It's the same thing, just with your hands not tethered to each other.

No it's not the same thing. One is Wii the other one is resembling a controller. If what you're saying was the case, why would the Grip even exist then? You could just sell the Pro Controller and skip this odd half-step called the Grip.

Just to further point, none of the people in the trailer use the Wii setup at home.

Hajime Tabata (Final Fantasy XV's Director) came by Gameblog's office today and our EIC asked him what he thinks about the Switch. His quote is here: http://www.gameblog.fr/news/63223-nintendo-switch-hajime-tabata-final-fantasy-xv-nous-dit-ce-q

He said that he's very interested in the Switch and that he's been wanting to create a game for a Nintendo console for a while. He also said that he'd be glad to create a game for the Switch.

(Gameblog's sources have told our EIC that a FF XV Switch port is already in development).

Hey, I am legitimately looking forward to again play games with my hands laying on a sofa - it's really laid-back and relaxing in comparison to using classic controllers.

Joy-Cons with Grip is obviously the preferred method of using Joy-Cons at home, but the untethered variant has all rights to exist.

Sure it does, but not as the default.

they certainly OWN Bayonetta, Max Anarchy/mad world and W101.

What.

Bayonetta and Wonderful 101 absolutely belong to SEGA and Nintendo respectively. I think MadWorld and Anarchy Reigns are owned by SEGA as well (they published both games). When Bayonetta got in Smash, they didn't put Platinum in the trademarks, because SEGA was already there.

You might as well be saying they own the Transformers license instead of Activision.

I dunno, the quick start feature and menu layout were pretty damn good. A more speedy OS and account system that allows for transfer at will and I'll be happy.

Yeeeeees! Account based system with no region lock and this will be the GOAT console.

In case UI is the thing that bothers you the most, I think Miitomo and My Nintendo provide a nice preview of what we should expect from Nintendo Switch user interface. And guess what, they look fairly good! They are sleek and modern, yet keep that Nintendo touch.

Wii U interface was just designed at the very end of the "3D interface" trend. And for a ten-foot UI designed (probably) in 2011, it doesn't look half bad. (I particularly like floating buttons on the background of the application grid.)

Good thing Miitomo's UI looks nice, despite the Miis wich I'm not a big fan of. Yeah hope they manage to bring a sleek and good looking UI/OS on Switch. I agree that Wii U's UI looks good for what it is but definitely looks outdated af now.

Sega PUBLISHES games. just like Microsoft published Mass Effect 1. but they dont own the IPs of any P+ games. just like microsoft doesnt own Mass Effect.

P+ is an independent studio and Sega is their publishing partner.

if you cant understand that, well then there is no help for you.

But as per those initial publishing deals, Sega & Nintendo gained ownership of the Bayonetta & Wonderful 101 IPs respectively.

As mentioned before, check the copyrights for the characters in Smash 4 when Bayonetta joined. There's zero mention of PlatinumGames.

Guys is true that Nintendo told some sources they are not showing more Switch info in the investors meeting this week? Or do you expect at least price, specs or games info this week?

Lol, look, you're just completely and utterly wrong here and nobody here is gonna back you up.

Sure it does, but not as the default.

Well, it depends, but yeah.

I think Joy-Con Grip actually serves not only as an ergonomic controller adaptor, but also as one of the main pieces of branding and marketing. ("Look, it's a no-frills classic controller you love, and it can be disassembled for travelling or multiplayer!") There is a reason why Nintendo showed it first in the reveal video.

Probably she's not a supply chain project manager and has no idea of the costing's for these sorts of things. So she's making that up as she's going along. The devs she's talking to probably don't have a clue either. Besides the most generic of estimates. All this obviously also ignores how much if any profit Nintendo wants to make on this.

Unless you're looking at a significant loss, pricing something is always about how much people are willing to pay, not how much it actually costs.

I can't imagine using both Joy-Con like a WiiMote & Nunchuk being the default control method. That would be ludicrous.

Ludicrous? Remember how the Wii sold? Having a split control scheme with dual analogs is pretty much my gaming dream. It's the most comfortable and functional control scheme I could possibly think of.

Anyway it's largely a moot point. It's very likely that the joycon grip is included in the base SKU as a means to charge the joycons when not attached to the console.

The article says "is considered (for the Switch)", not "in development.

I work for Gameblog and just asked my EIC. He said that he talked to someone who played a version of the game running on the Switch. That doesn't mean that the game will be released but that, at the very least, they're considering it.

