What do we do with that bizarre plastic middle controller chunk when it's not being used? Does it just sit awkwardly on the coffee table, like black plastic table art?

Guys what exactly is this part?

Keeps your hands a bit further apart to make it more comfortable

Nope, that console(?) is nothing for me.
Which is sad, because I love Zelda, Smash Bros and Xenoblade yet not one console after the Gamecube did appeal to me. I bought a Wii, disliked it's Wii Remote very much and I only played on the Classic Controller. I didn't buy a WiiU und I won't buy a Switch.
I wished Nintendo would stop trying to be innovative and special. I just want to play Zelda on my TV, with a normal controller and up to date graphics. I hope I'm not tarred and feathered for this post, sorry. >__<

But the Switch will allow you to do that. Maybe you don't like the graphics, but many others do.

I'll buy it but...meh.

I'll have it on my TV only so whatever the price I'll overpay.

Portable must be way underpowered. Zelda looked around 20 fps.

Portable is the same as when docked. Zelda "looking around 20 fps" can be a shitty upload, same thing happened at E3 with the reveal trailer before they fixed it. And even if it actually had frame rate problems, the game doesn't come out tomorrow.

Dude it was all true. hahahahaha oh boy. Hhaha Nintendo has snapped.

Oh that sounds like a good name for this as well. Nintendo Snap.

I really wonder about storage. I assume games are going to be downloaded as well as on cartridge, so what are people thinking? 64GB internal? External (microSD) storage solution?

Let people play local multi on the go, with games that were only online before.
Now Nintendo, move your old ass and go convince big community game devs to port their games (overwatch, destiny...)

There is a market here.

I wonder actually. Aren't people too busy with their phones these days to play games like that?

My only real concern is with the battery life! Having the same visual fidelity on the go, will demand a quality power supply.

I like the concept and hopefully they'll nail it, so i can get my first Ninty console in long time.

It's amusing how people are claiming their own ability to not lose their property as a negative for the console.

Your TV sucks, you can lose the remote.

I'm excited by this concept, doesn't need to be a powerhouse of a console, Mario looked great and that's enough.

What's more worrying to me than losing something (which I think is a genuine point), is all of those moving part. The more parts, the more that can break down or go wrong. All those slots (two for each device) and those dinky controllers, I don't know. Seems needlessly convoluted to me.

The trailer was fantastic.

Oddly enough, even though I don't like Skyrim, my jaw dropped when I saw it. I couldn't believe that they managed to secure that kind of third-party support this time. There were legit tears rolling out of my eyes.

Nintendo has been in the doghouse with me the last couple years but I must admit this looks very promising. The third party support is impressive, but lets see how long they stick around. My one complaint so far is that controller looks like a complete train wreck. I hope it feels better than it looks...

I despise the misaligned left and right analog sticks. Why the hell would they do this to their Pro Controller when they executed it perfectly last-gen?

I assume it is to match the sticks on the handheld, which are designed that way so that when detached for multiplayer each person has the same layout.

When they're in the car, do you think that's an official accessory that's attached to the car seat? This would be great for kids on long trips if the battery can hold up.

I love the idea. Being a Nintendo Fan and a huge portable user this is what i wanted all my life.
This is Day 0 for me. Please be region free!!!!
Now show me all the games !!!

So we know it uses cartridges, but wouldn't it also be nice to be able to download titles when gaming on the go? Just seems a little restrictive...

Waiting for the games to make a final decision, but man I hope there is going to be a pocket version to get.
If this is going to be a merge of portable and handheld. It is going to suck as a 3ds replacement.
Just imagine the differences of taking a 3ds vs. Switch to work. During a break I can just take my 3ds out my pocket and play for a bit. If I want to do that with Switch i'd have to carry a bag.

The only real positive for me is the software teams focus on singular hardware, which should dramatically improve output and quality.

The Xbox style pad is nice too. Other than that, it's pretty underwhelming. And I would never use the tablet.

I don't see this being a big hit for Nintendo. It has to compete with ever improving mobile phones, and also a selection of much better consoles for the home core gamer.

35 million tops, maybe a bit more if it has good software support.

Can we take a moment to appreciate how close this GAFer got? Even the color is right

I was surprised at how close some of the fanfiction shit was. In last night's GameXplain analysis the way they said they'd start the trailer was essentially exactly what they did.

That advert was bloody amazing. Sorry but it was clear and concise to what it does.

Amazing looking console. I am not expecting PS4pro levels of power, but this could be a return to form from Nintendo.

hehe oh really? Well I sure as hell would hope nobody expect that.
You guys better keep those expectations in check because there's 0% chance it'll match a PS4 (let alone a Pro.) It's a portable device.
The thing won't perform anywhere near a PS4 mate. IMO the best we can expect is:

WiiU -- NX -- X1 - PS4 - PS4P -- Scorpio

Basically halfway WiiU and Xbone.
Remains to be seen if the dock is just a software upscaler or if, imo unlikely, also gives it a nice bump so that internal rendering is actually native 1080p compared to portable mode supposed 720p screen/rendering resolution

When they're in the car, do you think that's an official accessory that's attached to the car seat? This would be great for kids on long trips if the battery can hold up.

That had to have been a custom mount since the screen fits perfectly into place. Who knows if it'll actually be released though.

Wait, is that a new Mario Kart as well? I was under the impression that it was Mario Kart 8, but I don't remember Boo being a playable character in that one.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

I have questions about the B button, the grass in the Mario game, how to use this on a train, and cartridge color.

Should I start a new thread for each?

Better name than Wii U.
Design is pretty neat.
Still don't really care because we all know how third party support has been for the last ~20 years.

Ending the trailer with an obvious esports emphasis was interesting. I can't believe that they didn't show smash as the final game at the end though, the setting was perfect for it.

Just managed to watch the video. I'm getting this day one, and I skipped the Wii U.

Splatoon, baby! Now it needs Color Splash and 3D World and I'm all set.
