He did so specifically to try and cause a scene over exactly the kind of comments he's making. It's not about winning Minnesota.
He's off to a good start if that was his goal.

Takes notes Donald, that's a real leader
First came the Hmong, then the Somalians.
Ignore the fact that both groups enriched the state.

Huh.
Speaking as a Minnesotan, Trump can fuck off. I'm glad his chances of making any actual headway in Minnesota are slim to none.
Aren't there enough bigots in Minnesota for Michelle Bachmann to have had a career in Congress?

Great stuff.
Can Canada just adopt us now?
Collectively we're one of the more progressive states, but there are definitely pockets of deplorables. Statewide we've sent Wellstone, Franken and Klobuchar to the Senate, while our upper class suburbs gave you all the gift of Michelle Bachmann. Anecdotally I've heard a fair amount of disdain about the Somali population, all the way from distasteful jokes to outright xenophobia. Though that's mostly been from people older than myself. Anyone my age or younger has gone or is going to school with kids from refugee families, and while I won't say racism doesn't exist, I would say that my generation as a whole believes that they belong here.
I live in Minnesota, and he may be referring to the Muslim young men who target white women for rape.
https://www.jihadwatch.org/2016/07/...with-rape-mainstream-media-covers-up-incident
Or he could be referring to the mosque that is 15 minutes from my house that has produced at least two convicted terrorists since I've lived here.

Full disclosure, I have a couple Muslim friends and I work with a Somalian every day in my office.
He seems like a nice kid, but like the Quran says, Allah allows you to lie to your enemies to gain their trust, and once you gain their trust to kill them with extreme hate. So I sometimes fear what could happen. And if anybody says I'm exaggerating, I have read the Quran and I am not misinterpreting these verses. I do believe that the vast majority of Muslims do not believe this. But I also believe that the radical Islamists are in their mind being true to their holy book.

my best friend is muslim but i dont trust him tbh, hes gonna blow anyday now
I also forgot to mention something a friend of mine saw with his own eyes ...
When the planes hit the towers on 9/11, he was working at the Fingerhut distribution plant in St. Cloud Minnesota. When the planes hit all the Muslims cheered in the warehouse.
Like I said, I don't believe most Muslims hate this country, but when you see stuff like that it makes you a little worried about what some of them really feel.

that's crazy that they all knew while the planes were still hitting that it was done by al-Queda
they must have gotten the most recent muslim newsletter
There's also the latest one, just two months ago a Muslim started stabbing people in the mall .
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...ng-stabbing-attack-at-minnesota-mall-it8de54r
So it can be a little uneasy living in Minnesota these days, so he was probably just referring to that. I don't know. I'm sure the mall of America is going to be a target in the future.
If Trump wins, there will be a border crisis on both sides of the U.S
