The only real positive for me is the software teams focus on singular hardware, which should dramatically improve output and quality.
The Xbox style pad is nice too. Other than that, it's pretty underwhelming. And I would never use the tablet.
I don't see this being a big hit for Nintendo. It has to compete with ever improving mobile phones, and also a selection of much better consoles for the home core gamer.
35 million tops.
Haha, I remember arguing with you about this in the EG leak thread. I (still) think Nintendo has hit gold with the mini controllers and instant, anywhere multiplayer concept, but I'd really love more full screen, multi unit local multiplayer too. Both Overwatch and Destiny should work fine assuming everyone's connected to wifi. Playing something like Borderlands with my buddies would be amazing, too.THIS aspect is what will make the console a success.
It's what i was telling i would have done.
Let people play local multi on the go, with games that were only online before.
Now Nintendo, move your old ass and go convince big community game devs to port their games (overwatch, destiny...)
There is a market here.
The 2 mini pads idea would have potential but it just seems horrible..
Better name than Wii U.
Design is pretty neat.
Still don't really care because we all know how third party support has been for the last ~20 years.
Lol at people having their "minds blown" over this. Perhaps I am trying to dampen the mood by being realistic, but as excited as I am to get this, nothing shown was mind blowing.
I was surprised at how close some of the fanfiction shit was. In last night's GameXplain analysis the way they said they'd start the trailer was essentially exactly what they did.
A press kit has not been released, but there are a few assets available.I don't have access to the US Press Site, but has there been a press kit released for the Nintendo Switch yet?
GAF's reaction at least has been surprisingly positive imo. I mean, I've seen some brutal Nintendo console reveals..I watched the trailer myself first before gauging and feedback and came away mostly impressed. But then, my social media is heavily negative about the device, and GAF seems pretty mixed as well.
I'm honestly a bit surprised
Did anyone else notice the framerate on the handheld in the Zelda gameplay?

I think my hopes are dashed for 60 fps on the NX (now Switch) version of Breath of the Wild. Still, can't wait to play it.

hehe really? Not even PS4 but PRO?
You better keep those expectations in check because there's 0% chance it'll match a PS4 let alone a Pro. It's a portable device.
When they're in the car, do you think that's an official accessory that's attached to the car seat? This would be great for kids on long trips if the battery can hold up.
Yep. Sure hope they get it to a stable 30.
This is a perfect console for kids.
Well I would imagine it will pick up the 3rd party support that Nintendo usually gets for it's handheld. So in that sense it's pretty decent. I wouldn't expect a lot of the big AAA western releases though, barring some serious software selling power.
Guys do we know anything about backwards compatibility and I obviously don't mean putting your Wii disk in but downloading Wii or Gamecube or N64 games on it, because if I can play, say Metroid Prime, on a handheld I will be all over this console.
OK, so some concerns:
-Pro Controller will be sold separately, will the Joy Con grip? Presumably not.
-So out of the box we get: Screen, detachable joy con controllers, joy con grip (to transform into a traditional controller)
The split controllers dont look useful as you have a pad, face buttons squished in, and presumably at least a shoulder button. That's fine though, using them together looks neat and friends can buy their own controllers.
How many buttons does the thing have for one person? What about shoulder buttons?
