Nintendo Switch Presentation - January 12th

animated-countdown.gif
What are we counting down to, again?

you know switch is cool and all that but I fucking hate all these dates, all of them. First reveal, second reveal and release.

I could have been playing Zelda on a brand new nintendo hardware under my bedsheets, drinking coffee from day to night between December 21st til January 06th, when I have all the time in the world.

but no, just no, can't do.

just move everything to fucking March, no time to play games, stressed as hell, no more "Holidays money".

so my reaction to this January presentation reel is whatever, you screwed up my holidays already so I don't care either way.

It's time to make a new legendary January presentation, they'll probably announce some megatons there, even more that investors hated the video last week.

You would think saving up your holidays money to buy a console with a range of flexibility that allows you to play any time and any place you want would avoid all of these problems you have with its release.

Save your "holidays money" until March??

Pretend the tinfoil hat 'delayed to holiday 2017' speculators are correct.

Well

Good on Nintendo for locking it down

Guess i need to just turn off thinking about it this holiday and prepare for a fresh new year

Guess I'm gonna need to start stocking up the midnight oil.

Still, makes sense. Post holiday madness, and there's only the one major release to compete with for attention. Even in February there's barely anything, so Nintendo should be able to dominate the attention of gamers for a while if they make a good showing. Two months should be enough time for early adopters to make plans, while a March release date makes the de facto next big press event - E3 - only three months away. For the first half of 2017, news about the Switch - and Nintendo's chief offerings - will be coming at regular if large intervals. Its a good strategy.

oh I do have money for videogames in general, I mean, it's just a terrible point in the year, personally.

my birthday is on December 22nd.

the feeling of having birthday, and then two free weeks to immerse myself into a major Zelda game, with the winterwind and snow outside, pancakes on sunday morning, ugh, it's pure joy, I have those memories from when twilight princess released.

I guess I'll have to settle with something else, like FFXV or Last Guardian but I wanted it to be Zelda, dammit -_-

i don't know anything

Zelda and Mario on the same day? That's not going to happen. That's 2 of Nintendo's biggest games. They need to spread those out. Zelda launch, Mario for Christmas period in 2017. Also, Miyamoto himself said that they'd share more info on the 3D Mario game at E3 in 2017.

I feel the same way, lol. Being a teacher, I had to do this same thing with XCX last December/January during the kid's vacation. 241 hours played in two weeks. It was totally worth it!!

They will revealt that the Mario footage in the reveal was just a tech demo. EAD Tokyo is really working on Metroid and F Zero.

LMAO. Im sure they could have released it in November with no games.

Very intriguing. I am looking forward to this presentation.

I realize you're joking, but for anyone doubting the Mario game is a real one, Eurogamer leaked prior to the reveal that it was partially delayed to get Mario running well for the reveal. That coupled with Miyamoto-san's previous comments about the next 3D Mario game indicates this is a real game and not just a tech demo.

And just the subject matter, tech demos rarely use new settings for existing games, instead preferring to use standard environments to highlight what new effects bring to old gameplay.

This has me a lot more worried about the switch, seems a little late to start pre-orders, really worried they are hiding bad news. Will see still remain intrested in getting my 1st Nintendo console since the game cube!
