Rockefellers. Skull and Bones. Microsoft. Al Qaeda. A Cabal of Bankers. The melting point of steel. What do these things have in common? Wake up sheeple, the landfill wasn't even REAL!
Yeah, I have zero interest in the portability of it when I'm carrying around an iPhone 7. So as a home console what makes it special?

only Nintendo games, as always

I already spend a good portion of my day playing vita at work, so this will be dope.

Only worries are battery life (guessing 3 hours) and accessories / storage being stupid expensive.

I would imagine that there has to be a fan in the back of that base to cool off the tablet. The kind of crappy thing about this console is that those that just want a new Nintendo console and will probably never use it as a tablet have to eat the cost of the display. Maybe they should have made two versions. One with everything in the base and one like they shown today.

I mean... even if people aren't going to take it out of the house, and don't plan to ever undock it...

As a Wiiu owner I think they are in for a pleasant surprise. Being able to keep my game going when I need to go to another room, or laying in bed, or when my girl "needs" to watch something on the TV, has been so awesome.

Gotta say, I don't give a single damn about playing multiplatform games on this thing, I don't care about the dumb looking-small controllers, and I don't care about taking that big ass tablet thing on the go.

But the idea of all Nintendo devs focused on one platform? I'm 100% sold.

Now I'm just hoping the price is right.

Will be interesting to see what's in the dock; it looks too big to be a big empty piece of plastic with TV out and some USB ports. But having extra hardware would force devs to have two versions of each game, like with PS4 now.

I like it, but if Nintendo really wants my loyalty, this thing will be able to essentially behave like a tablet.

Like, it NEEDS a place in the overall modern device hierarchy.

I know it is impossible, but if this was somehow an android derivative, it would actually have some real teeth.

The only things that we don't know at this stage that I could do on the gamepad were youtube, internet browser etc but I think those sort of things are in.

No stylus though I don't think, but at least unlike the Wii U we don't need a tv to set the console up lol.

With Nvidia on board I would expect you'll be able to do most of the stuff you can do on the Nvidia Shield

rn looking like 30-50 mil Ltd imo

ofc price and marketing will be bigger effects but this teaser was already more well done than the Wii U's plus it seems Nintendo has a better grasp on things software wise
At least if it fails, we dont have to listen to insufferably narrow claims that the wii u name was too close to wii and thats why it failed :p

I wasnt impressed at first but as I watched that trailer, I became more intrigued by it.

Definitely better than the Wii U considering I actually felt like I wanted to buy this thing by the end of it.

It's pretty strange because for the first time a Nintendo console doesn't look very Nintendo which is a good change of pace but also pretty unusual.
Forgot about the Wii? The Wii also ditched the design language of Nintendo (white/gray, angular).

This trailer was 100% Wii vibe. It's great that they recognized they had to go back to that IMO.

Wonder how the battery life is going to be. If it can last more than a couple of hours I'll be impressed

Yeah I'd say 4-5 hours TOPS. Battery life isn't just a Nintendo tablet problem though. Hopefully Nintendo was smart enough to have USB charging; or at least something just as easy.

Yeah i think the system will be good, but that this device is simultaneously a poor reading of the market. Was hoping there would be a better hook so Nintendo could be console competitive again.

Not sure this does it.

This is how I'm feeling. Nintendo games don't really do anything for me, and nothing in this video hardware showcase has sold me. I guess it's cool to have a tablet with built in controllers?

I don't play games on the go so this doesn't interest me particularly as a concept but will get if there are games that interest me on it.
You can play every single game anywhere in your house though, perfectly, no lag, no artifacts, no compromises, just awesome comfy gaming, in the sofa, bed, comfy chair etc. It'll be frickin awesome even if you never step outside with your gaming gear.

I mean iPads get a solid 10 hours of battery life, so I see no reason this can't at least be in the 4-6 hour range.

To be fair, not everyone has a use for that either. I'd rarely do that as I'd rather just play on the big screen and comfy loveseat in my mancave. I don't share that room/TV with my fiance as we have another room with the same size TV for watching stuff together or her watching her shows and movies.

I wouldn't be surprised they offer this later if it sells well.

That being said, I can't see the display costing that much, anyway.

It certainly looks interesting, but I can't imagine taking this anywhere outside the house. Odd that their video features nothing but hipsters, no kids or families at all.

I'm intrigued, but I also feel like I've been down this road with Nintendo several times already. People are hyped. They'll buy one and once Nintendo blows their load with their major franchises it could be the same old game draught again.

I haven't seen a stylus slot either. It may means it's capacitive (for the better of the worse, depending on who you ask)

Still, how do you market touch games? Mobile-only? I wouldn't be surprised it's only touch-enable for the UI.

Miiverse I hope.

I'm sure that 3DS developmemt will indeed cease and I share the same feeling as yours.
I hope it will cost around £300-350.

I don't think Nintendo has any other choice. If enthusiast market have their PC/XB1/PS4, casual market have their smart devices, where would that leave Nintendo?

Since Nintendo *had* to make a hardware, I think this is the only way. Time will tell if there are any market for this.

The Wii U Pad was bothersome and now they're releasing an enhanced version of it.

Not impressed at all.

Don't see how. The Wii U Pad was bothersome because developers couldn't figure out how to use the second screen, or it became cumbersome during gameplay. Otherwise, it was great for off TV-play. Games on the Switch will only ever use one screen.

For me: playing games in bed. Or out on the porch during a beautiful day.

For the older crowd, anything that lowers the barrier to enjoy games at home.

Right now, it often feels like an entire production to play a game on my TV so I often just don't bother and watch a movie or read a book on my tablet instead.

Only none of this worked if your house is more than ten square feet, and nothing since 2015 supported off TV play. So I for one am really excited to finally be able to do this.

I have the exact same feelings towards it. Really curious how they price it.

So this thing is a new portable or a new console?

Yeah that's the real question for me.
Like, is this just for the usual Nintendo Console stuff and they will release a "4DS" next year, or is this THE Nintendo device.
Basically combining the 2 lines, meaning we will get all the stuff that was usually DS/3DS exclusive on this thing too.

I wonder if Nintendo licenses that TLC song for the marketing campaign lol.

It's both.

No other Nintendo hardware has been rumored so far.

Not necessarily - could be used for a resolution bump first and foremost (many games/engines support dynamic resolution on the fly for stable FPS). Could be used for added AA or IQ in general. No need to make a different version at all.

Sounds more like an accessory than a new console with that name.

Anyways, I hope that they do something new with their IPs, like Super Mario Sunshine and Metroid Prime on the Gamecube. Give me a reason to look forward towards this console; please no more Super Mario 3D World, Super Mario U, Metroid Other M...

You're being innovative with this new console, be innovative with your games now.
