Anyone able to surmise what the four buttons atop the pro controller are?
it's so the dpad can function as face buttons when the controller is splitWhat the hell did they do to the D-Pad. Awful
So, any idea when we'll see a price etc...?
I noticed NO mobile casual games or kids. Nintendo is really targeting the core gamers.
People who think this is another WiiU make me almost wonder if they were alive back then.
Does scalable processor mean games would perform better when docked?
I've got one problem. The DPad.
I appreciate some don't consider it too important in today's gaming world but it just seems a bit small and the placement is strange as well.
My hands aren't the largest but I can imagine it will be hard to pull off combos if a fighter ever comes to the system.

That's the + button (Nintendo's pause button). The directional buttons are on the left side.I've got one problem. The DPad.

Sorry if this has been mentioned, but did anyone notice the 'stand' they slide the Switch into in the car? Potential accessory?
Yes my own opinion is the processor "downclocks" when on the go to improve battery life, and then goes full power when docked.
Not the ridiculous notion that the dock has an extra cpu and gpu that "boost" games, and will be sold seperately for those that don't want a handheld.
Some people are already guessing how much the dock is and how much the deluxe bundle with handheld is lol. Man I wish that shit would stop.
Very likely. When portable power draw has to be kept to a minimum to even have a hope of 5-6 hours of battery life, so 720p makes sense. When plugged into the wall, the screen is off ( = less heat) and there's no battery power draw, so you can up the clockspeed instead.
It's pretty likely to be a 1080p = docked, 720p = portable situation.
No.
For real.
No, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them offer a home-only version later, but definitively not at launch. They know how multiple SKU/devices can confuse people, they won't try it.
Also, I can't see a large price advantage of ditching the portable part, so they may keep this till they offer a different GPU, PS4-Pro style.
Why a $100 difference to basically remove a cheap 720p 6" screen, a battery and some plastic?
yeah but it's like forty years old. you gotta let go at some pointI just hope this doesn't mean they'll cut support/games for the 3DS. I adore my 3DS. :<
Possibly, but I would be ok with that. Wii U is an excellent complement to one of the main systems or a PC. That's pretty much all I expect out of this guy and all I would need to be happy.i'm predicting another wiiu here.
def next week around the investors meeting, shareholders need to know
"Playing MP online and can't pause? Now you don't have to forfeit the match when you need to go to the toilet"
Nobody?
You don't buy a console for third-party titles.
Having third-party titles is nice though.
That trailer was corny as fuck and ripe with shitty amateur acting.
But I may actually be interested in this thing. Will wait for more details.
I was, I got the exact same vibes from this reveal as I did from the Wii U.
I was, Nintendo die hards thought it was the best thing ever.
They will sell more Switches in 18 months that WorldWide LTD Wii U.i'm predicting another wiiu here.
Never.yeah but it's like forty years old. you gotta let go at some point
Interesting concept. Nintendo's role is to innovate.
BUT
It all comes down to software and support. I'll have to wait and see how they do this time.
No way, this wil out sell the Wii U easily.
Do you guys think they will sell it packed as this?
1) Handheld only
2) Handheld + dock + plastic thing in the middle
Pro controller sold separtely
So does it upscale to 1080p when docked? I hope not.
So still no DVD playback, GG Nintendo I'm done with this shit company
GAF squealed like little girls over the WiiU, too. Didn't pan out. Neither will this.
This thing will have more SKU's than a Korean BBQ Pit.

Tablet W/ Dock
Tablet W/Dock, Pro Controller
My issue is that with 5 kids, if this is the main gaming system for the living room, if I take the Switch to work, they'll need another tablet to dock and play. They'll have to sell the DOCK and the Tablet separate. It will not work as a bundle only system.
I didn't think about this. I'll still miss the old D-Pad but I can understand the changeit's so the dpad can function as face buttons when the controller is split
pretty smart imo
My issue is this.
The main issue with the diminishing handheld space was the lack of a compelling argument why anyone would carry one in the age of smartphones. Handhelds were losing that argument. The "console style games on the go" argument was lost with Vita already, and people decided 99 cent smartphone games were preferrable.
What does this do to change that issue? What is the hook? People can play all third party games on more competent hardware elsewhere, and more portable games elsewhere. So you end up with the same problem as before, not compelling most of either audience.
At least that is how i see this playing out. Unless Nintendo has some remarkable marketing for the Switch.
Question for whoever knows, this is taken from nvidia's blog:
Does scalable processor mean games would perform better when docked?

Umm, that's basically Nintendo's entire handheld strategy. They force you to have to buy another system for everyone in the house. That's why the pricing on this is so critical, it's not a home console at all, it's a portable with TV play. Getting folks used to that idea will be a lot easier with a low price point. This thing will have more SKU's than a Korean BBQ Pit.
