Bold speculation there, Laura. You mean the entire thing the marketing was hinged upon is actually sold as a single unit? Shocker.

Yeah, wondering about multitasking on this thing. The share button implies better things than Wii U. No one will share stuff if it takes too long. I don't expect background music playback and other fancy stuff though. Or streaming.
 
Imo it would make more sense to sell the dock separately than the main unit. They could sell it for cheap, and then people can have a dock hooked up to every tv in the household so they can move around easily.

It's not supposed to be bold. Whether or not it's obvious to some that the SKU will contain a dock, lots of others are talking about a dockless version. She is prolly just clarifying for them.

The dock requires an HDMI Cable and a PSU. I assume it's not going to be as cheap as buying a power adapter for the 3DS, could be somewhat more.

It's not a speculation. She repeated what someone else said to her. Someone she trusted, anyway.

I guess this kinda answers my question that you can't just connect Switch with an HDMI cable or something to any TV. What I want to know is if we're able to dock one Switch to another's Dock.

They can still offer the dock as an accessory while including it in the initial SKU, for those who want multiple setups.
 
Lets not bite the hand that feeds guys. I know to many of us, Nintendo foregoing a dockless Switch sku was "obvious" but I have seen plenty of posters on this very forum who were entertaining the possiblity of such a sku being made available at launch.

For the first time i think i could buy two time the same console. One for me and one for my son.

This could be a nice Netflix/Youtube player for him.

I agree with this. There's also the potential for a "travel dock" to be sold separately which is much smaller than the main dock, and maybe doesn't include the USB ports or whatever else the dock might have. That way you can take your Switch and travel dock with you to another house that has no dock.

My only concern right now is only in how the OS is going to be in this thing. Hope it's NOTHING NOTHING like the one on Wii U. Sure, Wii U's OS it's responsive and gets the job done but it simply looks old fashioned af. With those huge bobbly buttons all over with tons of limitations. I hope those rumors about Nintendo teaming up with Android for the OS become true or something, because honestly, that's the only way I could see Nintendo pulling a modern OS on Switch.
 
To me the more interesting part is that you can't plug the system directly into a TV. This would be a cool feature, since any where you bring the system is likely to have a tv and extra hdmi cable.

Does it mean it is technically impossible, because the dock does something to help the system output to the tv? If not, maybe a 3rd party will create an hdmi cable for the switch.

I dunno, the quick start feature and menu layout were pretty damn good. A more speedy OS and account system that allows for transfer at will and I'll be happy.

We don't know whether it'd be possible or not. I talked about this earlier. Nintendo should certainly provide a 'conventional' TV-out solution for big-screen gaming away from home.

Oh wait, this was the original Nvidia rumor? I had no idea because the rumors in the past 6 or 7 months all seem like a blur. But if it's true and that article was the original Nvidia rumor, that sounds like it may say good things about price.

In case UI is the thing that bothers you the most, I think Miitomo and My Nintendo provide a nice preview of what we should expect from Nintendo Switch user interface. And guess what, they look fairly good! They are sleek and modern, yet keep that Nintendo touch.

Wii U interface was just designed at the very end of the "3D interface" trend. And for a ten-foot UI designed (probably) in 2011, it doesn't look half bad. (I particularly like floating buttons on the background of the application grid.)

$225 might also be possible. $250 is the highest I think it should be, based on what we know is included. I think it should be priced as close to cost as possible for the best mainstream success.

Agreed! Plus, they can save a few bucks (if they do bundle in a game) by making it pre-installed or including a download code. I imagine they go with pre-installed.

To be honest, Wii U already has 1GB reserved exclusively for the OS and we all know how bad it is.
On Switch, at this point I don't even care about voice chat, multitasking and all the fancy stuff that could potentially come with the new OS. Just make it fast enough so we don't have to stare at blank screens for God knows how long everytime we want to go to settings, etc.

My issue with the Wii U menu (and especially the 3DS menu) is that it takes forever to do anything. I think the Wii U menu is actually really pleasant and calm, with peaceful music.

I think it was perfectly fine. Since we don't get anything by Nintendo it seems (let's wait for the investor's meeting) small info nuggets like that are totally fine by me as long as they come regularly.

Probably she's not a supply chain project manager and has no idea of the costing's for these sorts of things. So she's making that up as she's going along. The devs she's talking to probably don't have a clue either. Besides the most generic of estimates. All this obviously also ignores how much if any profit Nintendo wants to make on this.
 
I hope they do put the Joycon grip in the SKU. It provides an (almost) true gamepad to go along with TV mode. Without it it's not really an 'all in one' unit IMO. I know you can use the Joycons alone, but they might be a bit naff in some cases.

Not that it particularly matters to me as I will be getting a pro pad, but still it would be a bit skimpy if not.

It needs to be included. Why include the dock if you can't play Switch while docked.

Unfortunately, the XB1 is way worse. I hear PS4 is good but has problems with download time.
