So uh, Titanfall 2 Campaign is amazing

The impressions sound great, kind of tempted to buy it. Though first I want to know something. How are the shooting/movement mechanics in this game?

Is it similar to games like CoD and Destiny (with movement speed penalties when zooming your weapon, and accuracy penalties for hip-fire, while airborne, etc) or is it more like Halo and Doom?

A great title, trying to convince people I know to buy and play. They aren't biting for some reason based on the original MP only thing. I keep telling them it has SP now.

The mechanics are some of the best of the genre, IMO the shooting feels better than halo 5 or DOOM. Movement mechanics are in peak form too.

I would say the hip-fire is somewhere in between, depending on the gun. There's a weapon mod that's designed for running and hip-firing, which is the intent of the game - for you to keep moving. The SMGs really push it to close to DOOM speeds of gameplay. However, the game also lets you take things slow with more accurate rifles with lower rate of fire, but they also have the run-and-gun weapon mod.

Just finished the campaign, it was amazing. Exceedingly well paced, the voice acting was great (dat Matt Mercer), the narrative/writing were nothing special but also not bad at all, slightly above average. The one thing that did work was the connection between Jack and BT, I was pretty fond of that robot by the end. Superb level design, I enjoyed the focus on platforming challenges mixed with the tight shooting mechanics, and it was fun to find the collectibles. Easily a game I could see myself going back to platinum. Overall I would say it's worth it for the campaign alone, if you are ok with a short campaign you can replay a few times.

So I should I feel bad for renting this game from Redbox? I loved the game but I don't care for the multiplayer on console's, unless there is DLC coming out for the single player I don't see myself paying full price for this game.

I will buy the game when it goes on sale though to replay this amazing campaign.

Incredible campaign. So many moments that had me rethinking FPS games. Probably the single best FPS campaign I have ever played (maybe tied with Doom), and I've played a lot.

Don't really see too many people talking about that level where (TITANFALL 2 SPOILERS)
you get that cool magnet gun and do a lot of platforming around it. Like you gotta twitch shoot some magnets when you're really close to them so the platform gets down fast enough so you can land on it.

That level feels awesome.

The real saddest part of the game: When you walk up to that maintenance bot and take that device from him, he just looks at his hands and says, "Where did it go?" and then starts crying. :'(

Yeah, that's one of my favorite levels of the game, above the
time travel one
, even. Just a lot of fun platforming all the way through.

Haha ok I thought that was a very random but funny part.
The :( face was great.

Didn't even notice this. Gotta check it out.

Campaign is filled with a lot of little details like these. From enemy banter to animations, so much care seemingly went into a lot of small stuff.

did anyone else get a strong Metro 2033/Last Light vibe from that mission? The 'Cause and effect' mission as well actually. Very atmospheric and intriguing.

They prob heard how short it was. I wouldn't wanna fork over 60 bucks for a 5 hour campaign if I wasn't interested at all in the mp at all.

Just finished and all i want to say is Effect and Cause is the best fps singleplayer mission i've played in recent years oh also the BT/Cooper bound is far beyond then what i expected,it's mature and BT's writing was top notch.

Played it and it didn't really change my opinion. It honestly blows my mind the amount of praise this game is getting. I normally don't like to shit on games but I paid 60 for the digital version and feel the need to gripe:

- campaign is straight up repetitive and boring. Story delivery is meh
- art direction and level design is bland as hell.
- graphics look like a high res PC game from the 90's with no lighting...guess that's the cost of 60 fps
- guns look like they were designed with a random weapon parts generator

Still gonna see the campaign through, just got to
some assault on an air base mission after meeting Briggs
.

Fair enough. I will say I don't LOVE the campaign as much as almost everyone else does (the story and writing drag it down for me) but I'm having a lot of fun and looking forward to replaying it on a higher difficulty.

Got a pretty loose definition of piracy there...

I mean the guy is advising people to play the game, finish it and ask for a refund. Not because they didn't like it, not because it doesn't run on their PC but just because its short enough. Might as well send him the torrent link for it. Call it Fraud or Piracy or whatever you want m8

Origin's Great Game Guarantee allows this sort of thing, but if you purchase Titanfall 2 with the intention to return it, it's return fraud.

There's no stealing or loss though. It's exactly the same as game piracy in morality.

And if redbox is your other option, the point is that those companies will purchase extra copies to keep up with demand.

Are you gonna call used games piracy, too?

Do you think it's wrong to watch a movie and then ask for a refund after it finishes?

Let's be real though, I wanted this for Man of Steel.

This stuff is fine (do it will food too) but not if it's your intention to ask for a refund prior to the experience...

OKay, so I jacked the difficulty up to Master and holy shit is this hard. Enemies all have pinpoint accuracy and hit like trucks. It feels like Halo 2 Legendary, though not quite as bad as that since you have a larger toolset (movement, stealth). I don't really think I'd say I'm enjoying it, though that may change when things get a little tighter (still trying to
pick up BT's powercells.
)

Are you talking about a movie on a physical format, like a DVD? If so, then no. If someone doesn't like the movie, if they want to return it and the retailer's return policy allows them to do so, then they should be allowed to return it.

Mind you, this is a bit of a micro-discussion about the value of a 5-hour campaign, a topic this forum has covered before. Not all gamers value games with short campaigns that have more of a multiplayer focus. Some people don't want to pay $60 for that.

And what we're talking about here isn't even illegal. "Wardrobing" isn't legally considered return fraud. Scummy as fuck and ain't-shit as hell? Yeah, no doubt. But that's not piracy, or even illegal.

It was easy outside of one very annoying boss fight (and one part you're locked in, but you can just cloak and say bye lmao).

Stick to sniper-like guns. Aim for the head for the Spectres

You don't die in 1 hit by snipers so it's nothing like Halo 2 Legendary

It's like a hit and a half. There's a bit with
3 spectres sniping
where they can effective 1sk you since they all shoot at once.

It's a pretty dramatic spike rom Hard, where you can basically run & gun. I was kinda hoping for a mode that demanded more skill in that respect, rather than just forcing me to play ultra-carefully :(

I agree that Hard is basically easy mode in comparison. I did Master first and then Hard. On Hard you only have to actually fight like 2 times when you're not in a Titan, and even then you can run past stuff in a Titan.

The whole
assembly
level, you can run past everything on Hard with ease.
