The area surrounding the screen and the dock aside, it'll be pretty easy to customize the look using the Joy-Cons.

Thanks to mobile, there's no true blue ocean left anymore; there's no point in trying to catch lightning in a bottle again when the barrier to entry can't be lowered any further than F2P games with simple tap/swipe controls on hardware everyone already owns and carries around with them. Best to just abandon gimmicks and focus on software as the differentiator, because that's always been Nintendo's strongest asset.

As a recent thread was closed, and there seems to be a notion that Nintendo are releasing two bundles. The dock on it's own, and a deluxe version with dock and handheld element.
The handheld component contains the "brains" of the console, i.e the Nvidia soc. All the dock does is act as an output to a bigger screen.
So the dock by itself is nothing more than a gloridifed hdmi and usb port.
There's NO WAY Nintendo have an Nividia SOC on the dock and on the handheld.
Also by releasing two seperate bundles it goes against the point of the console, i.e being able to "switch"

Like I said before, my only major disappointment is that the trailer didn't end with an announcemwnt of when we can expect a more in depth reveal. Who knows how much silence we'll have to endure again.

So, I see they made a version of the Wii U where the gamepad is untethered to the console. Would've been nice if they had done that 4 years ago, then we wouldn't even need the Switch.
It looks like it might be larger than I would like. Definitely looks very long (so much side bezel :/). And the build quality will have to be good. How annoying would it be to have the detachable controllers wobble? And the controllers look uselessly small independently. Not sure why they bothered with that gimmick at all. I would have rather had a solid handheld with a dock than this hybrid that looks like it tries to do too much.
That said, I'm looking forward to more information and could see myself picking one up, depending on how everything else shakes out (developer support, online system, account system, digital sales, pricing, etc).

To be fair it's only something that you have to charge if you want to use it out and about / on the move else leave it docked. I mean really that's a negative?
Personally I thought that looked great. Depending on price and startup animation logo - I'm in.

Would have to be, no? Otherwise they are severely limited in power from the handheld portion. Although I think Nintendo has given up on being the homes "main" console.

I liked what I saw. It can essentially be used as a home console, a tablet, and as a portable console. The utility factor is really nice.

I'm not 100% bonkers about the design or concept - I'm never going to take that controller outdoors, it just looks so fragile. The games shown mostly seemed like works in progress or updates of stuff I already have for Wii U, and I'm not interested in Skyrim (though I agree it's cool that Elder Scrolls is showing up on a Nintendo system).
I'm not saying I'm disappointed or that what was shown wasn't really cool in many ways, but it's just mostly a placeholder for me right now until we learn about the early library and some of the really unique exclusives in development. We knew there would be a Mario Kart, new Splatoon, etc., so this just confirms that and what I saw wasn't radically different than what I can already play today. For me, I'll really get excited when we start to see the games being developed by Capcom, From Software, Platinum, Konami (??), Atlus, etc.

Looks promising. I like the name too. The Pro controller looks a bit prototype-y... hopefully it gets cleaned up a bit.
And I think the gamepad that's made of the two mini controllers looks pretty ugly, but overall I'm pretty hyped.

In the 12 years I've owned DS systems I've never had that problem, let alone heard of anyone else having that problem. Maybe on the New 3DS systems, but never the old ones.

I really hope third parties jump on this system.
The thought of Overwatch, Gwent, Hitman, Final Fantasy 15, etc on this sucker is making me drool.

I think the detachable controller being charged on the controller has an identical layout (and probably feel) like their "pro" controller. I'd imagine they would be similar if not the same in comfort.

Well as I said I need to see more dude. What is the UI like and the online set up? Those sort of things I take into consideration these days too. I like the new Zelda, pretty worn out on Mario and I will have to see what else they have.
I'm not ruling out a buy at all, just not feeling amazed or that impressed at the moment.

I'm going full-on pessimism with this one. Nintendo just seems to be smashing together different tech haphazardly and hoping it sticks.
The system's biggest fault is its size. If Nintendo wants me to use this as a portable system it needs to be able to fit into my pocket...as Nintendo handhelds have been able to since 1996, with the original DS hardware being the only outlier.
And no, I'm not going to start carrying around a manpurse just to play portable games. Hopefully a "Micro" system is in the cards for future release.
I'm also concerned this means the end of games made intentionally with a handheld in mind. Why would Square Enix make a Bravely Default when they can just port over Final Fantasy XV instead? Why would Nintendo make "A Link Between Worlds" when Breath of the Wild is playable on the system? There's so many experiences on the 3DS that were made with shorter play times in mind that I'm afraid are going to fall by the wayside just because now this thing plays the "big boy" games.
These promises from third parties from support are great and all...until you remember this:

Don't get me wrong, I'm purchasing the damn thing because Nintendo's software is basically all I play anymore, but man oh man if I don't miss the Wii U and 3DS already. Sigh.

I don't think anything is getting "cleaned up" at this stage in terms of hardware.
What we see is what we're getting They're not going to throw away the R&D and quickly make changes before March.
The good thing with Nintendo is they offer choice, so everyone will be able to find a control method they enjoy.
