate the NX and write articles...only for freaking Emily Rogers to rock up 24-48 hours later and pretend she knows not as much but instead even more than the original source.

We just saw it happen again a few hours ago in her tweet with her having the nerve to claim she's the original source of Nvidia's involvement in the NX, when once again it's her taking credit for a leak from another source a day or two before she discussed it.
 
This has been a wild night and morning for some of you, hasn't it? The reason the thread isn't closed is because there needs to be a place to contain all these...emotions. I see someone got banned while I was asleep, so there you go.
I'm no longer interested in leakers, but at least the interest of others here is entertaining.

They're almost certainly not going to do a full hardware/software reveal of a consumer console product at an investor event. Even Nintendo isn't that weird.

They could do a more limited reveal (name, concept, possibly even images or a teaser video of the hardware) in conjunction with the announcement of a date for the full reveal, but I don't think they'd need to announce that in advance.
 
Jeez, everyone just take rumors with a grain of salt like normal people. When Emily says something, just know there's a big chance she's wrong.

The reveal will happen eventually. Just don't wake up each day wondering if "today is the day" because that will get old real fast. It's coming and there are a ton of ways to pass the time rather than jump down her throat.

...and I think it is totally legit to criticize someone, anyone, including her for her behavior. I get criticized here all the time just for my opinions. I am not claiming to be an "insider" or someone with sources. Calling her names is totally unacceptable, but criticizing her for her behavior is not bullying or attacking her. We just have to be careful not to pile on.

I think nobody is raging about journalists, bloggers, or even attention whores (no sexism intended) on here. A critical evaluation and discussion of sources on NX news should not be an issue.
