Is the 4.5 year prison sentence enough?

It should be whatever the maximum sentence of the falsely accused crime is (or crimes combined in this case). The minimum should be ten years, even if the falsely accused crime has a maximum sentence lower than that.

Just make her stay in an apartment building full of "future doctors and engineers" 'asylum seekers', then her complaints won't be fake anymore and the police can safely ignore her.

In this case? Hell no

A person lying about something so serious that would change the whole world of another person should have life sentence territory of penalty. Maybe not being in jail forever, but after it, volunteer work for a homeless kitchen or something forever

How does one even think they can get away with this? The odds of winning the lottery or getting hit by lightning are probably higher than the same person getting raped 10+ times, by 10+ different guys and on 10+ different days. And the sad part is if she made if believable with just one guy or even two then she probably does get away with it. So no it isn't even close to enough and a bigger example needs to start being made of these people. Not only for the damage they try to cause to the falsely accused victims but the damage they cause to actual rape victims who end up with another reason to be worried about coming forward.

She has shown a significant and repeated threat to society, as well as a clear and patterned indication to reoffend. It appears that she simply cannot function as a free member of society.

She wrecked/ruined 10 men's lives, destroying relationships and trust along with whatever lingering emotiona/mental issues they'll continue suffering from. Plus wasted the time of the police and drawing their time and attention away from actual crimes.

Her life should be over. It should be split between a lengthy prison sentence (10+ minimum) and when released spend the rest of her life doing community service.

not even close, maliciously lying to destroy other people's lives should mean you get the exact punishment the people you lied about would've gotten; I don't understand how this isn't a thing, it would stop false accusations dead in their tracks.

She should get more. I wish feminists realized that woman like her do more damage to their cause than 100 Andrew Tates and believe me i am no Tate supporter

Any prison time is really fucking awful unless you are already a shut in who sits around doing nothing.

But that seems too light. This is a terrible crime as it affects both the accused and people's trust in real victims.

So men went to jail just because she said so? In theory criminal cases need good evidence for conviction.

Says very generically some of them "Spent time in custody" which could legit just mean holding them as a suspect while they did some swabbing/testing or whatever.

Nobody was convicted I imagine otherwise the article would have said so.

Still life ruining.

I imagine after the first few it was a fairly quick matter that didn't involve much more than asking them questions though.

Hell no it's not enough. She should face the same sentences the men would have received if her false accusations had resulted in convictions. Especially because she did so willfully, knowing that her false claims were going to ruin lives. I took a quick Google search for the average prison time for rape in the UK, and it came back with 10-15 years average, but sometimes up to life. She should get the 10 year sentence for every false allegation served consecutively.

Sorry if that sounds harsh but I have zero tolerance for any kind of false reporting like this. The only way to stop others from even thinking about engaging in these kinds of false reports is to punish those who do them harshly.

If the court can absolutely prove she knew it was a lie from the very beginning, then give her the sentence that the people she accused would have gotten.

a number of the men lost their jobs or partners, were disowned by family and friends, or saw declines in their mental health after being falsely branded a rapist.
Reece Lockett said: "My life was turned upside down the day I was falsely accused of rape. My mum and dad disowned me. My partner of five years left me. I lost my part-time job."

Astron Inman said: "Words can't describe the torment my head has gone through. I moved to Sweden not long after to re-evaluate my life and wasn't a part of my children's lives for a couple of years.

"My love life had dramatically fallen, I have been single ever since and I find it hard how to approach the opposite sex."

No. 4.5 years is nowhere near enough. 10 men have had their lives destroyed and some may never mentally recover.

All the men branded a rapist will have that label attached for the rest of their lives.

Yes, the truth has come out but nobody will care to dig out this news. Nobody is thinking "John is a rapist but shall we check for any updates just in case he isn't???"

At very minimum this 4.5 years should be for each individual she ruined.

In my opinion it should be 10x10.
This wasn't a joke gone wrong or a one off, this is twisted and intentional evil.

They wouldn't get any jail time anyways, real or not rape.

It's a shame we don't have consecutive sentencing in the uk, so even if she got a 10x10 sentence she'd still only serve 10 at the most.

In a just world, I'd take the maximum sentence the men she accused could have potentially received and then made her serve those sentences consecutively. Giving her the amount of time she tried to steal away from others seems fair.