I also think Joy Con grip will habe it's own battery. When the Switch and zJoy Cons are low on battery after using it outside. You want to be able to dock the Switch and carry on plating and not have to wait for Joy Cons to charge up

If Platinum owned Bayonetta, they'd be listed here. Bayonetta however belongs to SEGA, although the rights to Bayonetta 2 belong to Nintendo hence the trademark. But PG doesn't own any of it.

Uhhh... that's... not a common thing to do for a project that you are "considering"...

In fact, that's kind of a big deal.

I thought about that too. There is a reason why Grip has some indicators near the Joy-Con connectors when it could have easily been just a piece of plastic.

I am expecting more Switch information from the news conference.

Why? Nintendo stated that there would be no new NX information until 2017.

Hasn't gameblog been making up a fair amount of info over the past few months? Or posting other rumors as their own? How trustworthy is this website?

If this is true this was one of my games on my Square Enix list!

I still want FFVIIR and KH3 and the FFX/X-2 remaster on Switch too

I don't disagree that it's a good control scheme, I played tons of Wii and liked it just fine. Nintendo abandoning the Wii brand as much as possible but keeping this as the default control scheme? No way.

They could've just thrown it at the hardware to see what happens, how much effort it takes to port and optimize etc. I'd be surprised if it wasn't released on Switch though.

Actually they own none of those games. Bayonetta and Mad World are owned by Sega. Nintendo owns the Wonderful 101. I'm not sure about something like Little King's story or Infinite Space though.

What does Little King's Story have to do with PlatinumGames?

Actually, who owns Little King's Story now? It was initially made by CiNG, published by a different company in every region, then remade by Konami... or was it Marvellous? And there's also a PC port...

What makes you say that?

From what I understand about the X1 and what Nintendo is doing with this, I just don't think it's close enough to Xbox One or PS4 hardware for companies like EA and Activision to bother doing ports of Battlefield 1 or Infinite Warfare. It looks like ports of last-gen games would run perfectly fine, but I think current gen ports would probably have to have a lot of changes and compromises. The most I'd expect from COD would be maybe a multiplayer-and-zombies-only version or something.

I'd expect S-E to at least consider a FFXV port, so that Gameblog rumor makes sense to me. The question is how much effort it takes to get the engine going adequately.

Why? Nintendo stated that there would be no new NX information until 2017.

I wouldn't expect anything big but I suspect we'll get an interesting quote or two.

Wtf am I readin. Did you say the same thing about Wii COD when it came to PS3/360?

Did you not see DQXI and Project Sonic are coming to Switch along with what you call "current gen" systems.

Are you really saying last gen lmao.

I'd recommend reading this post from the Nvidia thread. It does a good job summarizing the discussion we've been having there.

Bottom line is a stock TX1 properly optimized should perform a lot better than the GFlops number indicates, and Nvidia has stated that the Switch uses a custom SoC based on the worlds "top performing" Nvidia chips- which suggests (along with several other rumors) that the Switch will use a more modern Pascal based Tegra chip, which should perform quite a bit more efficiently (more processing power per watt).

So the Switch will likely be a lot closer to XB1 levels in real world performance than it is to the Wii U. It could even be closer to XB1 than the XB1 is to the PS4. So ports should not be a technical problem, more of an audience/demographics problem.

Report: No Headphone Port on Nintendo Switch Pro Controllers
Yes, here we go again, even more Nintendo Switch news.
According to a source close to the production of the Switch reveal trailer, we have learned that the Switch Pro Controller doesn’t feature a headset port, either proprietary or standardised. This info is based on the hardware model shown during the Switch reveal, and based on the assumption that the hardware used in that trailer is representative of final design.
There is no spot on the controller to connect a headset, unlike the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 controllers.
Yep, more tiny morsels of info for the clamouring hoards. Eat up.

Please visit the site to support our only Switch news source, copying the text here in case the site goes down again -> http://letsplayvideogames.com/2016/10/report-no-headphone-port-on-nintendo-switch-pro-controllers/

Wii is not really something that bolsters your argument, seeing as it got throwaway ports or spinoffs in a lot of cases. Modern Warfare: Reflex and Dead Rising: CTYD come to mind.

And even the Wii-U got a few ports at launch, didn't it get COD:Ghosts? It's not really indicative of long-term support at least.

There will obviously be some games multiplatform games that will be released on Switch. But I'm sure the poster was talking about expecting majority of AAA multiplatform games like Red Dead, Mass Effect, Ghost Recon and etc the achances are quite low.
